Federico Romero Bayter is a Colombian artist who lives and works in Italy, where he arrived to study. Federico Romero studies now the introduction of colour in his monochromatic canvases and experiments with new media, many of his recent works are painted using old flags.

In his last works the subject is the city. Federico starts to the view of the urban landscape that he represents as a labyrinth through signs and gestures. Everything starts with the drawing that the artist calls ‘project drawings’. Fast signs step by step, crossing each other, outline a tangle of building lines which reinvent the perception of cities, buildings, streets. There is an extraordinary movement in these images. Bayter’s paintings become three-dimensional, architectural, perspective spaces.
