make a difference in the lives of animals by collecting donations for the Society’s 30 programs and services. Registration starts at 7 am

Create a personal fundraising page and share why you are supporting Oahu’s animals. President’s Message

Building a better future for animals In July, we celebrated our 130th birthday. What most impresses me about the Hawaiian Humane Society is its ability to continually re-evaluate and reinvent itself in order to be a dynamic agent for change. When we were organized in 1883, we had no enforcement powers. Instead we worked collaboratively with a police officer designated to fight cruelty with us. It was at this time that we also pledged our

commitment to child protection. We once had branches on the neighbor islands. Today, all island humane societies are completely independent. Sheltering did not become a part of the Humane Society’s work until well in the 1900s when Victoria Ward donated a small parcel of land in Kakaako. Due to the recent changes to countycontracted animal services, we have Pamela Burns President and CEO
