he first thing Regina King tells me is that she knows nothing about the Lower East Side dive bar scene of the 1990s, back when KGB Bar reigned supreme — and frankly, she’s fine keeping it that way. “You’re talking drip-tray shots? I can’t! That makes me uncomfortable,” she laughs, recoiling at the thought. “When it comes to consuming something insanely unsafe or gross, I just can’t.”
But don’t mistake her squeamishness for softness: just because she won’t ingest anything that isn’t fit for human consumption, King herself has all of the grit and gumption of a New York City cop, which is, incidentally, the part she plays in Caught Stealing, Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming dark, propulsive dive into 1990s New York, out August 29 from Sony Pictures Releasing.
And while she may not have frequented Manhattan’s most iconic divebars of yesteryear, King isn’t entirely unfamiliar with the vibe of early ‘90s New York. She made the move from her native Los Angeles to Brooklyn for a stint — around the time that Boyz n the Hood was hitting theaters — armed with the dream of seeing her fashion line, designed to discreetly carry blunts, take off. Yes, really.
The now-54-year-old Oscar winner takes a trip down memory lane, telling me about her days living in Riverdale — a residential neighborhood located in the Bronx — and, before that, Brooklyn, where she posted up with friends for a month while trying to get her green venture off the ground.
“We had this clothing line called Smokawear that was geared towards the green smoking community that we were starting to market; we were going to sell it and get it on TV shows,” she recalls. “Some of the pockets were designed so that you could put a blunt or a joint in them, but we had [a lot of variety] — vests, jeans, dresses. We just kind of decided, ‘OK, we’re in our 20s, let’s just do it. I was financing it myself. We started in LA, but all these other kinds of similar brands like Walker Wear started to come out, and we were like, ‘New York is the place to go.’”
Was the line a success? King says she’ll never know, because her acting career started to take off, she got married, became a mom, and “grew up” but Smokawear still lives on via old episodes of Def Comedy Jam (Martin Lawrence wore one of the vests), and photos from a fashion show she put on where Vivica A. Fox and Tichina Arnold both modelled her designs.
I pause to consider that in the 1990s, the green community was vastly different than it is today (marijuana was illegal in New York until 2021) — which reminds me that the woman in front of me today — who is Zooming from Cincinnati, Ohio — is a total badass, utterly and unapolagetically herself. So, it makes sense that she would be drawn to this kind of role — playing Roman, a relentless beat cop caught in the fallout of a brutal murder — and that she would prepare for it by studying and learning from another total iconic badass none other than Jackie Brown. Yes, the Jackie Brown.
I had previously thought Jackie Brown was a fictional character created by Quentin Tarantino’s beautiful brain, but King swears that Jackie is real — and the basis for her Caught Stealing character. “I was approaching it through her lens, you know? Seeing pictures of her and talking to her, I could see how I could have known her. She’s about 10 years older than me, but her presence is so strong, and so of the neighborhood; so real.”
King says this mythical meeting was forged by the magical Darren Aronofsky, who not only found Brown, but created a space for she and King to meet. “Darren is the truth,” she compliments, noting, “It’s interesting: you can be a fan of someone’s and never have met them, or meet them and realize that
you don’t want to spend three months of your life with them. But when I heard there was interest in me for this role, [I knew I had to meet him in person].”
Although she was initially on her way to Barcelona, King made a detour in New York for a face-to-face, one-on-one meeting. “I felt an instant connection,” she remembers. “I was very clear of the story that he was going to tell, and I was also very clear that this [story] was out of his wheelhouse, and not what people would expect from an Aronofsky film. I’m so with that, going outside of the expected box.”
That’s King for you, too. She’s built a career by going against the grain at every turn — refusing to be typecast, overlooked, or boxed in. She broke out on 227 as a teenager and never faded, transitioning seamlessly into powerful roles in films like Boyz n the Hood, Ray, and Jerry Maguire at a time when Hollywood rarely gave Black women that kind of range. While others chased commercial fluff, King leaned into nuance and complexity — earning four Emmys for roles in American Crime, Seven Seconds, and Watchmen, where she played a masked vigilante grappling with race, justice, and grief. She could have coasted on acting success alone, but instead stepped behind the camera, directing episodes of Scandal, Insecure, and This Is Us before making history with One Night in Miami, becoming the first Black woman to debut a film at the Venice Film Festival. That movie alone earned her Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations, cementing her status as a creative force, not just a performer. She’s portrayed trailblazers like Shirley Chisholm, and more recently directed and executive produced Forever — a tender, teen-centered adaptation of said Judy Blume novel for Netflix, which has already been picked up for a second season. She’s also in the midst of shooting Children of Blood and Bone, the long-awaited, highly anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling YA fantasy novel (she plays a pivotal role as Queen Nehanda). In short: Regina King didn’t follow the Hollywood playbook — she wrote her own.
That fearless, unorthodox spirit shows up in Caught Stealing too — not just in King’s performance, but in the way the city itself is shot. Because in this story, New York isn’t just the backdrop — it’s the co-star (alongside other living, breathing individuals such as Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Bad Bunny, and Carol Kane). It’s gritty and raw, full of contradictions and beauty and danger, just like the characters navigating it. In this film, you can feel the pulse of downtown, the dirt under the fingernails, the soul of a city that shapes you whether you like it or not.
For her part, King fell into the former camp: she was a fan. “We were actually able to shoot at a diner, a coffee shop, that’s [been in existence prior to the ’90s],” she recalls with enthusiasm, noting, “In that sense, New York becomes a real character in the film. And it makes sense: Darren is a New Yorker to the end, and he was definitely able to capture the New York that doesn’t exist anymore, recreate that ’90s feeling, without a bunch of CGI.”
Like that version of New York, many of the worlds King explores — whether it’s Miami in the civil rights era, a congressional campaign trail, or the realm of YA fantasy — are shaped by friction, identity, and reinvention. And in each of them, she brings the same grounded truth.
And maybe that’s because at this point in her career, with all the accolades she’s received since her start at age 14 (yes, you read that right) in the television sitcom 227, she’s in the sweet spot of being able to make career choices for herself and only for herself. Naturally, that feels about as damn good as can be expected.
“It feels great that I am financially sound enough to be able to do that,” she admits. “It’s a blessing, because at the end of the day, you have to have a certain relationship with money to be OK with working this way. There are some people that just have this blind faith where they know they’re always going to be alright. I am one of those people who does think about money. I don’t want to say that I worry about it, but I do think about it, and I am grateful to be in a place where I can say, I’m not doing that. That truly is a blessing.”

“I THINK IN LIFE, IT’S HARDER AND HARDER TO HAVE THOSE MEANINGFUL MOMENTS. AND THAT’S WHY, WHEN I HAVE THEM NOW, THEY FEEL EVEN MORE SPECIAL. WE HAVE THEM LESS AND LESS AS TIME GOES ON, AND WE HAVE TO WORK HARDER TO HAVE THEM.”

