This year, in response to COVID-19, we are bringing the glitz and glam of our annual Tuxes & Tails directly to you!

We have redesigned our in-person celebration to a virtual experience that everyone can enjoy from home.

During this special, one-hour virtual benefit event, we look forward to celebrating with you the joy animals bring to our lives, all while inviting you to give generously to ensure we can continue to meet the growing needs of our community during these trying times.

Air Dates Saturday, May 22 at 6 pm on KGMB Sunday, May 23 at 6 pm on KHNL Monday, May 24 at 8 pm on KFVE Bid in our online auction,

full of exciting items such as dining gift certificates, travel, apparel, wine and much more.

Meet Our Hosts Grace Lee

Grace grew up in small town Alabama, but moved to California to attend UCLA. She graduated with a BA in International Economics with no intention of going into the news business. After getting her master’s degree at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington, she moved back to LA and got her first job at KNBC as an unpaid intern. She got her first on-air job at KGMB as a reporter, but moved to California to anchor and report before returning to Hawaii News Now’s Sunrise in 2013 and she haven’t left since.

A lot of the on air-staff has been with Hawaii News Now since the beginning of Sunrise including Steve Uyehara, their Business Reporter Howard Dicus and Entertainment reporter Billy V. Grace contributes that the team is the reason that they’ve been able to produce the type of shows that they have and that they each add a lot of personality to Sunrise. Like a true family, without words, they can communicate and convey a lot to each other.

Grace’s pup Sunny is now 13 years old, and she is still (in Grace’s mind and Sunny’s) the most popular member of the show!

Charlie Bean

Charlie was adopted by Bob & Frances Bean in 2014 after their two beloved dogs passed away. Their daughter, Naomi, encouraged them to open their heart to a new dog. As fate would have it, she happened to look at the Hawaiian Humane Society’s website and saw Charlie.

Naomi showed Frances the photo, and after one look, they knew Charlie was meant to be a part of their family. Bob, a dedicated member of Hawaiian Humane’s Board of Directors for more than 20 years, also immediately fell in love with Charlie so with the help of former President & CEO Pamela Burns the Beans met and adopted Charlie.

Charlie had been adopted and returned twice before finding Bob and Frances, who can’t imagine their life without him. A friendly and outgoing pup, he quickly charms everyone he meets!

Mr. Bubbles

Mr. Bubbles, a 14-year-old schnoodle, captured the hearts of his parents Dr. Tom and Mi Kosasa. He was adopted in 2015 after coming to the Hawaiian Humane Society, in need of a fresh start.

He loves attention (especially from the ladies!) and looks forward to going into the office with mom every day at Air Service Hawaii. When he’s not out and about meeting new friends, Mr. Bubbles also loves just spending time with his family, which includes his furry sibling Angel Keystone.

The Kosasas truly feel like they were the ones rescued because of Mr. Bubbles’ endless love he gives them.

Henry Kapono

Sistah Robi

Native Hawaiian and Grammy nominated, Henry Kapono, is a multiple award-winning vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and composer.

Henry is one of Hawaii’s most popular recording artists and presides over Kapono Inc, one of Hawaii’s top multi-function entertainment companies. He is equally known for his community support and philanthropic endeavors launching the “The Henry Kapono Foundation” in 2018 whose mission is to “Support the community through music and the arts and by giving with Aloha”.

Music has always filled Sistah Robi’s life. It is a part of her roots. Robi’s multi-cultural, multilingual background is also reflected in her music, which ranges from soft Hawaiian rhythms to funky reggae beats, from American pop songs to Polynesian traditionals. As long as it feels good, as long as it’s fun, she sings it -in her own special way. Robi was an essential part of the incredible group of talent that made up the Hawaiian Style Band. She was the featured vocalist on the first two albums on 1992’s Vanishing Treasures, and Rhythm of the Oceanin 1994. HSB consisted of Robi, Wade Cambern, and Bryan Kessler. Robi has since had a very successful solo career, with her albums earning her multiple Ho ˉku ˉ awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year. Her collaborative project with Sean Na‘auao was among the finalists for a GRAMMY® Award.

Ginny Tiu

Jordan Segundo is a big animal lover and has supported the Hawaiian Humane Society for many years. He is recognized as the first singer from Hawaii to be a Top 32 Semi-Finalist on Season Two of “American Idol”. He is currently living in Sacramento, California, working as an anchor for CBS13 and Good Day Sacramento.

Ginny Tiu is an internationally renowned pianist, beginning her career at the age of five on the Ed Sullivan Show. She performed at Carnegie Hall, for the late President Kennedy and President Bush and did a movie with Elvis Presley. Animal welfare has been her priority since she joined the Board of the Hawaiian Humane Society twelve years ago. She dedicates most of her time and philanthropic resources to support and advance its mission of “promoting the human animal bond, and the humane treatment of all animals.”

Check Out our Animal Kingdom

Dine with the Mayor Mayor Rick Blangiardi and his wife Karen, who recently adopted a dog name Peanut, have a longtime passion for supporting the Hawaiian Humane Society and our community’s animals.

You and seven guests can dine with Rick and Karen at the Halekulani’s beautiful, five-star La Mer restaurant. The restaurant is set to re-open in 2021. Saks Fifth Avenue will provide touches of glitz and glam to make the evening even more special.
