Informational Items We had our first 4th/5th grade ELAR/SLAR Just in Time trainings this week. We scored the Extended Constructed Responses and teachers had opportunities to collaborate with teachers from across the district. We appreciate how engaged and reflective your teachers and ICs were during the trainings. Our 3rd Grade ELAR/SLAR Just in Time sessions are on January 8th or 10th. We will meet with teachers in the morning and they will meet for math in the afternoon. They will also have opportunities to see writing from across the district and will have time to collaborate with their colleagues. Please remind them to bring copies of the ECRAs.

Multilingual Education and Migrant Programs Action Items Elementary Campus Enrollment Procedures for Emergent Bilingual Students: Student enrollment MUST happen at the student’s home campus. 1. As a reminder, language testing and LPACs need to be done at the home campus. Below is the form that the multilingual dpt. has had in place for a number of years that outlines the steps of what has to be done by the sending & receiving campus. Should transportation need to be arranged, the sending campus LPAC Chair or PEIMS clerk needs to email Diana Jimenez, our district route coordinator, and the receiving campus LPAC Chair. Please note that bus routes may take up to 2 weeks for them to be arranged. Below is an excerpt from the form that is expected to be used.
Contact transportation and notify them that this student will need transportation, if applicable. Students should remain on the ESL campus until transportation assigns a bus to the new school.

Bilingual Campuses: Teachers, If your students need to type in Spanish or another language in your class, your students will need to switch their keyboard to the English (US) with International Keyboard. Please use the How-to linked below to help you add this keyboard. Students will then be able to use the keyboard shortcuts (also on the How-to) to add the appropriate punctuation/accent marks. Once the keyboard is added, students will be able to hit Ctrl + Space to switch between the International and the English US keyboard.

Pre-K student enrollment MUST happen at the student’s home campus.