These days, what moves the needle when it comes to project selection, is simple. “I choose the people I want to work with, whom I want to tell stories with. I love being in a position to help cultivate and create a space for younger storytellers. It feels good to be in a position to exercise that.”
That clarity spills into everything — even how she spends her afternoons on set. When I ask if she and her very talented slew of younger storytellers from Caught Stealing ever ventured out on the town together between takes or after the day had wrapped, she laughs and insists the cast stayed focused. But when she isn’t working, King definitely knows how to let loose — within reason.
“I’ll hang in a bar,” she allows. “Maybe I could do three with a drink at each one — but my bar-hopping days are a long way behind me.”
Which, honestly, tracks, because these days, King is all about raising the bar. She’s not chasing scenes anymore — she’s directing them, producing them, or absolutely slaying in them.
And drip-tray shots? Whether it’s the Lower East Side or anywhere else, she’ll pass (and not in a puff, puff way, either). She’s been about that life before (let’s not forget about the clothing line with pockets made for blunts!), but King isn’t here for the party anymore. She’s been there, done that, and (out) grown it beautifully. She doesn’t need to relive the past to prove anything to anyone — especially not when she’s in a place to decide how the story goes.
n Regina King’s world, joy and pain aren’t opposites — they’re partners. She’s found that it’s not only possible for contradictions to coexist, but that some of the clearest truths live in the tension between them. Over the course of our conversation, she speaks not in absolutes, but in nuance — about presence and loss, control and surrender, softness and strength. There’s no performative wisdom here, no tidy answers. Just an artist — and a woman — who’s learned how to live in the gray, and who’s still figuring it out in real time.
That lens — of finding clarity in contradiction — colors everything. Success. Spirituality. What it means to show up for people. And as our conversation deepens, she starts pulling threads — about change, about survival, about the kind of growth that doesn’t always look the way you expect it to.
As she puts it, “I think that there’s things that have happened along the way in each individual’s life that guides them to make certain choices in the moment, but there are always creeds that you live by. For me, I’d say it’s ‘treat people like you want to be treated.’ And that seems really simple, but I do think good manners go a long way.”
When I express that she must be a good person to operate this way — that selflessness isn’t a given — King seems genuinely surprised. “I think most people that I know have experienced success from the fruits of their labor,” she says. “When it comes in abundance, there’s a natural desire to share.”
As has been established, King is no pushover though: she’s become deliberate about the energy she gives and receives. “I do feel like I’m always met with grace from others,” she says. “I don’t know if that’s what I attract, or if the universe is placing it in my path because it’s what I need — but it’s what I receive.”
She’s quick to clarify: that doesn’t mean she’s immune to the bullshit. It just means she handles it differently. “When those moments happen, I can remove myself from them, and maybe that’s because my circle has become smaller. But it’s easier now.”
That kind of clarity, she admits, came gradually — and it’s still a work in progress. “You asked about the one thing I live by, the one creed,” she says. “But I think it changes. It has to.” She pauses, then starts to trace how and when her outlook shifted. Her perspective started to change five years ago which was, if you might recall, the start of the pandemic.
“So much life has happened since then,” she says, almost to herself, before saying,“This might sound crazy, but I didn’t get that whole cabin fever thing during COVID. I didn’t mind the stillness — I actually found peace in it.”
For many, the pandemic was a nightmare — a time of chaos, loss, and unraveling. But for King, it offered a rare kind of pause. One she now treasures deeply, because not long after, her life would change forever.
During a two-month break from filming The Harder They Fall in New Mexico, she hunkered down at home with her son, Ian Desduné. “We would cook together, he would write music, and time slowed down a bit,” she recalls. “It was nice not to always have a meeting or a call; the stillness wasn’t a bad thing.”
The world outside was spiraling — a global pandemic, the aftermath of George Floyd’s death and the largest racial justice protests in U.S. history, wildfires tearing through the West Coast, Hollywood on hold. And yet, within her walls, there was peace. “Five years ago, I had the understanding that scary and peaceful are not mutually exclusive,” she says. “And now, I understand that sadness and happiness can be happening at the same time.”
That clarity didn’t come overnight. It came in pieces — shaped by time, by heartbreak, by the quiet moments she didn’t yet know would be her last with Ian. Less than two years later, her only child died by suicide at age 26. Which is why, of course, it makes sense that the pandemic was a time of peace for her. It meant time with her son, time that she will never, ever get back.
I ask if, should she go back in time, these would be the two months of her life she would choose to freeze-frame. And yes, one of them would be. “I know it sounds so terrible, but if I’m being completely honest, it’d be a month there — where Ian was writing so much of his music, that last bit of his music, and I was editing One Night in Miami… and some other things that I want to save for me. And then I’d also freeze-frame the first month of Ian’s life, because I was no longer a home: I was a mom. It was life-changing; it was a feeling I’d never had before in my life. I’ve never felt anything close to it… until he no longer wanted to be here anymore.”
It doesn’t sound terrible — it sounds like love, raw and real and bottomless. And no matter how much time passes, she knows it will always be raw — which is why she does not resist the tears that come. They are not performative tears — not gracefully drops poised at the edge of her lashes — but instead, steady, full of real emotion. This is the kind of grief that doesn’t need words to explain itself, but the kind that simply arrives, uninvited and unstoppable.
But in the space where sorrow lives, so does grace. Regina King has never been one to seek silver linings where they don’t exist, but she has learned to reach for the light — even in its faintest forms. “My fortune today was ‘this life is a gift,’” she says. At home, she has a bowl full of fortunes just like that — scraps of wisdom, tiny reassurances that beauty can still break through.
She needs something to hold on to, so she keeps those paper prophecies close — tiny, fragile words offering direction through the ache. They give her a reason to keep creating, to keep speaking Ian’s name aloud. One of them, in time, became more than just a message on paper. It became an idea she could pour into, shape with her hands, and share with the world. It became a bottle. That bottle became MianU — short for Me and You — an orange wine she launched this month in honor of her son.
MianU is clearly not a vanity project — instead, it’s a love story. Ian introduced King to orange wine years ago, and now, she’s offering it back to the world in his memory. His name sits at the heart of the label, nestled
between the letters like a whisper. The logo is his handwriting. Every bottle is a tribute, a ritual, a bridge between two realms.
“It was kind of an epiphany I had,” she confides, “that came from a place of continuing to create memories in Ian’s spirit. I’m still here, on this plane, separate from him, and I’m surrounded by people talking about their children — engagements, weddings, new chapters — [while mine is gone]. I still love talking about Ian: I just don’t have the chance to create new memories in the way they do. But I’m not focused on that. This is my way of creating something new, together.”
When she says that “it just made sense to start with orange wine. That was him. His art, his creativity — it’s all in there” — there is that one word which gives me pause: start. Maybe this is just the beginning of creating a whole new set of memories.
And so in that sense, this isn’t just a bottle. It’s a moment, a continuation, a way of staying connected, even when everything else says you shouldn’t be. “Every time a cork opens, or every time I’m pouring a glass, I’m thinking of Ian,” she says. “I’m thinking of him 24/7 anyway, but always in this moment, I can see his face. And for people who never got the chance to dance with Ian, maybe they’ll be curious. Maybe they’ll ask. His name is right there, in the middle of it all. He’ll never be forgotten.”
She’s quiet for a long beat. Then, softly: “If you see me, you see Ian.”
It’s not just sentiment — it’s a way of moving through the world. The wine is one expression of that: a tether, a ritual, a new kind of memory. “This wine, for me, is about connection,” she says. “There being a connection in every moment.”
That desire — to stay connected, to feel something real — has become a quiet drumbeat in her life. “I think in life, it’s harder and harder to have those meaningful moments,” she says reflectively. “And that’s why, when I have them now, they feel even more special. We have them less and less as time goes on, and we have to work harder to have them.”
She’s not being cynical — just honest. There’s no armor here, no performance. Just a mother, still grieving.
It’s part of what has changed in her. Not just the grief — though of course that reshapes everything — but a deeper clarity. She lives differently now, with more intention, with more presence. “I one thousand percent live in the moment more,” she says. “I don’t know if that’s something that just comes with time, or with pain, or with the pandemic — probably all of it. But I feel it.”
And if we’re being honest, the pandemic did crack something open. Not in a grand, transformative way — but in subtle shifts. Slowed rhythms and shared silence. It gave her the chance to reflect, to recognize what mattered. “I think everybody learned something huge about themselves during that time,” she says. “Whether it was the biggest bunch of bullshit you’d sold yourself about who you are, or something really profound… [during that time] you learned it.”
For King, the lesson was this: she could still create joy, even in the shadow of sorrow. Even after she should have been broken.
Because at the end of the day, Regina King is not just a teller of other people’s stories: she’s the author of her own. She is a woman who has held grief in one hand and grace in the other, and somehow kept moving forward. Her voice has never been more grounded, her purpose never more personal.
She’s come to understand that joy and grief aren’t opposites, but companions — that you can ache and still laugh, shatter and still shine. She’s learned to carry it all: the weight, the wonder, the memory, the momentum. She’s here, wide open to whatever comes next — with clarity, with courage, and with a glass of orange wine raised to the sky.

Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix
A spectacular venue for one of the world’s premiere races.
BY TIM LAPPEN
MONACO! THE NAME CONJURES UP SO MANY IMAGES — luxury, yachting, glamour, gambling, James Bond, Princess Grace and, of course, for the car and racing fans around the globe, arguably the most elegant and alluring of all of the world’s automotive racetracks (a grand prix circuit since 1929), with a course that’s completely comprised of the city’s streets. The Monaco circuit joined the nascent Formula 1 program in 1950 and has held the world’s attention ever since.
To fully set the stage when discussing this famous race, Monaco is a principality (closely aligned with France) and covers only about 515 acres. Put another way, Monaco is substantially smaller than New York City’s Central Park, which is almost 850 acres. Its capital, Monte Carlo, has a name with even more of a cachet than Monaco (if that’s possible), since that’s the name of one of the most famous gambling casinos. Interestingly, even though Monaco is so small, Monte Carlo is but one of four distinct districts of Monaco and about 70 acres in size.
The grand prix (“grand prize”) of Monaco started with cars designed mostly for street use (for well-heeled car enthusiasts) about 100 years ago. Today, Formula 1 races are for purpose-built high-speed and higher-tech machines to vie for supremacy. Each F1 team today, with their incredible support networks, now includes dozens (sometimes hundreds) of specialists, some connected by high-speed internet connections to their home factories perhaps thousands of miles away. And lest we forget, I hasten to add that the piloti are very highly paid drivers, with salaries rumored to exceed $65 million. Fielding a Formula 1 team can run up to a rumored $150,000,000 per team (comprised of two cars and two drivers) every year. Let that sink in for a minute.
My son Jay and I were fortunate enough to attend this year’s Monaco Grand Prix — and what a trip it was! The setting is drop-dead gorgeous, where the French coast transitions into the hills of Monaco, which dramatically meet the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Luxury yachts vie for mooring locations where they can back up mere feet from the race track, and local airports are filled with private jets. It’s one of the toniest gatherings anywhere, a location where the world’s best machines and the most proficient drivers meet in front of huge crowds; estimated to include 250,000 people for the four-day event in June of each year. Monaco’s is one of the 24 F1 races this year to see who will be crowned the “King of the Hill.”

At the Monaco Grand Prix, since the track is so narrow, qualifying laps before race day determine the starting position, which is particularly critical at this circuit; a high percentage of the race’s winners have started the race in the number one position. This year’s race was no different. McLaren’s two entries — having an absolutely spectacular Formula 1 year — started in first and third spots on the starting grid and both finished the race in the same pole positions. Formula 1 races end based on elapsed total time, which can be extended due to inclement weather, accidents, and so forth, but only up to three hours — they typically last about 90 minutes. The Monaco race lasts 78 laps, and the Monaco circuit is the shortest of Formula 1 tracks at a little over two miles, and, due to the narrowness of the track and the number of turns, it’s also the slowest (typically 95 to 100 miles per hour). The first ten finishers are awarded points based on the order that their cars pass the start/finish line after the first car has completed the race. Therefore, especially in Monaco, the determining factors of who is the winner are qualifying position (based on how quickly they drive during the prior day’s qualifying sessions), how fast they handle pit stops, whether they are able to pass other cars, and if they can avoid having an accident or a mechanical breakdown.
Depending on the circuit and the weather, cars must change tires at least once every race and must use at least two of what typically are three types of tires (soft, medium, and hard) plus sometimes rain tires. Part of the strategy is determining what tire to use and when since — all things equal — the soft tires can provide higher cornering speeds but wear out faster. Also, while it might provide some speed advance to change tires several times, especially as the weather changes, pit stops eat up precious time, though they now are down to an exact science (a Ferrari driver’s 2.0 second tire change was this year’s fastest pit stop in Monaco). At this year’s race, the finishing position was determined by mere seconds — the winner, Lando Norris of Team McLaren, won in just over one hour and forty minutes; second place, Charles LeClerc of Team Ferrari, was about three seconds behind him; and third place, Oscar Piastri of Team McLaren, about three seconds behind him.
It is fitting that the other story in this month’s magazine is about the McLaren 750S, which pretty much is a race car for the street. So as you will see, what was learned on the track informs a lot of what will show up on the road. Luckily for me, both the Monaco trip and the McLaren loan were complete winners.

