CARPENTRY Carpenters are involved in many types of construction projects, so students who enjoy hands-on learning and have the desire to build will gain job specific training for entry-level employment. Working on several projects throughout the year, students build frameworks and structures made from wood and other materials and bring their projects to life. Studying principles of construction, students can also prepare for a postsecondary degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering.

ELECTRICAL Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communication lines, lighting, and control systems in homes, businesses and factories. Students in this pathway gain the knowledge and skills needed to enter the workforce or prepare for a postsecondary degree in construction or construction management.

Masonry workers use bricks, concrete, wood, and other materials to bring ideas and construction plans to life. Including techniques on job-site safety, students learn blueprint reading, measuring, estimating, sawing, sanding, shaping and joint construction throughout the sequence of courses. The masonry pathway provides students the opportunity to gain employable skills directly after high school, or use what they have learned towards a postsecondary degree.

WELDING There are opportunities waiting for welders across the country in a variety of industries and settings. Employment can be wide ranging, including working in manufacturing shops, maintenance shops, steel operations, ship building yards or oil fields.

The welding pathway provides in-depth training and specific knowledge and skills required for employment in metal technology systems. Students will reinforce and apply what they learn in a variety of settings including classroom projects and internships with local business partners.

COLLISION-REPAIR SERVICES From repairing damaged caused by vehicle collisions to making cars look and drive like new, students in the Collision-Repair services track gain skillsets that can be taken directly to the job site.

Automotive body and glass repairers restore, refinish, and replace vehicle bodies and frames, windshields, and window glass.

Whether damages consist of fixing a cracked windshield or replacing an entire car door, students in the program work directly on vehicles throughout their program experience.

Automotive service technicians and mechanics inspect, maintain, and repair cars and light trucks. Working on traditional mechanical components, such as engines, transmissions, and drive belts, automotive service technicians must also be familiar with a growing number of electronic systems.

Rapid advances in diesel technology have created new careers and new demands in transportation, and employers in this industry are seeking applicants who are trained and certified.

REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT Dental assistants are tasked with a wide range of responsibilities including preparing patients for procedures, exposing radiographs, taking impressions, and pouring molds. Classroom equipment is identical to what is found in dental offices. Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care provided by these workers.

EMTs and paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities.

Digital Communications

AUDIO/VIDEO (A/V) PRODUCTION Through access to the Media Arts and Communications Academy, students become actively involved with local media production and broadcast companies. Production projects during the year include: radio/TV commercials, a replica scene from a movie, music videos, and autobiographies, and creating a 30 second television commercial for a local business owner/company. By the end of their practicum experience, students will compile a professional reel of their work and take their Adobe Premiere licensing exam.
