Croeso Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth o Droseddau Casineb 2026: Mae gan Bawb Ran i'w Chwarae Mae Canolfan Cymorth Casineb Cymru yn falch o'ch croesawu i gylchlythyr Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth o Droseddau Casineb eleni. Mae Wythnos Genedlaethol Ymwybyddiaeth o Droseddau Casineb yn cynnig cyfle pwysig i ddod at ein gilydd, myfyrio ar y realiti y mae pobl yn ei wynebu ledled ein cymunedau, ac ailddatgan ein hymrwymiad ar y cyd i greu Cymru lle gall pawb fyw’n ddiogel, yn agored a heb ofn rhagfarn na gelyniaeth. Mae thema eleni yn canolbwyntio ar hil, gan roi sylw arbennig i brofiadau ceiswyr lloches a ffoaduriaid. Ar adeg pan fydd y drafodaeth gyhoeddus ynghylch mudo yn aml yn gallu dod yn bolareiddiedig, mae’n hanfodol ein bod ni'n cofio’r straeon dynol sydd y tu ôl i’r penawdau. Mae llawer o bobl sy'n ceisio nawdd yng Nghymru wedi ffoi rhag rhyfel, erledigaeth neu wrthdaro, ac maent yn ailadeiladu eu bywydau mewn amgylchiadau anghyfarwydd. Maen nhw'n haeddu urddas, parch a'r cyfle i deimlo'n rhan o'n cymunedau. Ar yr un pryd, rydym yn cydnabod bod y tirlun o ran troseddau casineb yn parhau i esblygu. Ar draws Cymru a gweddill y DU, rydym yn gweld gelyniaeth gynyddol yn cael ei chyfeirio at amrywiaeth o gymunedau.
Mae hyn yn cynnwys pobl sy'n cael eu targedu oherwydd eu hil, cenedligrwydd, crefydd, anabledd, cyfeiriadedd rhywiol neu hunaniaeth rhywedd. Mae effaith gelyniaeth o'r fath yn ddofn, gan effeithio ar les, diogelwch, hyder ac ymdeimlad pobl o berthyn. Nid yw troseddau casineb yn ymwneud â digwyddiadau unigol yn unig. Mae’n dylanwadu ar ba mor ddiogel y mae pobl yn teimlo yn eu cymdogaethau, a ydynt yn cymryd rhan ym mywyd y gymuned, ac a ydynt yn credu y byddan nhw'n cael eu trin yn deg ac â pharch. Pan na chaiff rhagfarn ei herio, mae pawb yn cael eu heffeithio. I'r gwrthwyneb, pan fydd cymunedau'n sefyll gyda'i gilydd yn erbyn casineb a rhwygau, mae pawb yn elwa. Y newyddion da yw bod gan Gymru draddodiad cryf o undod, tosturi a gweithredu yn y gymuned. Bob dydd, mae unigolion a sefydliadau ledled y wlad yn gweithio i gefnogi dioddefwyr, herio rhagfarn, hyrwyddo dealltwriaeth ac adeiladu perthnasoedd cryfach rhwng cymunedau. Drwy gydol y cylchlythyr hwn, byddwn yn rhannu enghreifftiau o'r arfer da hwnnw, yn tynnu sylw at brosiectau arloesol, yn rhannu dysgu gan ymarferwyr ac yn arddangos y gwaith sy'n cael ei wneud ledled Cymru i atal casineb a chefnogi'r rhai sy'n cael eu heffeithio ganddo.
Welcome Hate Crime Awareness Week 2026: Everyone Has a Part to Play The Wales Hate Support Centre is proud to welcome you to this year’s Hate Crime Awareness Week Newsletter. National Hate Crime Awareness Week provides an important opportunity to come together, reflect on the realities faced by people across our communities, and reaffirm our collective commitment to creating a Wales where everyone can live safely, openly, and without fear of prejudice and hostility. This year’s theme focuses on race, with particular attention to the experiences of asylum seekers and refugees. At a time when public debate around migration can often become polarised, it is vital that we remember the human stories behind the headlines. Many people seeking sanctuary in Wales have fled war, persecution, or conflict and are rebuilding their lives in unfamiliar circumstances. They desire dignity, respect, and the opportunity to feel part of our communities. At the same time, we recognise that the landscape of hate crime continues to evolve. Across Wales and the wider UK, we are seeing growing hostility directed towards a range of communities. This includes people targeted because of their race, nationality, religion, disability,
sexual orientation, or gender identity. The impact of such hostility is profound, affecting people's wellbeing, safety, confidence, and sense of belonging. Hate crime is not simply about individual incidents. It influences how safe people feel in their neighbourhoods, whether they participate in community life, and whether they believe they will be treated fairly and with respect. When prejudice goes unchallenged, everyone is affected. Conversely, when communities stand together against hatred and division, everyone benefits. The good news is that Wales has a strong tradition of solidarity, compassion, and community action. Every day, individuals and organisations across the country are working to support victims, challenge prejudice, promote understanding, and build stronger relationships between communities. Throughout this newsletter, we will be sharing examples of that good practice, highlighting innovative projects, sharing learning from practitioners, and showcasing the work being undertaken throughout Wales to prevent hate and support those affected by it. However, awareness alone is not enough. Hate Crime Awareness Week reminds us that we all have a role to play.
Croeso Fodd bynnag, dydy ymwybyddiaeth ar ei phen ei hun ddim yn ddigon. Mae Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth o Droseddau Casineb yn ein hatgoffa bod gan bob un ohonom rôl i'w chwarae.
Drwy bartneriaeth, addysg ac ymwybyddiaeth, gallwn barhau i gryfhau ymateb Cymru i gasineb ac adeiladu cymdeithas lle mae amrywiaeth yn cael ei gwerthfawrogi yn hytrach na'i ofni.
