Harper is a full-service general contracting and construction management firm headquartered in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. An award-winning company, Harper consistently receives recognition in the areas of quality, safety, environmental stewardship, and community involvement. David began his career at Harper in 1990 and currently serves as Harper’s President & CEO. His work as President & CEO is focused on building up our clients and teammates with an investment of time, detail, passion for leadership development, and integrity. As President & CEO, he feels a profound sense of responsibility to provide for the health and overall well-being of his Harper teammates. His objective is to always have a culture where Harper people and their ideas can flourish so they enjoy a sense of dignity and satisfaction as they perform their work, and flourish at home with their families and in our community.

Hootie is Vice President of Preconstruction Services and brings more than 16 years of experience as a construction professional. His career began at Harper after graduating from Clemson University in 2006 with a BS in Construction Science. From Assistant Project Manager to Spartanburg Office Director to now Vice President and Shareholder, Hootie is invested in Harper. He has extensive experience in the healthcare, sports, commercial, and education market sectors, and is actively involved in the community, serving on multiple non-profit boards. Hootie looks to carry on the legacy of his grandfather who built his career and reputation in the construction industry in Spartanburg.

Andy has more than 20 years of experience with preconstruction and project management. As Preconstruction Director for Harper, Andy works closely with each project team during the design and preconstruction phase to assist in completing a design that meets the owner requirements for cost, quality, and function. Andy is most adept at developing cost-effective strategies during the preconstruction process, resulting in a very competitive Guaranteed Maximum Price that promotes the highest value for clients. His experience in project management further enhances his ability to understand the intended goal of each project scope.

As Senior Business Development Manager for Harper, Peyton brings over 26 years of comprehensive experience in the construction industry. Priority is placed on earning client trust and ensuring that Harper clients obtain a rewarding construction experience.

Matthew has a natural ability to form connections with his peers, an eagerness to engage within the marketplace, and a keen eye for business procurement.

RENFROW INDUSTRIAL OFFICE BUILDING

Harper was selected as the design-build partner for the new office headquarters facility for Renfrow Industrial. The project scope included the site development, stormwater management, and utilities required to support the infrastructure. The new building encompass 20,000+ SF of office space, fully upfitted with full MEP, metal framing, ceilings, and high end finishes. The owner opted for a tilt-up office building with cast-in-place concrete panels.

This new office marks the first building on Renfrow’s new campus park, aimed to consolidate multiple facility locations into a centralized campus.

SPARTAN FIRE

SPARTANBURG, SC | DESIGN-BUILD

Harper was selected to perform design-build services for the new Spartan Fire and Apparatus headquarters. Spartan Fire and Apparatus are full-line builders and retailers of custom fire apparatus, including ladders, tankers, and pumpers.

The pre-engineered facility is approximately 40,000 SF and includes wash bays, service bays, a break room, restrooms, offices, a locker room, storage space, a conference room, warehouse storage, and a covered patio.

ACL AIRSHOP

GREENVILLE, SC | DESIGN-BUILD

Harper was selected to serve as the Design-Build contractor in constructing a new 60,000 SF manufacturing facility for ACL Airshop in Greenville, SC. Located in Park West Commerce Park, the facility features high bay manufacturing spaces for air cargo bets, transportation straps, and other products. Amenities for employees include indoor and outdoor gathering spaces and a fitness center.

ACL Airshop is a leading worldwide provider of ULD, cargo control, and air freight products and services for the aviation industry. The built-to-suit manufacturing space allows for increased productivity for the global leader and offers more jobs for the Upstate community.

SOFTBOX SYSTEMS

GREENVILLE, SC | DESIGN-BUILD

Harper provided design and construction services for the new Softbox Systems headquarters facility, where they produce awardwinning temperature control packaging. To support the innovator’s growth, the new two-story facility accommodates Class-A corporate offices, a testing lab, and manufacturing and shipping bays. The 66,000 SF industrial building consists of load-bearing concrete tilt-up wall panels with structural steel framing and a single-ply roof system.

SEW EURODRIVE CAMPUS

SPARTANBURG, SC | DESIGN-BUILD

Since 2012, Harper has been working with SEW Eurodrive to develop their Spartanburg campus. The initial project consisted of sitework and a new 156,000 SF facility for the assembly of heavy industrial gear drives. The structural steel frame was designed to accommodate 30 top running cranes from 5 to 25 tons. The exterior skin consists of precast wall panels and a single ply TPO roof system. The space is climate controlled with rooftop units, an ESFR sprinkler system, and state-of-the-art racking system. Harper also provided construction of a new 38,000 SF two-story office building that consists of a structural steel frame with a glass and precast exterior. The roof is a single ply TPO and features a rooftop garden.

The ‘Maxolution’ building is distinguished by the aluminum screen at the entrance, whereas the assembly building features red and wood accents, the linear formliner, and red sun sails. The buildings are each recognizable, so employees can identify with them and develop a place of belonging. At the same time, because both buildings are constructed of precast concrete panels, they are aesthetically connected to each other and to the other precast concrete structures on the corporate campus.

Our most recent project, and a testament to our continued positive relationship with SEW Eurodrive, is the second phase of the assembly building and accompanying ‘Maxolution’ office facility. The assembly building boasts load bearing precast wall panels with a structural steel frame. This new construction added 272,500 SF of assembly and office space to the campus. The four buildings we have worked on have run smoothly and we share a great continued relationship with SEW Eurodrive.
