BI NKA BI

The concept for NEXT’s law firm revolves around the Ghanian principle and symbol of “Bi Nka Bi”, meaning “someone should not bite someone”. It is a symbol of peace, and unity, forming the shape representing two animals biting each other.
This was selected to promote peace in a field that revolves around conflict. Organic inspiration from the Bi Nka Bi symbol will be visually balanced with structured geometry commonly seen in Ghanian kente cloths.

RECEPTION

Employees may gather in the Work Cafe to converse with others over coffee or to simply have a change of workplace scenery. This space features various seating options paired with integrated outlets for charging devices. For non-coffee drinkers, a sparkling water bar is available in this space as well as a microwave, dishwasher, sink, and fridge for those preparing lunch during the day.

The main function of the Reception is to invite those who enter. Current and potential clients will be greeted and assisted according to their needs, reflecting the harmoneous philosophy of Bi Nka Bi.

MULTI-PURPOSE/TOWN HALL

The Town Hall provides flexible space for firm-wide events and gatherings. Meanwhile, this area can be considered an addition to the Work Cafe, giving employees even more space to diversify their work environment and socialize with colleagues.

These are the two distinct layouts of the Town Hall space. Each can be adjusted to the users’ daily needs and both can be expanded on at any time by retrieving extra seats from the storage room or borrowing some from the Work Cafe.

LIVING & KITCHEN

As a lid returns to its bottle, so a person must eventually retreat. Away from public life, the primary suite is complete with a sophisticated full bathroom, walk-in closet, and an adjacent home office. With visually deeper material selections, the private spaces are curated to foster relaxation and focus.

INVITING COMMUNITY
What good is wine with no one to share it with?
The same can be said of a home. The kitchen and living room are spacious and modest with direct access to the dining room, butler pantry, and wine cellar. Whether hosting an intimate or moderate gathering, this layout promotes connection and comfort.

Oasis Home 04.

This serene escape is designed to maximize mental and physcial wellbeing while leaning on the principles of universal design and accessibility.
Location: Rockwall, Texas
STACKED CAIRN

The concept of this home’s design centers around a stacked cairn. A cairn in a mound of stones typically meant to mark a memorial or landmark. Building one has come to represent balance, stability, and endurance.
Like the focused serenity required to create a single-stacked cairn, this home promotes peace and wellness. It’s design references nautral landscapes in which cairns may be built and found. Additionally, this home is entirely wheelchair accessible.

PRIMARY BATHROOM
This home’s design has a heavy natural influence. Cairns may be built in various environments, and the private areas of this home reflect those alternate atmospheres in their material selections. The airy blues of the living room and kitchen are contrasted with tones of brown and green, fitting for unwinding and restoration.
