Price Increases

Members, over the coming weeks you may notice that we have increased the price of some items due to CPI increases from our major suppliers.

We try to absorb minor price fluctuations however, we can’t always achieve this.

Needless to say we will still offer the best prices in town and remember the more that you use your member’s card the greater your opportunity to earn points and further discounts.

Hastings Club Rewards

There’s been some confusion relating to the Club’s Rewards program.

To clarify: Points used to determine your tier are earned by the purchases you make. Complimentary Entry Kiosk points are available for redemption but do not contribute to your tiering level.

Simply put, you earn loyalty points for what you spend at the Club. Only loyalty points determine your tiering.

If you have questions, please see our staff.

In order to allow for potential injuries and player commitments throughout the season, Hastings FNC would like to recruit another 10 players to their women’s teams. EgR's Essential Gossip #109

“Fizzer” that’s how locals were describing cyclone Oma last week , an absolute fizzer? Ant thought the discussion was about The Hastings Festival. Certainly Saturday night at the Club was in the same category. A fizzer that is, neither a cricket auction nor happy punters patronised the Club.

Cricket Club versus Carrum, are chasing a well compiled all day score of 209. Remember Hastings needs to win final remaining two games to feature in the finals.

Erg noticed the “wee” bottles featured as a bargain at $7 each, less for members using their cards. A bargain in every respect especially if you like the bubbles in your champagne hanging around until the drink is consumed.

In the meantime The Ant ever critical of any decision, noticed a price rise with all the expected justifications. Beginning with “The cost of.....” etc. We’ve all heard the reasons why things go up. Never down notice. However Sonny of Somerville has a couple of suggestions that may just excite some members.

Did you know? Every time you use your member’s card at the club points are added to the bottom line. Sonny didn’t use his points and finally they disappeared into the ether! Or wherever it is good points go? Suggestion one: couldn’t the points taken from me (Sonny) or whoever? Couldn’t those points been given to the sporting clubs?

Suggestion two concerns the best prices in town, member benefits, and a Club for members. Sonny says, “members should enjoy benefits! But the reality is: members are members at Hastings to support the Sporting Clubs. The theme ever lurking is; what can we members do to support our footy, netball, darts and cricket clubs?

Irritable patron cynically declares we have submarines swinging, overpriced Kebabs, and carnival rides priced to compete with Disneyland. An excited Alwyn from Old Tyabb wondered what was new?

A similar sentiment was heard from Manny also from Old Tyabb. “The Hastings Festival needs a fresh approach. Also attractions that appeal, something like a pill testing facility.” A pill testing laboratory? Erg couldn’t quite work that one out. Possibly comes from suggesting a 24 hour music marathon. If only we had a sound shell?

This week’s personality from the D’s.

Those in the know immediately guessed our formidable D personality, Robert Zimmerman who did became a Nobel Prize winner for literature in 2016. Bob Dylan.

Erg and The Ant still marvel at the story of Ruben Carter and the accompanying conspiracy theories. However Bob Dylan is more than just a one trick pony. Poet, Dylan Thomas, influenced Bob’s early style with such classics as “Blowin in the Wind,” and “the Times, They Are A- Changing.” Bob became a cult figure for civil rights groups, In 1965 he fled from acoustics to electronic wizardry incidentally coinciding with more mature lyrics which delivered more meaningful messages to devoted followers. For Dylan “Blood on The Tracks” and “Desire” reflected a higher intelligence and an original free-thinker .

Eventually it was determined Bob had got the Ruben Carter message a little twisted but he steadfastly maintained “pistol shots did ring out in a bar room fight.” Next week the E’s and the Edward Dynasty (i to viii) Not on says the Ant. Next week Albert Einstein and some things you might not know.

Speaking of which, and at The Club, roof and canteen? Work in progress. Goal Posts? Not part of the visible spectrum! Flags? Do we need them?

Shane valued employee at the Club when asked about any gossip, wanted to have the last word: “I don’t do gossip! But it is a melancholy truth that even great employees have bad days.” Thanks Shane.

For the rest of us; “rumours travel faster than the truth,” another excellent reason for slowing down.

Until next week make good health the number one consideration.
