One of my favorite ways to do this is with removable wallpaper — it's a fun and easy way to refresh a room and give it a whole new look and feel. Whether it's a dramatic wallpaper, with strong contrast and a fun theme, or a more elegant look and softer colors — the change is quick, fun to do and so satisfying to see the difference a little wallpaper can make. Next spring — or next season — it's easy to change it up again since it comes down even easier than it went up. Natural elements such as a raw teakwood table, a branch with lichen found in a pasture, or organic fabrics for bed linens, maybe an antique or vintage piece found at a yard sale, the twice a year shopping extravaganza, known as Round Top, or even better, an existing heirloom piece that nods to one’s own personal history or heritage; these are a few of my favorite things. Designing using these somewhat unusual, and sometimes surprising elements, mixed with new pieces for functionality and staging it all in a comfortable and understated way is what I love best any season. Far too long the walls and floors have received all of the love in design. Ceilings are getting the royal treatment this season.