2025 McLaren 750S
Canyon-carver to night-on-the-town in one sleek package.
BY TIM LAPPEN
FAITHFUL READERS KNOW THAT I AM A BIG FAN OF THIS BRITISH BRAND. McLarens always feel faster than their specifications, meaning that they may accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in under three seconds, but they feel like they’re even quicker than that. And, after all, isn’t that what most of us want from performance? I mean, top speed is great and all that but for the daily stoplight grand prix, initial acceleration is the trump card.
I am writing this early in July, having just returned from the Monaco Grand Prix, where I watched McLaren dominate that race and several others since, so it was an absolutely perfect time to borrow their Earth-bound rocket, the 750S Coupe.
McLaren classifies their cars into three categories:
Supercars: Artura (coupe and spider) and 750S (coupe and spider), with base prices from about $255,000 to about $345,000
GTs: GTS, with a base price of about $220,000
Ultimates: W1, Elva, Senna and Senna GTR, and Speedtail, with base prices from about $1.7 million to about $2.25 million
Luckily for me, this story is about the 2025 McLaren 750S, which I was lucky enough to borrow for several days just weeks after watching McLaren take first and third pole positions at at the 2025 Monaco F1 Grand Prix.
Let’s start with the looks. The car looks fast as it’s sleek, low, and seems to have been sculpted by the wind. As much as I like open-top cars, the coupe looks even more streamlined. With extra carbon fiber bits and optional front fender vents, “my” Mantis Green machine looks both elegant and menacing, the perfect blend for a 740-horsepower machine with a dry weight of just over 2,800 pounds that can whip from zero to 60 miles per hour in about 2.8 seconds. (The car pictured in this article is McLaren’s racing team’s color, Papaya Orange). Clearly the body is writing checks that the engine, the seven-speed transmission and suspension, are more than ready to cash.
The purpose-built interior adds to the visual excitement — in my case with more carbon fiber add-ons (the Carbon Fiber Interior Pack adds about $8,750 and the 750S’ Performance Interior Pack comes with a $9,400 price tag). The beautiful speaker grills, part of the excellent Bowers & Wilkins 12-speaker audio system ($5,400), green contrast stitching (plus $850), and other accoutrements make the business office of this performance machine both serious and gorgeous.
Add a few more bells and a couple of whistles, like the Exterior Details Carbon Fiber Pack ($10,780) and the base price of $343,500 accelerates to $426,750.
I am not sure that it’s sufficient to say what it’s like to “drive” this car, as I felt more like I was wearing it, somewhat like an exoskeleton. And I mean that in a good way as the car is so incredibly responsive that it almost sensed what I was planning to do before I did it. I love the sound and the fury of the 750S’s rear, mid-mounted dual-overhead-cam twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, and with maximum power arriving at 7,500 RPM, it’s an incredible screamer. Some say that naturally aspirated engines (with no turbos) sound better than the rest, but the 750S creates an aria that comes directly from the car gods.
McLaren says that this is their lightest and most-powerful series production supercar ever and it sure feels it. Its stunning beauty is matched only by its incredible performance. With 740 horsepower, it has almost 30 more ponies than the model it replaces (the 720S), and it also weighs about 65 pounds less than its predecessor. Whether on the freeway, the boulevards, Mulholland Highway, or the twisties of the Malibu canyon roads, the 750S is completely at home and a joy to experience.

LONDON CALLING
THE HAUTEST LUXURY HOTELS IN THE BIG SMOKE.
BY LAURA SCHREFFLER
THE DORCHESTER
The Dorchester isn’t just a hotel — it’s a London legend, reborn. Since 1931, this Park Lane icon has defined British luxury, and its recent refresh only elevates the magic. Designer Pierre-Yves Rochon brings gardeninspired hues, hand-painted de Gournay headboards, and bespoke floral details to light-filled rooms and suites, while even the corridors get a glow-up with custom carpets. The Vesper Bar oozes Bond-era glamour, and the Artists’ Bar dazzles with mirrored pianos and cocktails inspired by original artworks. Dining impresses at every turn — from Alain Ducasse’s three-Michelin-starred French fine dining to China Tang’s decadent dim sum and modern British plates at The Grill by Tom Booton. With a world-class spa and the chic new boutique Cake & Flowers, The Dorchester feels as timeless as ever — but completely of-the-moment. 53 Park Ln, W1K 1QA
THE PENINSULA LONDON
The Peninsula London, located in elegant Belgravia, is where British sophistication meets the warmth of Asian hospitality. Designed by Peter Marino, its 190 serene rooms and suites feel like private sanctuaries. Think: floor-to-ceiling windows, bespoke British details, and marble bathrooms stocked with locally inspired Scents of the City. Service is next-level, with a signature jade-green fleet (including an electrified vintage Austin taxi) offering stylish rides around central London. Wellness is front and center, thanks to a tranquil spa with Thai-inspired treatments and an ozone-filtered indoor pool lined with plush loungers. Dining is an experience in itself — especially at Canton Blue, where the design evokes a 19th-century Chinese junk in the most cinematic, transportive way. Every inch of this hotel is a love letter to detail, culture, and calm. The Peninsula may be a newcomer to London’s luxury scene, but it arrives with the quiet confidence of an instant icon. 1 Grosvenor Pl, SW1X 7HJ
THE CONNAUGHT
The Connaught is the definition of quiet glamour — understated, elegant, and effortlessly iconic. The new Suite Collection at this Mayfair mainstay is a study in thoughtful luxury: expect cocktails mixed tableside by the World’s 50 Best award-winning The Connaught Bar team, pastries by Nicolas Rouzaud, and even shoeshines courtesy of John Lobb. But it’s the atmosphere that truly sets it apart. Every detail, from the Guy Oliver and David Collins Studio-designed suites to the handcrafted touches by Turquoise Mountain Foundation artisans, is intentionally refined and deeply British. Dining is just as elevated, with three-Michelin-starred Hélène Darroze leading the charge while Haute Living ambassador Jean-Georges Vongerichten brings a modern twist with his eponymous Jean-Georges at The Connaught. Whether you’re savoring a martini at the world-famous Connaught Bar, slipping into serenity at the Aman Spa, or indulging in wood-fired excellence at the Connaught Grill, it all feels quietly cinematic. BVLGARI HOTEL LONDON
When you want your London stay to feel cinematic, seductive, and quietly extravagant, Bvlgari Hotel London delivers. Set in sleek Knightsbridge, just steps from Harrods and Hyde Park, it’s a masterclass in Italian glamour with a British edge. The rooms and suites — some of the city’s largest — are all glossy marble, rich silks, and sculptural design. The crown jewel? The 4,300-square-foot Bvlgari Suite with wraparound terraces and next-level privacy. Below ground, the 25,000-square-foot spa is a sanctuary of stillness, complete with a 82-foot pool, 111Skin and Swiss Perfection facials, and private vitality suites. Add in a private cinema, curated cigar lounge, and Sette by NYC’s Scarpetta team, and you’ve got modern luxury done right. 171 Knightsbridge, SW7 1DW
ROSEWOOD LONDON
Hidden behind a grand carriageway near Covent Garden, Rosewood London feels more like a private manor than a hotel. Housed in a restored Belle Époque building, it makes a dramatic first impression with its marble staircase and soaring dome. The rooms and suites — especially the Grand Manor House Wing, complete with its own postcode — exude the polish of a chic London residence, blending elevated finishes with quiet glamour. But there’s more. Scarfes Bar is a World’s 50 Best libation destination, known for live jazz, witty cocktails, and walls lined with hand-drawn caricatures. Holborn Dining Room serves up British brasserie classics, while The Pie Room is heaven for pastry lovers. THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL LONDON AT TOWER BRIDGE
Tucked inside a grand 1920s Beaux-Arts landmark just steps from the Tower of London, the Four Seasons Hotel London at Tower Bridge is the kind of place that makes you whisper ‘wow.’ The vibe? Historic British power meets modern luxury, all under a soaring rotunda that once belonged to the Port of London Authority. Rooms and suites feel quietly opulent, with just the right amount of drama — and if you’re lucky enough to land one of the private residences or the 9,000-square-foot Skyline Penthouse, prepare for next-level indulgence (private cinema, gym, skyline views). The Roman-inspired spa is a destination in itself, complete with a hammam, vitality pool, and world-class facials. And the dining? From the Michelin-starred La Dame de Pic to dim sum at Mei Ume, it’s all top-tier. 10 Trinity Square, EC3N 4AJ
THE BEAUMONT MAYFAIR
The Beaumont feels less like a hotel and more like a well-kept secret. Tucked into a quiet Mayfair garden square, it’s all old-world charm and Art Deco elegance — lacquered wood, leather banquettes, brass details — executed with effortless style. There’s nothing flashy here, just timeless design and soul in every corner. The standout? The Antony Gormley ROOM, a suite that doubles as a sculpture and an experience. Service is warm and intuitive, the kind that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. Magritte Bar is pure late-night magic — negronis, jazz, and just the right amount of mischief, while the hotel’s newest concept, Rosi, will offer a spirited interpretation of Modern British dining come September. The Beaumont doesn’t clamor for attention. It doesn’t need to. It simply gets everything right, quietly and confidently. The result? A hotel you return to — not just because it’s beautiful, but because it feels like yours. 8 Balderton St, Brown Hart Gardens, W1K 6TF