P'un a ydym yn weithwyr proffesiynol, yn wirfoddolwyr, yn arweinwyr cymunedol, yn gyflogwyr, yn addysgwyr, yn gymdogion, yn ffrindiau neu'n aelodau o'r teulu, mae ein gweithredoedd yn bwysig. Gallwn herio stereoteipiau niweidiol, cefnogi'r rhai sy'n profi gelyniaeth, creu mannau croesawgar, adrodd am ddigwyddiadau casineb ac annog eraill i wneud yr un peth. Mae camau bach, sy'n cael eu cymryd yn gyson, yn cyfrannu at newid ystyrlon.
Wrth i chi ddarllen y cylchlythyr hwn, rydym yn eich gwahodd i ystyried pa rôl y gallwch ei chwarae wrth wneud Cymru'n fwy diogel, yn fwy teg ac yn fwy cynhwysol.
Mae Canolfan Cymorth Casineb Cymru yn parhau i ymrwymo i sicrhau bod dioddefwyr a thystion yn gwybod i bwy i droi am gymorth, a bod gan gymunedau'r wybodaeth a'r hyder i ymateb yn effeithiol i droseddau casineb.
Gyda'n gilydd, gallwn herio casineb, cefnogi'r rhai sydd wedi'u heffeithio, a dangos nad oes lle i gasineb yn ein cymunedau. Oherwydd nid cyfrifoldeb ychydig o bobl yn unig yw creu Cymru sy'n rhydd rhag casineb. Cyfrifoldeb pob un ohonom ni ydyw. Becca Rosenthal The Wales Hate Support Centre Manager

Welcome Whether we are professionals, volunteers, community leaders, employers, educators, neighbours, friends, or family members, our actions matter. We can challenge harmful stereotypes, support those who experience hostility, create welcoming spaces, report hate incidents, and encourage others to do the same. Small actions, taken consistently, contribute to meaningful change. The Wales Hate Support Centre remains committed to ensuring that victims and witnesses know where to turn for support and that communities have the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively to hate crime. As you read this newsletter, we invite you to reflect on what role you can play in making Wales safer, fairer, and more inclusive.
Through partnership, education, and awareness, we can continue to strengthen Wales's response to hate and build a society where diversity is valued rather than feared. Together, we can challenge hatred, support those affected, and demonstrate that there is no place for hate in our communities. Arweinwyr Cymunedol
WYTHNOS GENEDLAETHOL YMWYBYDDIAET TROSEDDAU CASINEB 2026
Arweinwyr Cymunedol: Adeiladu Cymunedau Mwy Diogel a Chryf Mae gan bob cymuned bobl sy'n helpu i ddod ag eraill ynghyd, creu newid cadarnhaol a dylanwadu ar sut mae pobl yn meddwl ac yn ymddwyn.
Maen nhw'n helpu pobl i gael mynediad at wybodaeth, rhoi llwyfan i leisiau lleol, nodi pryderon a dod â phobl ynghyd o amgylch nodau cyffredin.
P’un a ydyn nhw’n arweinwyr ffydd, gweithwyr ieuenctid, cynghorwyr lleol, athrawon, gwirfoddolwyr, actifyddion, hyfforddwyr chwaraeon neu drigolion uchel eu parch, mae arweinwyr cymunedol yn chwarae rhan bwysig yn siapio diwylliant y lleoedd rydyn ni’n byw ynddyn nhw.
Yn bwysig, dydy arweinyddiaeth effeithiol ddim yn cael ei diffinio gan statws nac awdurdod yn unig.
Ar adeg pan mae cymunedau ledled Cymru yn parhau i groesawu pobl o gefndiroedd amrywiol, gan gynnwys ceiswyr lloches a ffoaduriaid, nid yw rôl arweinwyr cymunedol wrth hyrwyddo dealltwriaeth, parch a diogelwch erioed wedi bod yn bwysicach.
Pŵer Dylanwad
Beth yw Arweinydd Cymunedol?
Mae pobl yn aml yn fwy tebygol o ymddiried mewn gwybodaeth sy'n cael ei rhannu gan unigolion maen nhw'n eu hadnabod a'u parchu.
Arweinydd cymunedol yw rhywun sy'n cael ei ymddiried ynddo, ei barchu, ac sy'n gallu dylanwadu ar eraill o fewn cymuned neu rwydwaith penodol. Gall ddal swydd arweinyddiaeth ffurfiol, fel arwain sefydliad neu gynrychioli ardal leol, ond mae llawer o arweinwyr cymunedol yn dod i'r amlwg yn anffurfiol trwy eu gweithredoedd, eu perthnasoedd a'u hymrwymiad i gefnogi eraill. Yn aml, mae arweinwyr cymunedol yn gweithredu fel pont rhwng unigolion, cymunedau, gwasanaethau a phobl sy'n gwneud penderfyniadau.
Yn aml, mae wedi'i wreiddio mewn empathi, uniondeb ac ymrwymiad gwirioneddol i les pobl eraill.
Mae arweinwyr cymunedol yn dylanwadu ar fwy na phenderfyniadau a gweithgareddau. Maen nhw'n helpu i lunio agweddau, ymddygiadau a normau cymdeithasol.
Mae hyn yn golygu y gall arweinwyr cymunedol chwarae rhan arwyddocaol wrth herio mythau, mynd i'r afael â chamwybodaeth ac annog dealltwriaeth rhwng gwahanol grwpiau. Gall y ffordd y mae arweinwyr yn ymateb i faterion gael effaith eang ar draws cymuned. Pan fydd arweinwyr yn siarad yn gadarnhaol am gynhwysiant, yn herio rhagfarn ac yn dangos tosturi, maen nhw'n helpu i greu amgylchedd lle mae eraill yn teimlo eu bod yn cael eu hannog i wneud yr un peth.
HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026
Community Leaders
Community Leaders: Building Safer, Stronger Communities Every community has people who help bring others together, create positive change, and influence how people think and behave.
They help people access information, amplify local voices, identify concerns, and bring people together around shared goals.
Whether they are faith leaders, youth workers, local councillors, teachers, volunteers, activists, sports coaches, or respected residents, community leaders play an important role in shaping the culture of the places where we live.
Importantly, effective leadership is not defined by status or authority alone.
At a time when communities across Wales continue to welcome people from diverse backgrounds, including asylum seekers and refugees, the role of community leaders in promoting understanding, respect and safety has never been more important.
