The message below was written by Pastor Allen during his work in Kenya in June of this year
Sisters and Brothers:
Yesterday we worshipped at the Maua Methodist Church on the St Joseph Circuit The presiding minister was attending the conference’s ordination services in another city, so we were not able to have holy communion The praise choir for the Swahili service was fabulous and we were warmly welcomed by the congregation The lay speaker was an eighty year-old retired teacher and he offered an impassioned sermon that lasted 30 minutes longer than was scheduled (another service was to follow) So we did not linger long in fellowship after th because we had an appointment later that afte
Our team welcomed graduates of the Peace (s Haymount UMC) and Ebenezer groups to me hotel. Reegan, the ZOE Empowers Global So arranged for a special visitor. Her name was P woman that my daughter Ann and I met twelv Panina had been traumatized in her early teen a ZOE group surrounded her with care and c helped her secure the family farm when relativ take away her inheritance and helped her plan crops because of her pregnancy. I first met he after her journey with ZOE had begun. At tha was a successful farmer, had a herd of goats, a bull, and owned a tailoring shop that employe persons
I reminded her of our meeting yesterday and we continued our conversation Today she is married with three additional children, all but the youngest enrolled in school The generosity first shown her has been returned with a generous spirit toward her community Her tailoring business prospers and she has been able to train six or seven others and helped them start their businesses She provided school uniforms for dozens of children who could not afford them and assisted in paying the school fees of others She continues to buy and sell goats and cattle and provide for her family

Monday Mahjong Coming to HUMC
Join Us Weekly
Whether you’re a seasoned "Bam" and "Dot" pro or are a Mahjong beginner, we invite you to join our brand-new fellowship group, Monday Mahjong! Starting April 20, we will gather every Monday in the Fellowship Hall from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm for afternoons filled with strategy, laughter, and lighthearted competition. There is no need to worry about bringing your own tiles or mats—we have everything provided—all we need is you. The heart of this group is building meaningful connections and strengthening our church community outside of Sunday morning. Come as you are, learn a new skill, and enjoy some wonderful company! UWFaith Update

At the 2026 Assembly of United Women in Faith in Indianapolis, IN, on May 14-17, three thousand women attended Community Gatherings every morning with great speakers like Stacy Abrams, her minister mother, and Reverend Stephanie York Arnold who spoke about changes that are needed and how to make these changes happen. We witnessed the ordination of the new class of deaconesses and home missioners. We listened to beautiful inspiring music and watched interpretive dancing. The singing group with their live band were wonderful. The workshops were inspiring and gave information about how to effect change and strategies for developing an Advocacy Action Plan. The exhibits were manned by groups advocating for various people in need and by authors doing book signings. The atmosphere of three thousand Christian women, all interested and caring about how to make the world better for others, was awesome! Anyone you met in a line somewhere might have been from Georgia, California, New York or Virginia, but they felt like an old friend that you could talk to about anything. It was an unforgettable experience

Celebrating Completed Projects and Continuing Improvements Around Our Campus
As we move into the beautiful summer months, your Board of Trustees has been hard at work ensuring our church home remains a safe, comfortable, and vibrant place for worship and fellowship We are thrilled to share several exciting updates on major facility projects that have recently been completed or are currently underway
If you ’ ve noticed the building feeling exceptionally comfortable lately, you can thank our brand-new HVAC system! During the last week of May, we successfully completed the installation of two new Daikin chillers These energy-efficient units replaced our original Trane chillers, which had served us faithfully since 2005. This upgrade ensures we will have reliable, efficient cooling for many summers to come while helping to lower our energy footprint.
Our sanctuary’s beautiful stained-glass windows have received some much-needed care. We have completely replaced the old protective exterior coverings. This project has two benefits: it allows significantly more natural light to flood into our sanctuary during morning worship, and it allows our surrounding community to see the vibrant beauty of our stained glass from the outside. This project was made possible entirely by the immense generosity donors. We are deeply grateful for those who stepped forward to fund this beautiful upgrade.
If you ' ve walked through our entryways recently, you may have noticed some active maintenance! We are currently in the process of stripping, staining, and sealing all of our beautiful wooden doors This necessary project will protect the wood from harsh weather and sunlight damage, ensuring our historic doors remain a warm and welcoming first impression for everyone who enters