Dreamed up by a group of friends with deep local ties, it’s a love letter to the area’s eccentric past and electric now. Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the interiors are pure fantasy — Jazz Age glamour meets Italian romance, English cheek, and a touch of disco sparkle. It’s less hotel, more seductive townhouse, where every corner surprises with texture, color, and personality. It is equal parts luxury and mischief — a winning combination. 20 Broadwick St, W1F 8HT
NOMAD LONDON
Set inside Covent Garden’s historic Bow Street Magistrates’ Court, NoMad London feels more like a decadent New Yorker’s townhouse than a traditional hotel. It’s moody, magnetic, and packed with surprises — from the soaring glass atrium at Twenty8, where foie gras-stuffed chicken and Galician steak take center stage, to a cheeky martini menu that reimagines NYC cocktail culture. Martin Brudnizki’s design is pure maximalist fantasy: think vintage palm court, dramatic hearth, and rattan-glam accents alongside portraits of Oscar Wilde. Upstairs, the World’s 50 Best award-winning bar, Side Hustle, serves up Latin American flavors in a sultry, candlelit space, while The Library is a velvet-draped haven of art books and quiet luxury. It’s all layered, indulgent, and effortlessly cool — a love letter to London, New York, and the spaces in between. 28 Bow St, WC2E 7AW

Its 93 rooms and suites strike the perfect balance between classic charm and cutting-edge tech (even pets are pampered). But it’s not just about where you sleep. THE GORING HOTEL
If you know, you know — and if you don’t, meet The Goring: London’s most charmingly English five-star hotel. Family-owned since 1910 and the only hotel ever granted a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen (appropriate, given that it’s located in Belgravia near Buckingham Palace), it’s long been the go-to for royals, dignitaries, and lovers of tradition done right. With just 69 rooms and suites (including the regal Royal Suite), it blends grandeur and intimacy with ease. Expect footmen in scarlet coats, Michelin-starred dining by Russell Sage, and rooms wrapped in Gainsborough silks. The private garden — London’s largest for a luxury hotel — is a dreamy spot for afternoon tea or a sun-soaked G&T. Add in theatrical tableside service and cocktails crafted with herbs grown on-site, and you’ve got a stay that feels both timeless and personal. 15 Beeston Pl SW1W 0JW
THE SAVOY
The Savoy has always defined London glamour, and its 2025 redesign marks a bold new chapter. Partnering with the acclaimed G.A Group, the hotel has reimagined its Edwardian and Art Deco rooms with rich textures, modern elegance, and a deep respect for its storied past. Edwardian rooms feel luminous and romantic — ivory silks, marble, and Savoy Theatre-inspired art — while Art Deco spaces go bold with geometric lines, high-gloss finishes, and signature green tones. Many suites offer sweeping Thames views, framed by custom window seats perfect for lingering, just as Monet once did. Even the amenities are upgraded: yoga mats in every room, Dyson hairdryers in suites, intuitive controls, and color-shifting vanity mirrors. The chic new all-day restaurant, Gallery, adds to the refresh. With this glow-up, The Savoy remains as iconic as ever — steeped in history, yet perfectly poised for the now. Strand, WC2R 0EZ
45 PARK LANE
The Dorchester Collection’s 45 Park Lane is The Dorchester’s art-savvy, steak-loving younger sister — sleek, seductive, and unapologetically modern. With just 45 Art Deco-inspired rooms and suites, it feels like a private Mayfair residence (with Hyde Park views and a Wolfgang Puck restaurant downstairs). Interiors by Thierry Despont channel moody glamour — all sculptural lines, rich textures, and mirrored details — while a rotating collection of contemporary British art (yes, that’s a Damien Hirst in the dining room) makes the hotel feel more like a gallery than a lobby. CUT at 45 Park Lane is a destination in its own right — Puck’s first European restaurant — and upstairs, BAR 45 is where Londoners in the know come for vintage Negronis and a few “Rough CUTs” (steak sliders, wagyu skewers) with their martinis. Down a hidden hallway, Sushi Kanesaka offers a Michelin-starred omakase that’s pure theatre. Add in personal hosts for every room, a stunning spa and pool, and you’ve got a hotel that nails high-touch service with downtown cool. 45 Park Ln, W1K 1PN
RAFFLES LONDON AT THE OWO
Raffles London at The OWO is pure James Bond fantasy, and rightly so. Set in the former Old War Office — where Winston Churchill strategized and spies once roamed — this storied building has been transformed into one of London’s most opulent new hotels. Think sweeping staircases, showstopping interiors by Thierry Despont, and suites inspired by wartime legends (some with gold bathtubs and dedicated footmen). Mauro Colagreco’s Michelin-starred restaurant leads the dining lineup, alongside the hush of the Drawing Room and the underground intrigue of Spy Bar — a covert speakeasy tucked inside a former interrogation room, complete with secret passages and a vintage Bond car. There’s also a Guerlain spa and a sense throughout that history isn’t just preserved — it’s elevated. Raffles’ first UK property pulls no punches: dramatic, dazzling, and built for legends. 57 Whitehall, SW1A 2BX

THE BEAUTY IN HOROLOGY
Chanel unveils the Blush Watch capsule collection — a collection dedicated to the Maison’s beauty universe.
BY ADRIENNE FAUROTE
CHANEL’S WATCHMAKING CREATION STUDIO, UNDER THE DIRECTION of Arnaud Chastaingt, introduced a new collection that aims to translate the graphic intensity and chromatic audacity of Chanel’s makeup legacy into the realm of haute horlogerie. Drawing inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel’s forays into fragrance and cosmetics in the 1920s, the Blush collection melds the esthetic codes of beauty — powders, lipsticks, and lacquered cases — with the precision of Swiss watchmaking.
Chastaingt channels Chanel’s elegant simplicity, seen in the N°5 perfume, into timepieces that juxtapose black ceramic with vibrant pinks and reds from Chanel Beauty palettes, evoking Dripping Art and Pop Art.
The J12 Blush watches, available in 38 mm and 33 mm, anchor the collection. Powered by COSC-certified Caliber 12.1 (70-hour power reserve) and Caliber 12.2 (50-hour reserve) from Kenissi, they offer reliable performance with water resistance of 200 m and 50 m, respectively. The black ceramic case, a J12 hallmark, contrasts with pink and red lacquered
bezels and dials, creating a gradient effect reminiscent of makeup palettes. The 38 mm model features a unidirectional bezel, while the 33 mm dazzles with 46 baguette-cut pink sapphires (~4.04 carats).
Craftsmanship shines through métiers d’art like grand feu enamel, decal, and hand-set gemstones. The J12 Pink Line balances black ceramic baguettes with pink sapphires, while the J12 Pink Palette’s hammered pink sapphires mimic makeup textures. The exclusive Dripping Art box set of five J12s, with enamel splashes in rose beige to bold pink, nods to Jackson Pollock and Chanel nail polishes. The BOY·FRIEND Coco Art watch, with a Pop Art-inspired enamel dial, and the Protect Me and Kiss Me necklaces further blur jewelry and horology.
The Blush collection is a celebration of Chanel’s identity, transforming watches into wearable art. As Chastaingt poses the question: “Why not ‘put makeup’ on time to make it more beautiful? This vision of beauty became the heartbeat of the entire collection.”

