THE DAYS WHEN THE AQUANAUT COLLECTION STOOD IN the shadow of its famous sibling, the Nautilus, are long gone. With its powerful yet elegant lines, the Aquanaut acquired many fans, and Patek Philippe delighted them recently with new additions to the collection. AQUANAUT CHRONOGRAPH GOES FOR GOLD
In 2018, Patek Philippe introduced the very first chronograph in the Aquanaut collection. The Reference 5968 featured a stainless-steel case with a black dial. For 2021, the brand is launching two new versions, both with a white gold case. Through their dial and composite straps, they each get a different accent. The khaki green model seems made to explore a luscious tropical forest. The other has a nautical vibe, with a stunning dial that goes from navy blue in the center to a darker tone at the edges. Both are powered by caliber CH 28520 C, which combines a traditional column wheel to control the chronograph function, with Patek Philippe’s innovating vertical disc clutch. AQUANAUT LUCE IS BIGGER AND BOLDER
It is not only men who have embraced the Aquanaut as the perfect casual and elegant sports watch. Women have been equally passionate fans, and for them, Patek Philippe is introducing the Aquanaut Luce Reference 5267/200A, with a larger diameter of 38.8mm. It is available with a dial and matching strap in three colors: black, matte white and khaki green. All feature a stainless-steel case with a diamondset bezel and are fitted with a quartz movement. The new Aquanaut Luce Automatic Reference 5268/200R-001 is also fitted with the new, larger case, yet here it’s made from pink gold matched with a matte white dial and matching strap. This model is powered by self-winding caliber 26-330 S C. TRAVEL IN STYLE WITH REFERENCE 5269/200R
The biggest surprise among Patek Philippe‘s recent additions to the Aquanaut collection is the Reference 5269/200R. Known as the Aquanaut Luce Travel Time, it is fitted with a new movement inspired by the caliber used in Reference 5164. However, to offer women wearers even more convenience and comfort, the brand’s new caliber E 23-250 S FUS 24H lacks the two pushers and instead controls the setting of the second time zone by the crown. This impressive travel watch has a rose gold case on which polished and satin-brushed surfaces amplify the iconic lines. The finishing touch is also the cherry on top: a bezel set with 48 brilliant-cut diamonds, weighing well over a carat.

Hublot confirms its eighth consecutive appointment as official timekeeper of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud while also helping to celebrate the reopening of a renowned Geneva eatery.

SUMMER IS A TIME FOR RENEWAL. HUBLOT reconfirmed its close ties with the Bol d’Or Mirabaud as official timekeeper for eighth consecutive season and took the opportunity to present its new collaboration with chef JeanEdern Hurstel.
The Bol d’Or Mirabaud allows Hublot to proudly demonstrate its attachment to its roots in Geneva and its love of sailing. It is the world’s biggest inland lake regatta, running between the two ends of Lake Geneva, from Geneva to Le Bouveret. Around 500 boats were on the starting line for the 123-kilometer route, with its changing winds and sometimes troubled waters.
The gleaming hulls of the yachts cutting through the blue water inspired Hublot’s new Classic Fusion Chronograph Bol d’Or Mirabaud, a tricolor watch that is made exquisite by the combination of glossy gray steel, matte black and deep navy blue. Both sporty and elegant, with its 45-mm black satin-effect ceramic case and its topstitched technical-fabric strap, the watch is well suited to wear on the sea or around town.
Stepping away from the tumultuous Lake Geneva, we head up the bank through the city of Geneva, where the Hublot boutique at 86 Rue du Rhône has undergone refurbishment and is thrilled to welcome its customers in a new ambiance.
The brand is also helping to celebrate the reopening of Le Floris, a restaurant that has been an institution in Geneva for more than 50 years. The new Le Floris by JeanEdern Hurstel sets out to be a place that adapts to different times of the day, offering gastronomic-fusion cuisine, a lounge bar and an elegant bistro area called La Pinte that serves local delicacies.
Hublot is thrilled to associate itself with this iconic establishment and with the talented Hurstel, who, like the watchmaking house, loves shaking up tradition and creating the unexpected while striving for excellence. Chef Hurstel has built his reputation through his work in the kitchen and also his unforgettable stint on the French edition of the TV show Top Chef.
After working at four Michelin-starred restaurants under chefs such as Alain Ducasse and Alain Passard, Hurstel decided to broaden his horizons in Dubai, where he worked in several five-star hotels. He then returned to Paris, where he managed the opening of the Peninsula and became the youngest executive chef of a luxury hotel in France. He opened Edern, his own restaurant on the Champs-Elysées, before taking over Le Floris in Geneva. And the adventure at Le Floris by Jean-Edern Hurstel has only just begun.

High-Tech Tourbillons
Take a look at Richard Mille’s new RM 74-01 and RM 74-02.
BY MARTIN GREEN
IN THE HIGH-TECH WORLD OF RICHARD MILLE, BEAUTY AND innovation go hand in hand. This is proven once more by two new tourbillons, RM 74-01 and RM 74-02, which combine a manufacture automatic tourbillon movement with a luscious tonneau-shaped case made from innovative materials.
The new RM 74-01 can best be described as ultra-light elegance. This starts with the movement, for which Richard Mille used grade 5 titanium to craft the baseplate and bridges. The oscillating weight, which can be adjusted to the owner’s activity level, is crafted from white gold, with a weight segment made from platinum for increased winding efficiency. The smooth look of the case is achieved by utilizing grey cermet. This material, exclusively used in watchmaking by Richard Mille, combines the light weight of titanium with the hardness of ceramic. While challenging to make, it not only impresses with its qualities but also with its stunning gray color.
Compared to the RM 74-01, the RM 74-02 is much more extroverted. This watch is an ode to gold. The bezel and caseback are made from Gold Carbon TPT, a material proprietary to Richard Mille that consists of no less than 600 layers of carbon filament, each less than 30 microns thick. They are placed on top of one another, each layer turned at a 45-degree angle to the one below to achieve optimum strength. By adding pure gold leaf in between, the most precious version of Carbon TPT comes to life, and also the most difficult one, as it is quite a challenge to fuse the gold with the carbon in such a way that ensures the strength of the material. The baseplate and bridges are also beautifully fashioned from gold.