Rally Day 2026
of our HUMC community is invited to bid ewell to Summer 2026 on August 22 from 4-7 PM on our back lawn We will have ater games, lawn games, fun activities and cool treats for all to enjoy! Join us for Rally Day on Sunday, August 22, as we celebrate our children, youth, and educators as they get ready to start a new school year! During both our 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM services, we will be blessing backpacks for our little learners, so don’t forget to have your child bring theirs! We will also be presenting Bibles to rising 6th grade students, so if you have a rising 6th grader, be sure to let Ms. Rachel know by emailing her at rachel.madsen@haymountumc.com. Nativity Costume Repairs
Our Church is preparing for this year’s Journey to the Manger, and many of our costumes need a little love and care We are looking for volunteers to help us repair worn costumes, alter the sizing of costumes, and create completely new pieces! If you are interested in helping out we will be holding workdays July 2730 from 10am-2pm. in our fellowship hall. Diaper Pantry
We will be collecting diapers and formula for Sarah’s Diaper and Formula Pantry, which is a local pantry that helps and supports families in need We are collecting diapers of all sizes and brands, and any brand of new, unopened formula. Donations can be dropped off at the designated bins outside of the Church Office. Upcoming El Salvador Mission Trip Prayers for a safe and bountiful trip
A dedicated Mission Team will be traveling to El Salvador on August 1-8 from Haymount United Methodist Church to do both construction and medical work in the community Our team is comprised of 15 members-5 of those being HUMC members We are asking our church congregation to pray a prayer of Numbers 6:25 over our mission team: “May the Lord make his face shine upon us and be gracious to us ”

Youth Drama Camp
August 10-14
If you are a youth from 7 grade to 12 grade we are inviting you to join us for our first annual Youth Drama Camp! This week will be filled with creativity, and practices to hone your craft th th Our students will be performing the musical “High Cotton” It is 1929, just before "The Crash" of the stock market. In a little mill town, the "haves", the "have-nots", the "righteous", and the "sinners" wrestle with the feelings of pride and prejudice. This musical production is a toe tapper and includes a host of styles including "Charleston", "Ragtime", and "Tango”. Campers must provide their own healthy, nut free lunch each day. Haymount UMC at NCUMC Annual Conference
How our Church was present
From June 18–20, the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church gathered for its annual session. While Haymount UMC always sends a dedicated delegation of lay leaders and pastoral staff to represent our community, this year was incredibly special. Instead of just participating from the pews, Haymount played a vital, central role in the conference itself, showcasing the incredible gifts of our ministry team.
The excitement began on Thursday during the opening ceremony, where our praise band under the phenomenal leadership of Contemporary Music Director Katie Powers had the distinct honor of leading worship for the entire gathering They set a powerful, energetic, and faithful tone for the days that followed The spirit of worship continued into Friday’s memorial service Our very own Pastor Allen delivered the sermon for this service, offering a deeply moving and impactful message that resonated with everyone in attendance
We are so grateful for the talent, leadership, and heart that Katie, Pastor Allen, and our musicians poured into the annual conference. Thank you for representing Haymount UMC so beautifully on the conference stage!

Finance Update

The Finance Committee has been meeting regularly to carefully oversee our church’s resources, and during our recent sessions, we conducted our annual review and formally approved the Financial Standard Operating Procedures (FSOPs). We are incredibly happy to report that the church is in a good position financially and is currently on schedule for this year's projected budget as planned. As of May 2026, our Year to Date Revenues are $632,371.21 and our Year to Date Expenses are $495,435.08 leaving us with a net of $136,936.63 We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has faithfully given so far this year, and we warmly encourage others to consider giving as well In addition to those who have been faithfully tithing, we would like to extend a note of thanks to those who have given to endowments and designated lines as they are important for when it comes to providing funding to ministries and missions of the church If you would like to give online, you can do so at any time directly through our website

HUMC MomCo is excited to welcome new members for the upcoming year. You do not need to be a member of Haymount United Methodist Church or attend church regularly to join us. We have a wonderful year planned with encouraging meetings, meaningful friendships, and fun monthly playdates for moms and their children.