The Power of Influence
What is a Community Leader? A community leader is someone who is trusted, respected, and able to influence others within a particular community or network. They may hold a formal leadership position, such as leading an organisation or representing a local area, but many community leaders emerge informally through their actions, relationships and commitment to supporting others. Community leaders often act as a bridge between individuals, communities, services and decision-makers.
It is often rooted in empathy, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of others.
Community leaders influence more than decisions and activities. They help shape attitudes, behaviours and social norms. People are often more likely to trust information shared by individuals they know and respect. This means community leaders can play a significant role in challenging myths, addressing misinformation, and encouraging understanding between different groups. The way leaders respond to issues can have a ripple effect throughout a community. The way leaders respond to issues can have a ripple effect throughout a community. When leaders speak positively about inclusion, challenge prejudice, and demonstrate compassion, they help create an environment where others feel encouraged to do the same.
Arweinwyr Cymunedol Ar y llaw arall, gall aros yn dawel yn wyneb gwahaniaethu ganiatáu i agweddau ac ymddygiadau niweidiol gael eu normaleiddio'n anfwriadol. Mae arweinyddiaeth gadarnhaol yn bwysig oherwydd ei bod yn gosod y naws ar gyfer sut mae cymunedau'n ymateb yn ystod cyfnodau o ansicrwydd neu newid.
Arweinwyr Cymunedol ac Atal Niwed Dydy troseddau casineb a rhagfarn ddim yn digwydd ar eu pen eu hunain. Gallant gael eu dylanwadu gan ofn, camwybodaeth, stereoteipiau a diffyg cyswllt ystyrlon rhwng gwahanol grwpiau o bobl. Mae arweinwyr cymunedol mewn sefyllfa dda i helpu i atal y ffactorau hyn rhag gwaethygu a throi'n niwed. Gallant: HYRWYDDO GWYBODAETH GYWIR Gall naratifau ffug a chamwybodaeth ddwysáu gelyniaeth tuag at unigolion a grwpiau, yn enwedig ceiswyr lloches a ffoaduriaid. Gall arweinwyr cymunedol helpu drwy rannu gwybodaeth gywir, cyfeirio at ffynonellau dibynadwy ac annog sgyrsiau adeiladol yn seiliedig ar ffeithiau yn hytrach na rhagdybiaethau. CREU CYFLEOEDD I GYSYLLTU Mae ymchwil yn dangos yn gyson y gall cyswllt ystyrlon rhwng pobl o gefndiroedd gwahanol leihau rhagfarn a chynyddu dealltwriaeth. .
WYTHNOS GENEDLAETHOL YMWYBYDDIAET TROSEDDAU CASINEB 2026 Gall arweinwyr cymunedol gefnogi gweithgareddau sy'n dod â chymunedau ynghyd, gan greu cyfleoedd i bobl ddysgu o brofiadau ei gilydd ac adeiladu perthnasoedd cadarnhaol. HERIO CASINEB A GWAHANIAETHU Gall arweinwyr cymunedol ei gwneud hi'n glir nad yw casineb, gwahaniaethu ac anoddefgarwch yn dderbyniol. Drwy fod yn llais yn erbyn ymddygiad niweidiol a chefnogi'r rhai sy'n cael eu heffeithio, maen nhw'n helpu i sefydlu safonau cymunedol yn seiliedig ar barch ac urddas. CEFNOGI DIODDEFWYR AC ANNOG ADRODD AM DDIGWYDDIADAU Mae llawer o ddioddefwyr troseddau casineb yn amharod i adrodd am eu profiadau oherwydd pryderon ynghylch cael eu credu, ofn canlyniadau neu ansicrwydd ynghylch y gefnogaeth sydd ar gael. Gall arweinwyr cymunedol helpu i feithrin hyder drwy godi ymwybyddiaeth o opsiynau adrodd am ddigwyddiadau, rhoi sicrwydd a chyfeirio at wasanaethau cymorth arbenigol. GWEITHREDU FEL EIRIOLWYR DIBYNADWY Yn aml, mae gan arweinwyr cymunedol berthnasoedd cryf â thrigolion a sefydliadau lleol. Mae hyn yn eu galluogi i nodi pryderon sy'n dod i'r amlwg, cynrychioli profiadau'r gymuned ac eirioli dros ymatebion sy'n hyrwyddo diogelwch a chynhwysiant.
HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026 Conversely, silence in the face of discrimination can unintentionally allow harmful attitudes and behaviours to become normalised. Positive leadership matters because it sets the tone for how communities respond during times of uncertainty or change.
Community Leaders and the Prevention of Harm Hate crime and prejudice do not occur in isolation. They can be influenced by fear, misinformation, stereotypes, and a lack of meaningful contact between different groups of people. Community leaders are well placed to help prevent these factors from escalating into harm. They can: PROMOTE ACURATE INFORMATION False narratives and misinformation can fuel hostility towards individuals and groups, particularly asylum seekers and refugees. Community leaders can help by sharing accurate information, signposting trusted sources, and encouraging constructive conversations based on facts rather than assumptions. CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONNECTION Research consistently shows that meaningful contact between people from different backgrounds can reduce prejudice and increase understanding.
Community Leaders Community leaders can support activities that bring communities together, creating opportunities for people to learn from one another's experiences and build positive relationships. CHALLENGE HATE AND DISCRIMINATION Community leaders can make it clear that hate, discrimination and intolerance are not acceptable. By speaking out against harmful behaviour and supporting those affected, they help establish community standards based on respect and dignity. SUPPORT VICTIMS AND ENCOURAGE REPORTING Many victims of hate crime are reluctant to report their experiences due to concerns about being believed, fear of repercussions, or uncertainty about available support. Community leaders can help build confidence by raising awareness of reporting options, providing reassurance, and signposting to specialist support services. ACT AS TRUSTED ADVOCATES Community leaders often have strong relationships with local residents and organisations. This enables them to identify emerging concerns, represent community experiences, and advocate for responses that promote safety and inclusion.
