This month, Bob Gernert writes about Gene Leedy and the influence he’s had on architecture, especially here in Polk County. It was an honor to share his story this month and to learn more about his life. I want to give a huge thank you to Zack and Max Strang for help with photos.
We also talk with the husband and wife team that bakes the best rum cakes around, Bang Bang Bakehouse. We also visit with Island Dreaming, a clothing boutique in Winter Haven that will make you feel like you’re on the beach all day.
Jeremy Gardner gives us another short story, it’s my favorite so far. IV Horn talks about the tabloids, which all happen to be from Florida. Who knew? Shannon Carnevale teaches us about Florida lightning, and Anne Yasalonis gives us a plan for our fall gardens.
By the time you read this, the voting will have ended for the Best Of LKLD awards, and we are off counting the votes. Be sure to pick up the September issue so you can see who won!
