Modular homes Modular homes

We are committed to addressing homelessness in Havering and the proposed investment in modular, self-contained accommodation is a cost-effective solution that not only saves taxpayers money, but will provide better living conditions for those residents who require support and ensure we reduce our reliance on hotels and B&Bs.

What is proposed?

Between 10 and 20 single storey temporary family 2-bed modular homes better suited to family life than a hotel or B&B

Benefits include:

making use of the part of the site currently identified as one of the final phases of the Waterloo and Queen Street scheme higher quality, self-sufficient homes for families in temporary accommodation more suitable than hotels, hostels or B&Bs bringing life back to the community homes can be relocated and used elsewhere as WQS phasing progresses.

Next steps: Consultants specialising in these types of modular schemes have been appointed to advise on planning process We anticipate the homes to be available within 9 to 12 months, subject to planning.