Arweinwyr Cymunedol CEFNOGI CEISWYR LLOCHES A FFOADURIAID Mae pobl sy'n chwilio am loches yng Nghymru yn aml yn cyrraedd ar ôl profi gwrthdaro, erledigaeth neu galedi sylweddol. Er bod llawer o gymunedau’n cynnig croeso cynnes a chadarnhaol, gall ceiswyr lloches a ffoaduriaid weithiau gael eu targedu gan gamwybodaeth, gelyniaeth neu agweddau gwahaniaethol. CEATE OPPRTUNITIES FOR CONNECT Gall arweinwyr cymunedol chwarae rhan hanfodol wrth feithrin amgylcheddau croesawgar drwy: Rannu straeon cadarnhaol sy'n tynnu sylw at gyfraniadau a phrofiadau ffoaduriaid a cheiswyr lloches. Annog empathi a dealltwriaeth. Cefnogi mentrau sy'n hyrwyddo integreiddio a chyfranogiad. Herio iaith a naratifau sy’n rhoi stigma annheg ar bobl sy’n ceisio diogelwch. Creu mannau lle gall pobl o gefndiroedd gwahanol gwrdd, gwrando a dysgu oddi wrth ei gilydd.
Gall gweithredoedd bach gael effaith sylweddol. Gall sgwrs groesawgar, datganiad cyhoeddus o gefnogaeth neu ddigwyddiad cymunedol sy'n dathlu amrywiaeth helpu i feithrin ymdeimlad o berthyn a lleihau teimladau o ynysu. ARWAIN DRWY ESIAMPL Efallai mai'r arf mwyaf pwerus sydd ar gael i unrhyw arweinydd cymunedol yw ei esiampl. Mae cymunedau'n edrych at unigolion dibynadwy i ddeall pa ymddygiadau a gwerthoedd sy'n ddisgwyliedig ac yn dderbyniol.
WYTHNOS GENEDLAETHOL YMWYBYDDIAET TROSEDDAU CASINEB 2026 Drwy ddangos caredigrwydd, parch, chwilfrydedd a thosturi, mae arweinwyr cymunedol yn helpu i feithrin cymunedau lle nad yw gwahaniaethau’n cael eu hofni, ond yn cael eu gwerthfawrogi. Maen nhw'n creu amgylcheddau lle mae pobl yn teimlo'n ddiogel i gymryd rhan, cyfrannu a pherthyn. Wrth i Gymru barhau i hyrwyddo cydraddoldeb, cynhwysiant a chydlyniant cymunedol, mae arweinwyr cymunedol yn parhau i fod ar flaen y gad o ran creu lleoedd lle gall pawb fyw’n rhydd rhag casineb a gwahaniaethu. Nid cyfrifoldeb un sefydliad neu sector yn unig yw atal troseddau casineb.. Mae'n ymdrech ar y cyd. Mae gan arweinwyr cymunedol allu unigryw i ddod â phobl ynghyd, cryfhau cysylltiadau cymdeithasol a helpu i sicrhau bod ein cymunedau'n parhau i fod yn ddiogel, yn groesawgar ac yn gefnogol i bawb.
HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026 SUPPORTING ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES People seeking sanctuary in Wales often arrive having experienced conflict, persecution or significant hardship. While many communities offer warm and positive welcomes, asylum seekers and refugees can sometimes be targeted by misinformation, hostility or discriminatory attitudes. CEATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONNECT Community leaders can play a crucial role in fostering welcoming environments by: Sharing positive stories that highlight the contributions and experiences of refugees and asylum seekers. Encouraging empathy and understanding Supporting initiatives that promote integration and participation. Challenging language and narratives that unfairly stigmatise people seeking safety. Creating spaces where people from different backgrounds can meet, listen and learn from one another.
Small actions can have a significant impact. A welcoming conversation, a public statement of support, or a community event that celebrates diversity can help build a sense of belonging and reduce feelings of isolation. LEADING BY EXAMPLE Perhaps the most powerful tool available to any community leader is their example. Communities look to trusted individuals to understand what behaviours and values are expected and accepted.
Community Leaders By demonstrating kindness, respect, curiosity, and compassion, community leaders help build communities where differences are not feared but valued. They create environments where people feel safe to participate, contribute and belong. As Wales continues to champion equality, inclusion, and community cohesion, community leaders remain at the forefront of creating places where everyone can live free from hatred and discrimination. Hate crime prevention is not the responsibility of one organisation or sector alone. It is a collective effort. Community leaders have a unique ability to bring people together, strengthen social connections, and help ensure that our communities remain safe, welcoming and supportive for all.

Archwiliwch yr enghreifftiau hyn i ddarganfod syniadau ymarferol, dysgu o brofiadau pobl eraill, a gweld sut y gall camau bach wneud gwahaniaeth mawr wrth greu cymunedau mwy diogel a chydlynol.
