MISSION STATEMENT
BE KIND. BE HONEST. BE RESPECTFUL. BE OPEN. BE DEPENDABLE. BE A LEARNER. BE MY BEST. HARDING ACADEMY COMMUNITY CODE

DEAR HARDING ACADEMY COMMUNITY,

I am humbled to present the 20212022 Impact Report, which gives a glimpse into the incredible generosity of the Harding Academy community.

Through the Harding Fund, which once again exceeded all previous years with 95% parent participation, to the truly record breaking Harding Art Show selling over $1 million in artwork, our community showed up and showed out in a multitude of ways.

As we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of our school, I often found myself reflecting on all that led up to where we are now and where we are going in the future. We stand on the shoulders of those who poured their hearts and souls into building this educational community through passion, dedication, commitment and sometimes just an undying belief in

our mission: to educate and inspire young people to become thoughtful, creative, lifelong learners and selfdisciplined, responsible, caring citizens.

From this foundation of strength, we now look to the next 50 years with a firm conviction of who we are as a learning community, and an eagerness to build upon that tradition of excellence through innovative methods and state of the art facilities.

To all of our donors who continue to support Harding Academy, I offer my heartfelt gratitude.

5
6 Under the extraordinary leadership of Overall Harding Fund Chairs, Ansley '92 and Christopher Wells, along with their dedicated team of class chairs, we hit a record breaking 95% parent participation in the Harding Fund for the 2021-2022 fiscal year! This level of participation is a testament to the belief our families have in the mission of Harding Academy and our commitment to fulfilling on that mission year after year. FULLY ENGAGED. CELEBRATING 50 YEARS

Harding Academy’s 50th Anniversary Celebration was one for the books. Over 600 members of the Harding Academy community gathered at Nissan Stadium for this multi-generational event to celebrate this exciting milestone. Entertainment was provided by award-winning singer-songwriters Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, and Josh Osborne, joined by Karen Fairchild and followed by a rousing performance from Ronnie Dunn and company. The night was capped off by a live auction with fantastic lots including Super Bowl tickets, several rare whiskeys and a Las Vegas getaway with tickets to see Keith Urban. A very special thanks to our Party Chairs, Amanda Hardin and Louise Alexander, our Songwriters Chairs, Coady Rapp and Elisa Vazzana, and our Auction Chairs, Rachel Pritchett, Hayden Fulmer, and Jocelyn Chambers.

In an exciting celebration of truly incredible talents, The Harding Art Show returned to campus in May 2022 for a record breaking in-person and online show. CoChairs, Shaila Bannock and Allison Freeman '96, along with their team of volunteers, created a show of carefully cultivated artists from a multitude of mediums who engaged guests from across the country selling over $1 million in art over the 3-day event. The energy on campus was genuinely palpable, reverberating throughout the festivities beginning with an exquisite dinner by Kristen Winston Catering and a tequilla tasting by Best Brands on Thursday night. This continued all the way through the last face being painted on Saturday during Family Day! We are thankful for volunteers and patrons alike for your commitment to Harding and the art community in Nashville. A special thank you to 2022 Featured Artist, Lynn Sanders, for bringing her bold and vivacious works to campus!

The scholarship, based on financial need, is directed toward students in the upper elementary grades.

Harding Academy encourages the enrichment of faculty and staff through continuing education and other activities. This fund was created to provide faculty with summer enrichment opportunities and the ability to pursue an interest or activity that results in personal growth, including travel, special programs or projects, and professional development.

Professional Advancement was established to support professional development of Harding Lower School educators. The Manning Fund has been given in honor of former Head of School, Ian Craig (2006— 2016), for his significant contributions to the Harding community.

The Ed and Hettie Stuart Endowment

The Vrettos Family Endowment

The Dr. Jerry S. Sutton

This fund was established in 1989 in honor of the late Dr. Jerry S. Sutton by his wife, Barbara. Each year it is awarded to a student that has been determined to be in need of financial aid.

In December of 2019, Chris, Catherine (Stuart 1994), Caroline (2024), and Cathleen (2028) Vrettos established the Vrettos Family Endowment to provide funds for assembly enrichment and programs utilizing speakers, performers, and/or special guests for the Harding Academy community to enjoy during the school day.
