WELCOME
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO KICK THE AUTUMN SEASON OFF, SEPTEMBER SEES FOUR EXHILARATING DRAMAS BROUGHT TO LIFE ACROSS FOUR WEEKS IN OUR 2026 DRAMA SEASON, SPONSORED BY VET DENTIST. Brighton ‘84 from the brilliant and multiaward-winning Philip Stokes makes a stirring start to the season. Set on a hugely significant night in British history, the play looks at how a tragedy changed the individuals caught up in it and the wider political and societal landscape. Frederick Knott’s classic Dial M for Murder is next; made famous by Hitchcock’s 1954 film. This tour de force of psychological tension is brought thrillingly back to the stage for 2026 by Phil & Ben Productions, in association with Eastbourne Productions. The John Godber Company makes a welcome return to Harrogate Theatre with The Highwayman based on the Dick Turpin story. It is a gritty and witty portrayal of Yorkshire and the man who exploited its growing wealth. The final play in our September drama series is an adaptation from the contemporary classic novel Private Peaceful. A moving family drama and a powerful reminder of the human cost of war, written by Michael Morpurgo, the acclaimed author of such tremendous work as War Horse.

October sees the return of our Comedy Festival. Paul Merton, Suki Webster, Laura Smyth, Maisie Adam and Seann Walsh are amongst many acts who have been hand selected to provide a mixture of household names and exciting emerging comics. This year’s magical family pantomime is Sleeping Beauty. We have some familiar favourites returning to the cast as well as some new faces, and tickets are selling very well as usual. Book early to get the best seats for you. Do have a look at some of the spectacular shows at the Royal Hall and Harrogate Convention Centre; there’s a range of music for everyone as well as celebrity speakers and ‘evenings with’. Our cream tea and gin tours are back, providing an informative and fun way to get to know our beautiful theatre. We also have an exclusive behind the scenes pantomime tour in December.