Mapio Gwres Graffiti - Caerdydd Yn aml, mae graffiti'n cael ei ddiystyru fel problem ddibwys, ond mewn rhai achosion, gall gynnwys negeseuon o gasineb, rhwygau neu eithafiaeth sy'n effeithio'n negyddol ar ba mor ddiogel y mae pobl yn teimlo yn eu cymunedau. Mae ein map gwres graffiti yn ein helpu i nodi patrymau a thueddiadau drwy gofnodi lleoliad a chategori digwyddiadau a adroddwyd ledled Caerdydd. Mae hyn yn ein galluogi i sylwi ar faterion sy'n dod i'r amlwg, fel digwyddiadau sy'n digwydd dro ar ôl tro ger ysgolion, mannau addoli neu fannau cymunedol eraill, a rhannu gwybodaeth berthnasol gyda phartneriaid drwy ein prosesau monitro tensiynau. Gall cael gwared ar negeseuon niweidiol yn brydlon atal eu gweld, lleihau'r risg o ddigwyddiadau tebyg, a rhoi sicrwydd i gymunedau lleol bod eu pryderon yn cael eu cymryd o ddifrif. Drwy droi adroddiadau unigol yn ddarlun ehangach o weithgarwch ledled y ddinas, mae'r map gwres yn cefnogi ymateb cydlynol rhwng gwasanaethau fel Diogelwch Cymunedol a Glanhau Strydoedd, gan ein helpu i ddeall materion lleol yn well a diogelu cydlyniant cymunedol. Graffiti Heat Mapping - Cardiff Graffiti is often dismissed as a minor issue, but in some caGraffiti is often dismissed as a minor issue, but in some cases it can contain messages of hate, division, or extremism that negatively affect how safe people feel in their communities. ses it can contain messages of hate, division, or extremism that negatively affect how safe people feel in their communities. Our graffiti heat map helps us identify patterns and trends by recording the location and category of reported incidents across Cardiff. This enables us to spot emerging issues, such as repeated incidents near schools, places of worship, or other community spaces, and share relevant information with partners through our tensions monitoring processes. The mapping also helps ensure that incidents are reported and addressed quickly. Prompt removal can prevent harmful messages from gaining visibility, reduce the risk of copycat incidents, and reassure local communities that concerns are being taken seriously. By turning individual reports into a wider picture of activity across the city, the heat map supports a coordinated response between services such as Community Safety and Street Cleaning helping us better understand local issues and protect community cohesion. The success of the heat map relies on reports from local residents, businesses and community groups. If you see graffiti in your area, please report it through the Cardiff Gov App or via the web link below. Your report helps us remove harmful material quickly, identify emerging trends, and ensure that incidents affecting community cohesion are monitored and addressed. T-Shirt Competition The Mid and South West Wales Community Cohesion Team's T-shirt competition was launched during the "Young People in Modern Wales and Hate Crime" online session in January 2026, which explored the impact of hate on children and young people and highlighted the importance of creating inclusive and cohesive communities. Youth groups from across the region were invited to develop bold and inspiring T-shirt designs promoting respect, inclusion and unity. The competition encouraged young people to express positive messages about diversity, belonging and standing against hate through creative design. The winning entry came from an Aberystwyth-based church youth group. Their design successfully captured the competition's themes of community cohesion, mutual respect and inclusion. As a result, the design was selected for professional printing and wider promotion, and the group received the competition's £200 prize. The competition showcased the creativity and commitment of young people in helping to build stronger, safer and more welcoming communities across Mid and South West Wales.
The Community Cohesion Team is delighted with the winning entry. The design conveys a strong and positive message about standing together against hate, while celebrating the diversity that enriches our communities. The creativity, thought and passion shown by the young people involved demonstrates the important role they play in building a more inclusive Wales for everyone.

Bryn T irion Hall School, Wrexham, North Wales - Empowering young people to challenge prejudice At BTH school, an independent special school supporting young people aged 7 - 16 with social, emotional and behavioural challenges, we recognise the importance of helping pupils to understand and respect difference, recognise discrimination and understand the impact that their words and actions can have on others. Our whole-school approach combines education, early intervention and individualised support. Pupils explore protected characteristics, equality, race and hate crime, alongside topics such as bullying versus banter, positive relationships, online behaviour and the role of bystanders and upstanders. Learning is reinforced through Police workshops, safeguarding awareness, assemblies and Children's Rights activities. Where additional support is needed, we provide bespoke interventions including ELSA sessions, individual and small-group work and restorative conversations. Staff also receive dedicated training to recognise and respond effectively to bullying and discriminatory behaviour. For our pupils, this is about more than simply knowing that bullying or hate crime means.
By helping young people recognise prejudice, understand its impact and develop the confidence to challenge it, we aim to create a culture where everyone feels safe, respected and included.”
It is about developing empathy, recognising when behaviour crosses a line, understanding its impact and having the confidence and strategies to make safer, more positive choices

Supporting Ukrainian Communities Through Hate Crime Awareness Training in Caerphilly Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Resettlement Scheme is responsible for helping the people who moved from Ukraine to the area to be able to settle into the local community. Law, police and justice can look different in different countries. The team wanted to raise awareness of Hate Crime and reporting to empower those in the community due to a rise in racism against Ukrainian immigrants in the area. Working in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Resettlement Scheme and Torfaen Community Cohesion Team, Hate Crime Awareness training was delivered to 22 members of the Ukrainian community to help increase understanding of hate crime, reporting options and available support services. The session was designed to be fully accessible, with a Ukrainian interpreter,Easy Read materials and Ukrainian-anguage resources helping participants engage confidently with the content.
Good Practice The training explored hate crime legislation, protected characteristics and routes to support, while also providing practical guidance on community safety and accessing emergency assistance. Open discussions allowed attendees to share experiences of settling into life in Wales, ask questions about unfamiliar systems and develop a greater understanding of their rights and responsibilities. Participants showed a strong interest in learning about diversity, inclusion and the support available should they experience discrimination or hatemotivated incidents. A key outcome was increased awareness of specialist hate crime services, with many attendees intending to share what they had learned with family, friends and wider Ukrainian networks. By combining accessible communication, community engagement and partnership working, the project has helped Ukrainian residents feel better informed, more confident in seeking support and more empowered to play an active role in their local communities.

New Hate Crime Toolkit Launched at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
After many months of hard work, a new Hate Crime Toolkit for the health board was approved by the Equality and Human Rights Strategic Forum and published internally in August of this year. Jen Dowell-Mulloy, an Equality and Inclusion Manager at the health board and Hate Crime Champion, has led this fantastic work. The toolkit, which has been developed to guide staff who have been victims of a hate crime or hate incident, and for managers who are supporting a staff member who has been a victim, has been co-developed through a working group made up of health board staff from various departments, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Wellbeing Services, and Equality Champions, supported by the Equality Team. The working group also included external representation from the North Wales Police Equality Diversity and Inclusion Team, and Gwen Jones from the Wales Hate Support Centre.
The toolkit will be added to the health board’s internal Health and Safety and Equality pages and hard copies will be distributed to all sites during Hate Crime Awareness Week. This is an example of some of the great work the health board has been doing in recent years in supporting the Hate Crime Charter, which has resulted in the health board being awarded the Wales Hate Support Centre Trustmark for the second year in a row.
