Safe & Secure
For enhanced security and peace of mind, all VEKA systems meet PAS24 and the Secured by Design (SBD) standard.
PAS 24 is a standard of testing to measure the security performance of windows and doors to ensure they can resist a level of attack from an opportunist burglar. Secured by Design (SBD) is an initiative that organises accreditation for products on behalf of the Police. To be awarded an SBD Standard, the product must meet requirements to prevent crime to a ‘Police Preferred Specification’.

Making Your Home More Energy Efficient
The windows and doors in your property are just one part of the puzzle when it comes to achieving an energy efficient home.
The energy performance of a window or door is influenced by a wide range of factors, so it’s not easy to gauge by just looking at how it’s made. Fortunately, there’s a rating scheme to help you find the best one.
The energy efficiency of each window or door is categorised using an energy-rating scale from A++ to E. The complete product (frame and glass) is assessed to allow for heat loss, draughts and solar gain, giving a rating that indicates the overall impact of installing the product in your home.
U-Values
You may see a U-Value quoted on a product’s energy label or promotional materials. This is a measure of how easily heat passes through the product and contributes to how efficient the product is. But this is not the complete measure of efficiency, and you need to take the overall energy label rating when considering the product’s energy saving potential.
Sustainability
Not all plastic is bad. When it comes to windows and doors, uPVC is the most energy efficient amongst its peers. Plastic is an insulator unlike wood which is porous, whilst aluminium can cause thermal bridging and increased condensation. The window and door industry has made huge strides in the recycling and reuse of uPVC; it has given old frames a value, so they avoid simply being scrapped in the nearest skip.
A typical uPVC window frame lasts around 35 years, and it can then be recycled up to ten times, giving it a true lifespan of 350 years.* After that, it can then be made into other things that don’t require such high quality uPVC. Imagine what your window could be one day.
