Bold as Brass

If you’ve ever blown away a few bad guys in Starship Troopers or gone on an adventure with Headhunter you’ll be familiar with the action-pumped soundtracks of SEGA games composer Richard Jacques. The classically-trained composer for games, film and TV will be leading a troupe of brass bands throughout the festival, with a specially commissioned fanfare to launch festivities. A brass ensemble will then play at the same time, every evening from the rooftop of the Royal Hall as a call to arms to Harrogate to join in the Festival spirit. Get ready to be blown away by brass as it bounces off the rooftops of Harrogate!

Date: July 17 &18 Time: From 3pm Location: Crescent Gardens

New Music New Venues

As John Lennon once said to a crowd – those in the cheap seats clap, the rest of you “just rattle your jewellery”. As well as the Fringe breaking down barriers, the Summer Festival is taking music away from the civilised seats of the theatre into a very big tent in a field (in Crescent Gardens). So feel free to clap, rattle and roll away the weekend of the 17 and 18 July, when laid back acoustic world music will be in the air. Artists will be playing into the evening for an authentic festival experience. Keep an eye on the website for more details. www.harrogate-festival.org.uk