IN WITH A BANG
Hublot unveils the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve.
BY ADRIENNE FAUROTE
HUBLOT CONTINUES ITS PURSUIT OF INNOVATION WITH THE LAUNCH of the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, a bold addition to the Square Bang series. Known for challenging traditional norms, Hublot brings a new level of complexity and refinement to square watchmaking with this latest piece. It is the first Square Bang to feature two central hands and to house a Tourbillon, setting a new benchmark for form-meetsfunction design.
Hublot’s engineers developed the MHUB6023 manual movement exclusively for this release. With 174 components, each meticulously designed and placed, the movement features rectangular and square bridges rather than the typical circular architecture. A skeletonized structure amplifies the visual depth, revealing a beautifully constructed system that plays with light, geometry, and dimensionality.
The watch’s square geometry defines the entire architecture of the timepiece. Every component is arranged symmetrically along the square format, offering esthetic balance and mechanical integrity. On the right side is the winding system, while the left houses the power reserve indicator. At the top, the large barrel holds the energy to deliver an impressive 96-hour power reserve, and the Tourbillon sits at the bottom, anchored in precision.
CEO Julien Tornare, who took the helm in September 2024, has entered with a big bang at Hublot. He notes that most brands stop at square cases, but Hublot dared to go further. “Until now, advances in square watches have been rather timid, usually confined to the case alone. With the Square Bang Tourbillon 4-Day Power Reserve, we wanted to take the exercise to its logical conclusion, by designing a movement whose architecture is also fully rightangled. The bridges are straight, clean, and sharp, as if to protect a movement that always beats to the rhythm of a perfect circle, that of the Tourbillon, barrel, and power reserve. The fusion is complete,” he explains.
The Square Bang Tourbillon integrates square bridges and a fully rightangled internal layout, an innovation in the world of high-end mechanical watchmaking. This design philosophy perfectly embodies Hublot’s “Art of Fusion” — where tradition meets trailblazing engineering.
Adding to the novelty is its 3D carbon case, measuring 42 mm across and 13.2 mm thick. The case’s design is built using woven carbon composites arranged in horizontal and vertical structures to echo the square theme throughout. This lightweight yet durable material not only enhances wearability, but adds a sleek, modern edge to the timepiece.
Another standout feature is the power reserve display at the nine o’clock position, which accurately tracks the remaining energy with clear legibility. The use of a silicon escapement in the Tourbillon enhances resistance to magnetic fields and temperature variations — challenges commonly encountered in everyday wear — ensuring reliability under diverse conditions.
Introduced as the first Square Bang to include a Tourbillon, this timepiece sits at the intersection of artistic architecture and horological mastery.

Orange You Glad Omega Finally Did This?
Introducing Bond’s citrusy new Seamaster.
BY ANDRE FROIS
WHEN ACTOR KOHJI MORITSUGU APPEARED IN RETURN OF ULTRAMAN (1971) wearing a Speedmaster with an orange chronograph hand, orange accents in watchmaking were far from fashionable. The watch — a 1968 Omega Speedmaster Ref. 145.012 — played no role in the storyline, yet its presence was unforgettable. Collectors would later nickname it the Speedmaster “Ultraman,” and the orange-tipped hand became a cult symbol among Omega enthusiasts.
Believed to be the first Omega to sport the color orange, the “Ultraman” marked the beginning of a long-running love affair between the brand and the vibrant hue. Since then, orange has become nearly as synonymous with Omega as it is with the Dutch people. The brand, famed for timing the Olympics, landing on the moon, and industrializing George Daniels’ co-axial escapement, has returned to orange periodically, answering the call of collectors with models like the Speedmaster Mark II Racing Dial, the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15,000 Gauss, and the bold Seamaster Ploprof. Most notably, orange became a defining characteristic of the Seamaster Planet Ocean series, which introduced full orange bezels and straps into Omega’s design language.
Now, for the first time, orange has arrived on the Seamaster Diver 300M, aka James Bond’s favorite watch.

Under a domed sapphire crystal, orange accents bring zesty energy to the model’s classic 42 mm form. The lollipop seconds hand, cardinal hour markers, and the “Seamaster” logo are all rendered in bright orange, standing out against a matte black anodized aluminum dial that replaces the Diver 300M’s usual wave pattern. The scalloped unidirectional bezel, helium escape valve, and prominent crown guards retain the line’s utilitarian DNA.
Buyers can choose between a brushed stainless steel mesh bracelet with a folding clasp or a bold integrated orange rubber strap with a deployant clasp.
As you would expect of an Omega, its Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 is METAS-certified, anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss, and equipped with the brand’s signature free-sprung balance with silicon hairspring. The finishing, visible through the sapphire caseback, includes trademark arabesque Geneva waves that adorn the oscillating weight.
You hardly need a writer to describe it and can see these subtly elegant touches yourself. But it bears repeating that few brands handle color and contrast with the finesse Omega does. The result is easy on the eyes: a timepiece that offers exceptional legibility and exudes understated elegance.
Carrera Continuation
Introducing the TAG Heuer EuropeanExclusive Carrera Chronograph.
BY ADRIENNE FAUROTE
TAG HEUER CONTINUES ITS CARRERA EXPANSION WITH THE LAUNCH of the Carrera Chronograph Limited Edition. Available exclusively in Europe, this timepiece embodies TAG Heuer’s innate connection to racing. This latest addition to the Carrera collection speaks directly to adventurers and motorsport enthusiasts who seek sophistication without sacrificing functionality. Its deep blue opaline dial, complemented by turquoise subdials and vibrant yellow accents, reimagines an iconic 1950s Heuer design with a bold modern twist.
The TAG Heuer Carrera collection is renowned worldwide for its timeless, sporty appeal and refined chronograph designs. Since its inception over six decades ago, it has captivated aficionados with clean lines, distinctive case shapes, and unparalleled legibility. The new Carrera Chronograph continues this tradition while injecting fresh energy through its thoughtful design and bold color combinations.
The design of this limited-edition timepiece draws inspiration from the original Heuer Seafarer watches. Created for explorers, athletes, and travelers, these vintage models now enjoy legendary status among collectors. A standout feature of the new Carrera Chronograph is its subdial layout. The turquoise blue accents at three o’clock and silver finishes across the dial are a nod to regatta countdown timers, while lacquered yellow hands evoke the spirit of boundless freedom and adventure. The 42 mm brushed and polished steel case strikes a balance between durability and elegance, making it suitable for a variety of occasions. The polished steel bezel, paired with a white flange featuring distinctive triangular fiveminute indicators, ensures perfect legibility — a signature characteristic of TAG Heuer’s design philosophy.
The chronograph’s dial layout includes three subdials: a turquoise and silver minute counter at three o’clock, a permanent rhodium-plated seconds indicator at six o’clock, and an azuré silver hour counter at nine o’clock. Lacquered yellow hands add visual contrast and modern vibrancy, while rhodium-plated, polished, and faceted hour markers enhance the watch’s luxurious esthetic.
Powering this timepiece is the in-house Calibre TH20-00 movement, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. This automatic movement features bi-directional winding, a shield-shaped oscillating weight, and an impressive 80-hour power reserve, making it as functional as it is beautiful. Completing the look is a perforated blue calf leather strap with contrasting light blue stitching, secured by a brushed and polished steel folding clasp. The Carrera line has long stood as a symbol of TAG Heuer’s close ties to motorsport, with its clean lines and sporty sophistication reflecting the adrenaline-fueled world of racing. This new model pays homage to that heritage while embracing contemporary design cues that appeal to today’s luxury watch buyers.

