Environmental Autobiography (Module #3.2)
• Take some time to think about an outdoor place that left a strong impression, or memory for you.
• What place do you remember most, and why?
• Is there a place outdoors where you tend to go when you need a connection to nature, or to feel connected to community?
• Are there outdoor spaces you have been to that you yearn or desire to be a part of your daily life?
• Is there an experience you had outdoors that has had a significant impact on your life?
• It could be a hike in the Sierras you took with your family a few years ago.
• It could be the experience of walking through an outdoor farmer's market or main street in a small town.
• It could be one particular day last spring as you were walking along the Embarcadero or a trail in the mountains.
• It could be the garden where you grew up, or a playground you visited as a child.
• Once you have selected a space, consider the following questions as you write your personal story of place:
1. How did these outdoor spaces make you feel?

2. Why do you think you remember them?
3. What are the details of the place (e.g., views, light quality, colors, smells, sounds, textures, surfaces)?
4. How can you give the reader a sense of what these spaces were like?
5. Have they influenced your choice of study?
6. Why are places like these important?
