I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, graduated from Michigan State University and lived in Chicago and on the West Coast until a marketing career with Coca-Cola relocated our family to Austin and Lakeway 12 years ago. I quickly fell in love with Texas and have adopted it as my home state. I even convinced my parents to retire in Lakeway and found them the perfect home! My three children are entrenched in the Lake Travis community. Reid graduated from Lake Travis High School last May and attends Texas Tech University. Hugh is a freshman at LTHS and Celeste is at Bee Cave Middle School. I am a proud LT football, golf and swim team mom and sponsor and have met so many wonderful friends and families in this community.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO OPEN FLIP’N ART IN HILL COUNTRY GALLERIA?

In 2015 we lost our income abruptly and out of necessity popped up on South Congress to sell Chacasso’s art. We were there for 3 years and met thousands of people along the way. The thing we learned the most is that people want to own Original Art but have unfortunately been ostracized from it. Having met hundreds of artists as well we became passionate to support them and create a bridge between local artists and the people of our great city.

WHAT IS FLIP’N ART?

There is an over-abundance of unwanted Art and frames being unnecessarily discarded. Flip’N Art was created when Chacasso started ‘flipping’ these unwanted pieces by painting into or over them. By doing this we are able to keep our costs down and pass savings to art lovers. Donations are always welcome and can even earn discounts toward an Original Art piece. 100% of proceeds from Flip’N Art goes towards us continuing to support the artist community.

Visit Sculpture on Main Street Fest in Marble Falls, November 8th-9th Every Fall, the Highland Lakes Creatives Arts, a 501c3 in the Texas Hill Country, hosts the Sculpture on Main Street Fest. This year it will be November 8th-9th and feature live music, a dedication of Marble Falls' new art collection, beer and wine with an incredible sculpture collection and shopping. A large tent will be centrally located on Marble Fall's bustling Main Street. Inside the tent will be a number of Texas Society of Sculptors artists with their pieces. In addition to the great art, we will have live music on both days, with Pauline Reese exciting our visitors from 5-7pm on Friday, November 8.

Tell us more about the art displayed at Street Fest.

There are two displays for SOM's Street Fest - one is a one to two year residency in which sculptures are installed along Main Street for the community and visitors to enjoy throughout the year. These pieces, as you might imagine, are rather large in scale.

Second, the weekend of Street Fest, the TSOS feature table-top and floor pieces in a variety of mediums in a centrally located tent on Main Street.

This event has a larger mission to help out the local community and students.

What are your plans for this?

Highland Lakes Creative Arts was established to foster and promote the creative and performing arts in the Texas Hill Country. In part, we accomplish this with Sculpture on Main Street Fest. All local art students and the community at large have been invited to attend a sculpture demo on Saturday 11/9. Sculpture On Main, along with Street Fest, are designed to provide art in public spaces, to establish Marble Falls and the Lake LBJ area as an art destination for tourists and residents alike.