LOUIS VUITTON WELCOMES A NEW BOOK TO ITS RENOWNED FASHION EYE COLLECTION: NEW YORK BY KATIE BURNETT.
BY ADRIENNE FAUROTE
PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF LOUIS VUITTON
This summer, Louis Vuitton unveils a captivating addition to its Fashion Eye collection that has manifested itself into a love letter to New York, New York by Katie Burnett. This latest photo album is a vibrant ode to Manhattan, where playfulness and tenderness converge in a kaleidoscope of city portraits. Burnett, wielding her iPhone like a painter’s brush, holds up an interpretive mirror to the iconic city, crafting an abstract puzzle that is both charming and mysterious.
Louis Vuitton’s Fashion Eye collection is part of a pioneering catalogue of over a hundred titles, encompassing city guides, sketchbooks, photo albums, art books, and literary accounts. The brand’s City Guide series, a cornerstone of its travel-centric offerings, has spent over two decades exploring 35 global metropolises, from Paris to Tokyo. With contributions from writers and eclectic guests, these guides offer a subjective lens on the world’s most dynamic cities, spotlighting trends in fashion, design, contemporary art, cuisine, and culture.

New York is a city where anyone can become their truest self, free from restrictions or judgments. In this new Fashion Eye book, the liberating energy of New York has been captured by Burnett. Through her lens, the city’s hallmarks — the subway’s gritty pulse, the towering skyscrapers, the swirling smoke, the Statue of Liberty — are reimagined through her signature collages. These stereotypes, far from clichéd, become reference points in a visual narrative that dances between chaos and poetry. Over two consecutive summers, Burnett wandered Manhattan’s deserted streets with no fixed agenda, capturing the city’s contrasts through curious framing and a keen eye for geometric beauty. Her work transforms Gotham into a backdrop where she herself is the protagonist, weaving an intriguing portrait that feels both intimate and expansive.

ENDURING MUSE JAPaN’S
LOUIS VUITTON’S VISIONARY JOURNEYS EXHIBITION AT OSAKA’S NAKANOSHIMA
MUSEUM OF ART, PAIRED WITH A FORTHCOMING RIZZOLI BOOK, CELEBRATES THE HOUSE’S 170-YEAR DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIP WITH JAPAN.
BY ADRIENNE FAUROTE

In the heart of Osaka, Louis Vuitton unveils an extraordinary testament to its deep-rooted connection with Japan.
The Louis Vuitton:Visionary Journeys exhibition at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art (running through September 19, 2025) is a complex exploration of a cultural dialogue that has shaped the Maison’s legacy for over 170 years. Accompanying this landmark showcase is the book, Louis Vuitton — Japan, Visionary Journeys, published by Rizzoli New York, set to release this October — a manifest to the mutual admiration between the French Maison and Japanese artistry.
Since its founding in 1854, Louis Vuitton has been captivated by Japan’s esthetic precision and innovative spirit. The exhibition and book, curated by historian Florence Müller with a foreword by chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari, trace this symbiotic relationship from the House’s pioneering trunk designs to its profound influence on global fashion. The iconic Monogram pattern, inspired by Japanese heraldic motifs, is a striking example of how Japan’s design ethos has woven itself into Louis Vuitton’s DNA. From its bold expansion into the Japanese market to its role in shaping street style, the House has continually drawn from Japan’s wellspring of creativity.

The Visionary Journeys exhibition is a sensory immersion into this legacy. Visitors are transported through time, from Louis Vuitton’s early innovations to its one-of-a-kind collaborations with Japanese art luminaries like Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama. These partnerships have redefined luxury, blending high fashion with pop culture in ways that resonate worldwide. The exhibition also spotlights landmark collections by artistic directors past and present — Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones, Virgil Abloh, Nicolas Ghesquière, and Pharrell Williams — each of whom has looked to Japan for inspiration, crafting pieces that marry tradition with avant-garde flair.
The accompanying book, enriched with contributions from leading experts in fashion, art, and history, delves deeper into this narrative. It reveals how Louis Vuitton’s fascination with Japanese culture has not only enriched its heritage but also pushed the boundaries of what luxury can be. From the meticulous craftsmanship of its trunks to the vibrant energy of its modern collections, the House’s journey with Japan is one of constant reinvention.

YOUTH FOUNTAIN OF
DIOR PRESTIGE CONTINUES TO SET THE GOLD STANDARD WITH ITS LATEST INNOVATION: LE MICRO-SÉRUM DE ROSE YEUX ACTIVATED.
BY ADRIENNE FAUROTE

While aging is certainly inevitable, Dior Beauty has spent years bottling the secrets to anti-aging through breakthrough innovations in its Dior Prestige line. Backed by half a century of Dior Science and the expertise of the Dior Reverse Ageing Board, the new Le Micro-Sérum de Rose Yeux Activated is a revolutionary eye serum that harnesses the micro-nutritive power of the Rose de Granville, redefining anti-aging care for perhaps our most delicate area, the eyes.
Historically — and scientifically — the area around the eyes is the most precious, often giving way to signs of aging first through sagging eyelids, dark circles, and over-pronounced wrinkles. And, Dior Science’s groundbreaking research reveals that a copper deficiency — down by 24 percent in aging skin — compromises elasticity and firmness. Therefore, the Prestige Le Micro-Sérum de Rose Yeux addresses this with its advanced Nutri-Rosapeptide complex, now enriched with rosehip extract and twice as concentrated in copper. This highly curated formula, six times more powerful than Vitamin C in supporting skin density, restores radiance and rejuvenates the eye contour.

