Professional Development Slide Decks: Intervention PLC Dyslexia PLC
Good Things: Section 504: Supporting 2,300 student and growing Our Section 504 Coordinators are doing an amazing job juggling the demands of this role on top of their very busy AP role. Thank you! Dyslexia: Supporting 2,048 students with dyslexia and 755 in direct services. The number of Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTS) in our district is growing. This is the highest certification a dyslexia specialist can obtain. We have 3 CALTS and 1 teacher pursuing that certification. Intervention: Supporting more than 3,800 students in tier 2 and 3. Our systems are strengthening at the campus level. More students that are receiving intervention support have documentation supporting the intervention. MTSS Facilitators are organizing, scheduling, facilitating and following up with students, staff and families in their role as facilitator. Hundreds of meetings have taken place across Hays CISD.

There will be a 2-5 hour window between Friday evening and Sunday evening where your organization will be in maintenance mode as well (most likely Friday night or Saturday afternoon). While in maintenance mode, users will not be able to access the system and will receive a message informing them that the organization is in maintenance mode if they try to log in.

Any out of district overnight travel should first be authorized (Pre-travel) using the district travel form. The same form should be used to reconcile expenses after travel. Meals: ○ Meals may not be reimbursed for non-overnight travel (i.e. a one day training that does not involve an overnight stay). ○ All meals will be reimbursed by state/local (non-grant funds) Hotel stays: ○ Nightly rate must fall within the GSA rate for grant funded travel ○ You may not stay within the 50 mile radius for local travel PD: ○ If grant funds pay for PD and then a staff does not attend, you must use local funds to pay for the travel. ○ The campus should maintaining attendance certificates to prove attendance in the event of audit. Grant Funded SUBS: ○ You may only pay a Guest Teacher as a Sub with Federal Funds. Ensure that your subs are secured and confirmed well in advance. Notification of G/T assessment results will be emailed to parents on March 1. The campus G/T liaison will provide a list of results to the principal and counselor. If a parent has questions, he/she will meet with the counselor. Tish can provide support as needed. Elementary principals - As a reminder, the G/T Instructional Coach assigned to your campus will work with newly identified 1st - 5th grade students one hour per month from March through May. They will work with your campus Instructional Coach to schedule sessions. Please ensure your IC is aware of dates that need to be avoided.

Current state of Speech Services Hays CISD continues to experience SLP shortages as well as everyone across the nation. We are working to find some help for the team so that all students can receive their services. Here is where we are at the moment: ● We have a handful of students who have not received any services ● We have students who have received some services but not all services ● We are communicating with families about any services missed through Annual ARDs and Progress Reports. Please refer any parents who reach out to you with questions to the special education office. ● We are tracking missed services so that we can provide compensatory services. ● We do have a few SLPs who are providing compensatory services after school
Here is how you can help us ●

Relieve the SLP from any duty on your campus. Any moment the SLP has can be used to make up services or complete required paperwork. SLPs do not have a daily conference period. Relieve SLPs from STAAR and Benchmark duties. SLPs can still provide services for students in non STAAR testing grades and for students in specialized programs. This is also a good time for them to make up services Provide the SLP access to students. Limiting times when students can be seen impacts the provision of services. Informational Items

Teachers will need to enable the test prior to the test day (Just like a CBA). If a teacher forgets, CTCs or ICs can start tests for a teacher by going to Proctor in Eduphoria: Proctoring when Teacher is Unavailable Feel free to use the STAAR-like directions: 23-24 HCISD Benchmark Directions Most students have taken plenty of assessments in Eduphoria. Teachers can show the Student Reminders for Eduphoria RLA Benchmark - Spring 2024 if they wish. Speech-to-Text, Online Spell Check are built into the Eduphoria platform for those students who have them enabled. Word Prediction is not, so students will need to use Google Read&Write or another device. For each of these supports, students cannot test in the Eduphoria LockDown browser. For elementary, the score summary is already enabled. Students will be able to see how they did on the questions that are not constructed response after the test. For secondary campuses, we're enabling it on Monday, 2/26. Your teams can learn more here: Student Score Summary Your teachers will work with our fabulous RLA content team and ICs to score and enter all constructed responses.