The toolkit it an example of how committed the health board is in raising awareness of the harms of Hate in our workspaces and supporting victims of Hate Crime. I hope this will have an ongoing impact on helping navigate support and awareness for BCUHB colleagues and will support the wider culture change work being undertaken across the health board to help ensure our hospitals are free from discrimination and fear. This is just one step we are taking to wrap support around colleagues, patients and visitors who are victims of discrimination.

Trends & Themes
Hate crime statistics are important, but they only tell part of the story. Behind every report is a person, a workplace, a school, a neighbourhood or an online space where someone has experienced hostility because of who they are. At the Wales Hate Support Centre we also see emerging trends and patterns including the experiences of children and young people, hate-motivated anti-social behaviour, and hate in the work place. By looking beyond the numbers, we can better understand where hate happens, hwo it affects people’s lives, and what we can all do to create safer and more inclusive communities across Wales. In the next section you’ll read more about the insight on young people’s experiences in Wales. Pan fyddwn ni'n meddwl am droseddau casineb, yn aml byddwn yn dychmygu oedolion yn wynebu cam-drin ac ymosodiadau corfforol mewn mannau cyhoeddus, gweithleoedd neu ar-lein. Growing Up Under Hate The Hidden Impact of Hate Crime on Young People in Wales
When we think about hate crime, we often picture adults facing abuse and physical attacks in public spaces, workplaces or online. Yet across Wales, children and young people are experiencing hate crime and hate incidents at a crucial stage in their development, when they are still discovering who they are, where they belong, and how they fit into the world. For a young person, hate crime is rarely "just words". It can fundamentally shape how safe they feel, how they see themselves, and how they engage with their communities.
More than a single incident A hateful comment shouted in a school corridor. Racist abuse on a bus. AntiLGBTQ+ messages shared in a group chat. Disability-related bullying online.
These incidents may seem fleeting to those who witness them. But for the young person targeted, the impact can last far longer. Young people can also experience hate crimes linked to physical assault, theft, property damage and hate related bullying. Unlike many other crimes, hate crime attacks a person's identity. It targets something fundamental about who they are, or who they are perceived to be. When someone is targeted because of their race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity, the message they receive is that they do not belong. For young people who are still forming their sense of self, that message can be particularly damaging.
Tueddiadau a Themâu Yr Effaith ar Hyder a Lles Mae pobl ifanc sy'n profi trosedd casineb yn aml yn disgrifio teimlo'n orbryderus, yn ynysig, yn flin neu'n ofnus. Bydd eraill yn dod yn anfodlon defnyddio trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus, mynychu gweithgareddau ysgol, neu gymryd rhan mewn digwyddiadau cymunedol. Mae'r effeithiau'n aml yn ymestyn y tu hwnt i'r digwyddiad ei hun. Mae'n bosib y bydd person ifanc yn cael trafferth canolbwyntio yn yr ysgol, yn profi hunanhyder isel, yn tynnu'n ôl o'u ffrindiau, neu'n colli hyder mewn mynegi eu hunaniaeth. HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026
The Impact on Confidence and Wellbeing Young people who experience hate crime often describe feeling anxious, isolated, angry or fearful. Some begin to avoid places where they previously felt comfortable. Others become reluctant to use public transport, attend school activities, or participate in community events. The effects frequently extend beyond the incident itself. A young person may struggle to concentrate in school, experience lower self-esteem, withdraw from friends, or lose confidence in expressing their identity. For some, the trauma can contribute to longer-term mental health challenges. What begins as a single incident can gradually reduce a young person's world, limiting where they go, who they trust, and how they see their future. Confidence cannot simply be “fixed”; it is something that takes time to develop and rebuild. For some individuals, their confidence may be significantly affected by difficult experiences and may take considerable time to recover. Appropriate support can help a child rebuild their confidence, which can have a positive impact on their overall emotional wellbeing.
Trends & Themes
School-aged child experienced racial abuse on her school bus, other children laughed. She felt too uncomfortable to travel on the bus. In addition, chewing gum was deliberately placed on her coat. She said it left her feeling ‘dirty’, even after it was cleaned and it was a valued gift, she felt unable to wear it again. The racial abuse continued through text messages and group chats, groups were created that she was added to where the abuse continued. Hate related targeting can continue beyond a single incident or location. The incident started on the bus, but the harassment continued through digital communication making it difficult for her to feel that she could escape the situation. The ongoing nature of the abuse had the potential to affect her emotional wellbeing, sense of safety and confidence both in and outside of school.

Trends & Themes
A child of a refugee family had been targeted at a local park after school. The Caseworker had spoken to the child’s parents and identified some of their interests. The Caseworker brought related items of interest to their first meeting, to help to establish connection and create a relaxed and welcoming environment. The Wellbeing Coordinator at the child’s school provided a safe and comfortable space for the sessions to take place. The initial sessions focused on getting to know the child and developing a positive therapeutic relationship. Over the following weeks, the case worker continued to work with the child using a range of activities, including story dice. These activities provided the child with opportunities to express themselves, engage in conversation and gradually develop their confidence in a safe and supportive environment. After several weeks of support, the child’s mother reported a significant improvement in his mood. Consistent, child-centred support can contribute to improvements in a child’s confidence, emotional wellbeing and engagement with education.
When hate happens in places that should be safe One of the most difficult aspects of hate crime experienced by young people is that it often occurs in environments where they should feel safe.
Schools, colleges, online spaces, sports clubs and local communities should be places where young people can learn, grow and thrive. When hate occurs in these environments, it can undermine a young person's sense of security and belonging.
Tueddiadau a Themâu I rai pobl ifanc, yn enwedig y rhai sydd â hunaniaethau croestoriadol, gall y profiad fod hyd yn oed yn fwy cymhleth. Gallai person ifanc wynebu hiliaeth a homoffobia ar yr un pryd, neu gam-drin sy'n gysylltiedig ag anabledd ochr yn ochr â chasineb crefyddol. Gall y profiadau hyn adael dioddefwyr yn teimlo nad oes lle maen nhw wir yn ffitio i mewn.