What sets this serum apart is its synergy of science and nature. The Rose de Granville, a floral jewel cultivated through seven hybridizations, boasts 22 micronutrients and exceptional resilience. Dior’s custom thermo-extraction process, rooted in green chemistry, preserves the rosehip’s molecular integrity.
The serum’s ultra-fluid, iridescent texture, infused with micropearls and blurring powders, instantly neutralizes dark circles and enhances glow, offering a luminous, smoothed appearance from the first application.
The Prestige Le Micro-Sérum de Rose Yeux Activated experience is further elevated by a patented 360-degree applicator, featuring eleven rotating ceramic micro-pearls on a flexible stem, which allows for sculpting the eye contour while delivering a cooling sensation to relieve fatigue.
Dior Prestige remains an industry leader, creating products that blend exceptional efficacy with pure luxury, with the Le Micro-Sérum de Rose Yeux Activated perfectly embodying the Maison’s legacy.

MISS DIOR THE EVOLUTION OF
MISS DIOR ENTERS A NEW ERA WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF MISS DIOR ESSENCE.
BY ADRIENNE FAUROTE

Dior Beauty has revitalized one of its most iconic fragrances, Miss Dior. This fall, the Maison unveils Miss Dior Essence. “Just as Miss Dior is transformed into a slogan on a dress, the perfume too speaks volumes and gets straight down to the ‘essentials,’ with a fruity composition brimming with life, sunshine, and energy,” notes Francis Kurkdjian, the perfume creation director at Christian Dior Parfums. Crafted by Kurkdjian, Miss Dior Essence achieves an unprecedented intensity for the Maison, where Miss Dior Essence takes on her own personality: she is bold yet hyper-feminine;she is intense yet incredibly delicate;she is, in essence, a contemporary woman. From an olfactory perspective, the jasmine sambac blooms with wild luxuriance while deep, sensual oak wood anchors the base, interwoven with the juicy sweetness of blackberry jam and delicate elderflower. This deeply fruity, woody, and floral composition is a sensory manifesto — confident, persistent, and unapologetically daring.
The iconic “bottle cut like a suit” returns to its roots, adorned in its original hues, but the bow is now tied in luxurious black grosgrain ribbon. For the first time, the lid is crafted from sophisticated glass, its four sides frosted and etched with Dior’s houndstooth pattern — a timeless nod to the Maison’s heritage.
As Kurkdjian simply puts it, “In its concentrated Miss Dior Essence version, the fragrance holds up an olfactory mirror to confident femininity.”
Jorge Fajardo J.D.
BY DARBY KORDONOWY
JORGE FAJARDO, J.D., IS MORE THAN A FINANCIAL expert — he’s a mentor, educator, and one of the most trusted Latino voices in wealth creation. With over 20 years in financial services, he has helped families, entrepreneurs, and professionals take control of their finances and build sustainable futures. As founder of KPI Capital Partners, he blends strategic insight with ethical values, offering clients more than advice — a roadmap to legacy.
Recently, Fajardo became the first Latino entrepreneur to interview Sophia, the world’s most recognized humanoid robot, during the Global Family Office Investor Summit in Dubai. The conversation explored AI, clean energy, and innovation — central to his latest venture, the Energy Fund, which accelerates renewable energy adoption. “People don’t just want to grow their money,” he says. “They want to grow it in a way that reflects who they are and what they care about.”
Starting KPI Capital with just $1,000, Fajardo applied creative real estate strategies, such as contract assignments, and expanded into large-scale developments like a Cape Coral community project. His mission extends beyond profit to fostering connection, community, and long-term growth.
Energy innovation is a pressing focus for Fajardo, who warns that global energy consumption could rise 500 percent in five years due to emerging technologies. His solution: invest in “stranded energy”sites and convert them into power for data centers, easing pressure on public grids.
A regular contributor to Univision, he simplifies complex financial concepts for the public. Sustainability, education, and mentorship remain at the heart of his work. “Perseverance and grit are key,” he notes. “You can’t just talk the talk — you have to walk the walk.”
Through finance, innovation, and purpose, Jorge Fajardo is redefining wealth — not by capital alone, but by vision, inclusion, and lasting impact.

SENSATIONAL SIPS
Add these Los Angeles bars to your “must try” list.
BY LAURA SCHREFFLER
BAR AVOJA
Bar Avoja is the latest effort of Giancarlo Pagani and chef Evan Funke — the duo behind LA’s power-dining favorite, Mother Wolf. But this time, they’re turning the volume down (just slightly) and channeling something a little more intimate: a moody Roman villa meets modern-day street food scene. Named after Roman slang for “hell yes,” Bar Avoja is equal parts refined and rebellious. The former MARS space has been transformed into a velvety little hideaway layered with walnut wood, inky blues, and just the right amount of dimly lit drama. It’s not quite a bar, not quite a restaurant — it’s what the Italians would call a terzo spazio, a third place made for lingering. The vibe is indulgent, but not precious. While the menu leans into the evolving spirit of Roman street food — with cheeky, elevated spins on classics like fiori di zucca, pizza al taglio, arancini cacio e pepe, and dreamy dolci the cocktail list is quietly glamorous. Expect elegant riffs on Italian staples made with top-tier spirits and seasonal LA produce — like the Morso Di Vita with Grey Goose, Chinola passion fruit, tomato, basil, and lemon, as well as the Santa Infuocata, mixing Malfy gin, Meyer lemon honey, and Olio Santo olive oil — like an enoteca with edge. 1545 Wilcox Ave, Los Angeles, 90028
BAR NEXT DOOR
Bar Next Door is one of West Hollywood’s cheekiest cocktail dens to date — a bold, buzzy love letter to the Sunset Strip’s wild past and glittering present. Helmed by hospitality heavy-hitter Lawrence Longo and creative bar director Brynn Smith of Rossoblu and Sotto fame, it’s a thoroughly modern neighborhood bar with an unapologetically LA point of view. The drinks? Iconic. Try the Olive Drive Martini (hailed as one of the best in the country), a clarified pink Paloma with Beverly Hills Hotel energy, and a high-low riff on whisky and coke that nods to the iconic Whisky a Go-Go. Every pour is a wink to local landmarks and legends — from the glam to the gritty. 9159 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, 90069
BAR BENJAMIN
There’s a new reason to stay out late in Hollywood — and it’s perched right above one of its buzziest restaurants. Meet Bar Benjamin, an intimate, designforward cocktail bar tucked above The Benjamin Hollywood on Melrose. Dreamed up by Ben Shenassafar (of The Hundreds), nightlife veteran Jared Meisler (The Roger Room, Bar Lubitsch), and Kate Burr (A La Mode), Bar Benjamin feels like a glamorous throwback with just the right dose of modern irreverence. Inside, it’s all moody Art Deco elegance: caramel-stained wood paneling, high-back mohair booths, and a Hi-Fi sound system flanked by vintage Maxville speakers. The wraparound balcony delivers cinematic views of the Hollywood Hills — best taken in with one of the bar’s wildly inventive cocktails in hand. Speaking of which: beverage legends Jason Lee and Chad Austin are behind the menu, and they did not hold back. Think spicy mezcal laced with Szechuan peppercorns, parmesan-washed rum, coconut-lemongrass foam, and fig and mango brandies you’ve never heard of but now can’t live without. Don’t miss the Inherent Vice (Miami Vice, but clarified and genius), the umami-bomb Miso Caramel Manhattan. Guests can also expect a rotating welcome sip upon arrival. 7174 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