WYTHNOS GENEDLAETHOL YMWYBYDDIAET TROSEDDAU CASINEB 2026 Weithiau gall pobl ifanc ddioddef trawma eilaidd, pan fydd aelod o'r teulu yn cael eu targedu gan droseddau casineb. Gall y sefyllfa gael ei gwaethygu pan ddisgwylir i'r person ifanc weithredu fel cyfieithydd ar y pryd, os nad yw Saesneg y rhiant yn ddigon da i siarad â'r heddlu neu asiantaethau eraill.
Cafodd rhiant eu targedu, a gwelodd eu plentyn y digwyddiad. Gofynnwyd i'r person ifanc gyfieithu ar gyfer asiantaethau, a gofynnwyd cwestiynau nad oeddent yn addas ar gyfer eu hoedran, gan achosi iddynt deimlo ofn. Chwiliodd yr unigolyn ifanc yn obsesiynol ar Google am wybodaeth ynglŷn â chaethwasiaeth a hil, a chafodd gymorth i ymdopi â theimladau anodd
Mae gan berson ifanc broblemau iechyd ac mae hefyd yn Awtistig. Mae hi'n cael trafferth gyda chyfathrebu; mae hi'n gweld gwrthdaro yn llethol, a gall hyn arwain at ymatebion anreoledig sy'n ymddangos fel ‘chwalfeydd emosiynol’. Un noson, gwaeddodd cymydog arni, gan ddefnyddio geiriau sarhaus a difrïol yn ymwneud ag anabledd Mae'r person ifanc yn profi unigedd ac yn gwrthod gadael y tŷ os yw'r cymdogion y tu allan. Mae Mam yn credu bod ofn arni – “Dydy hi ddim eisiau mynd allan. Mae'n ofnadwy ei weld, gan mai dim ond plentyn ydy hi. Dydy hi ddim yn deg.”
HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026
For some young people, especially those with intersecting identities, the experience can be even more complex. A young person might face racism and homophobia at the same time, or disability-related abuse alongside religious hatred. These experiences can leave victims feeling that there is nowhere they truly fit in.
Trends & Themes Young people can at times be the victim of secondary trauma, where a family member is targeted by hate crime. This can be compounded when the young person is expected to act as an interpreter where the parents English isn’t sufficient to talk to the police or other agencies.
A parent was targeted and their child witnessed the incident. The young person was asked to interpret to agencies, and was asked ageinappropriate questions and they became fearful. The young person obsessively googled information about slavery and race, and received support around managing difficult emotions.
A young person has health issues and is also Autistic. She struggles with communication, finding confrontation overwhelming and can result in dysregulated responses that appear as ‘meltdowns’. One evening she was shouted at by a neighbour, using disability insults and slurs. The young person is experiencing isolation and refuses to leave the house if the neighbours are outside. Mum believes it’s because she’s scared “She doesn’t want to go out. It’s horrible to see as she’s just a child. It’s not fair.”
Tueddiadau a Themâu Y Distawrwydd Ynghylch Troseddau Casineb Ieuenctid Nid yw llawer o bobl ifanc byth yn adrodd am yr hyn maen nhw'n ei brofi. Bydd rhai'n poeni na fyddant yn cael eu cymryd o ddifrif. Bydd eraill yn ofni dial, embaras, neu gael eu labeli fel 'gwahanol'. Mae rhai wedi arfer cymaint ag iaith neu ymddygiad gwahaniaethol nad ydynt yn adnabod yr hyn sydd wedi digwydd fel trosedd casineb. I rai pobl ifanc, gall siarad am eu profiadau â ffrind, aelod o'r teulu neu oedolyn dibynadwy deimlo'n gymharol hawdd. Ond i eraill, gall siarad yn agored am ddigwyddiad fod yn llawer anos. Gall teimladau megis embaras, cywilydd, ofn neu awydd i amddiffyn eu teulu atal pobl ifanc rhag adrodd am yr hyn sydd wedi digwydd iddynt neu geisio cymorth. Mae'r distawrwydd hwn yn bwysig. Pan fydd casineb yn mynd heb ei adrodd, gall pobl ifanc deimlo bod yn rhaid iddynt ymdopi â'r effaith ar eu pennau eu hunain. Mae cymunedau'n colli cyfleoedd i ymateb, herio rhagfarn a chefnogi'r rhai yr effeithir arnynt.
Gwrando ar Leisiau Ifanc Mae pobl ifanc yn dweud wrthym ni yn gyson eu bod nhw eisiau oedolion i wrando arnynt, eu credu a gweithredu. Mae creu cymunedau mwy diogel yn dechrau gyda chydnabod bod profiadau pobl ifanc yn ddilys ac yn bwysig. Mae'n golygu herio rhagfarn pan fyddwn yn ei weld, creu amgylcheddau cynhwysol, a sicrhau bod pobl ifanc yn gwybod ble i geisio cymorth.
WYTHNOS GENEDLAETHOL YMWYBYDDIAET TROSEDDAU CASINEB 2026 Roedd bachgen 15 oed, yn ei flwyddyn olaf o astudio ar gyfer ei arholiadau TGAU, yng nghanol tref brysur gyda ffrindiau. Wrth groesi'r ffordd, cawsant eu taro bron gan gerbyd oedd yn dod tuag atynt. Yna, gostyngodd y gyrrwr ei ffenestr a gweiddi geiriau hiliol ar y person ifanc. Gwaethygodd y sefyllfa; stopiodd y gyrrwr ei gerbyd, aeth ato a'i afael wrth ei wddf, gan wneud bygythiadau. Teimlai'r person ifanc embaras ynghylch yr hyn a ddigwyddodd; ni ddywedodd wrth ei rieni ar unwaith oherwydd ei fod yn teimlo y dylai ymdrin â'r mater ei hun. Yn y pen draw, siaradodd ag oedolyn yr oedd yn ymddiried ynddo yn yr ysgol, ac arweiniodd hynny at atgyfeiriad i Ganolfan Cymorth Casineb Cymru. Darparodd y Gweithiwr Achos gefnogaeth emosiynol barhaus, eiriolaeth gyda'r heddlu, a chymorth i ddatgelu'r wybodaeth i'w deulu. “Drwy gael gweithiwr achos, gallwn ailadeiladu fy hyder a theimlo fy mod yn cael mwy o gefnogaeth.” Canfu fod defnyddio larwm personol yn ei helpu i deimlo'n fwy diogel ac yn fwy tawel ei feddwl.
HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026
The silence around Youth Hate Crime Some worry they won't be taken seriously. Others fear retaliation, embarrassment, or being labelled as different. Some have become so accustomed to discriminatory language or behaviour that they do not recognise what has happened as a hate crime. For some young people, talking to a friend, family member or trusted adult about their experiences may feel relatively easy. However, for others, speaking openly about an incident can be much more difficult. Feelings such as embarrassment, shame, fear or a desire to protect their family can prevent young people from reporting what has happened to them or seeking support. This silence matters. When hate goes unreported, young people can feel they must manage the impact alone. Communities miss opportunities to respond, challenge prejudice and support those affected.
Listening to Young Voices Young people consistently tell us that they want adults to listen, believe them and take action. Creating safer communities starts with recognising that young people's experiences are valid and important. It means challenging prejudice when we see it, creating inclusive environments, and ensuring young people know where to seek support.
Trends & Themes
A 15-year old boy in his final year of studying his GCSEs was in a busy town centre with friends. Whilst crossing the road, they were nearly hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver then lowered his window and shouted racial abuse at the teenager. The situation escalated, the driver stopped his vehicle, approached and grabbed him by the neck, making threats. The young person felt embarrassed about what happened, he did not immediately tell his parents because he felt that he should deal with it himself. He eventually spoke to a trusted adult at school, which led to a referral to the Wales Hate Support Centre. The Caseworker provided ongoing emotional support, and advocacy with the police and support to disclose to his family. “Having a caseworker I could rebuild my confidence and feel more supported”. He found the use of a personal alarm helped him to feel safer and reassured.”

HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026 Teachers, youth workers, parents, community leaders and employers all have a role to play.
Trends & Themes Sometimes the most powerful response is simply showing a young person that they are not alone.
A young person received extensive racial abuse outside of the school yard whilst in school, they were recognised as a youth 8 years their senior. He became isolated and didn’t want to leave his room, he didn’t think anyone would take it seriously. With the help of appropriate support, the police progressed the case and had enough evidence to proceed to court. They were found guilty and received a custodial sentence and a fine. “I’m honestly over the moon, I wasn’t expecting that at all.”
Building a Wales where every young person belongs. Every young person deserves to feel safe, respected and valued for who they are. When hate crime affects a young person, the consequences can reach far beyond the immediate incident. It can shape confidence, wellbeing, educational experiences and aspirations for the future. But with the right support, understanding and action, we can help young people
recover, rebuild their confidence and continue to thrive. During Hate Crime Awareness Week, let us remember that behind every report is a person. For young victims, our response today can influence how safe, confident and connected they feel tomorrow. Because no young person should grow up believing that hate is simply something they have to live with.

Partneriaethau Cymorth i Ddioddefwyr, Heddlu Gogledd Cymru, a BIPBC: Sioe Deithiol Wythnos Ymwybyddiaeth Troseddau Casineb Am y drydedd flwyddyn yn olynol, mae Canolfan Cymorth Casineb Cymru wedi partneru â Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr a Heddlu Gogledd Cymru ar sioe deithiol ar draws y tri phrif ysbyty yng Ngogledd Cymru: Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Ysbyty Gwynedd ac Ysbyty Maelor Wrecsam. Nod y sioe deithiol yw codi ymwybyddiaeth o droseddau casineb, llwybrau adrodd a'r gefnogaeth sydd ar gael i ddioddefwyr a thystion. Rydyn ni'n gwybod o'n gwasanaeth fod casineb yn digwydd yn y gweithle, felly mae'r sioe deithiol hon yn gyfle gwych i ymgysylltu â staff a chleifion. . TEleni rydym hefyd yn dosbarthu pecynnau ar draws safleoedd llai'r byrddau iechyd a fydd yn cynnwys Copi o Becyn Cymorth Troseddau Casineb newydd y bwrdd iechyd; Posteri a thaflenni o Ganolfan Cymorth Casineb Cymru; Gwybodaeth am blatfform ar-lein Cymorth i Ddioddefwyr, My Support Space - gofod cyfrinachol, diogel ac am ddim sy'n cynnwys canllawiau rhyngweithiol, gwybodaeth ac awgrymiadau defnyddiol i helpu pobl i symud ymlaen o drosedd.
Rwy’n meddwl bod y sioeau teithiol yn ffordd wych o gysylltu â staff a chleifion a rhoi gwybod i bobl nad ydyn nhw ar eu pennau eu hunain, nad oes rhaid iddyn nhw ‘oddef’ casineb a rhagfarn, bod cymorth ar gael iddyn nhw ac y gallant ac y dylent adrodd am hynny i’r Heddlu neu i Gymorth i Ddioddefwyr. HATE CRIME AWARENESS WEEK 2026
Events
Victim Support, North Wales Police, and BCUHB partnerships: Hate Crime Awareness Week Roadshow For the third year in a row, the Wales Hate Support Centre have partnered with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and North Wales Police on a roadshow across the three main hospitals in North Wales: Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Ysbyty Gwynedd, and Ysbyty Maelor Wrexham. The roadshow aims to raise awareness of hate crime, reporting pathways, and available support for victims and witnesses. We know from our service that hate happens in the workplace, so this roadshow provides a great opportunity to engage with both staff and patients. This year we are also distributing packs across the smaller health board sites which will include A copy of the health board’s new Hate Crime Toolkit; Posters and leaflets from the Wales Hate Support Centre; Information about Victim Support’s online platform, My Support Space a free, confidential and secure space containing interactive guides, information and helpful tips to help people move forward from crime.
I think the roadshows are a great way to connect with staff and patients and let people know that they are not alone, that they don’t have to just “put up” with hate and prejudice, that there is support out there, and that they can and should report it to the Police or Victim Support.
