BIKING TIPS ON ISLAND The bike lock code is 1891.

Harbor View Hotel provides bike locks and helmets for guests.

Helmets are optional for adults but required for riders 16 years old and under.

SAFETY TIP REMINDERS: Bicyclists should always ride with traffic, never against it.

Riders 16 years old and under are required by law to wear a helmet. We strongly encourage adults to wear one as well.

Bicycles ridden at night (from ½ hour after sunset until ½ hour before sunrise) must have a white front light, a red rear light or reflector, reflectors on both pedals (or the rider's ankles), and side reflectors or reflective clothing.

Many of the Island's scenic roads are narrow with little or no shoulder, particularly UpIsland. Please ride single file when possible, stay to the right, and leave space for vehicles to pass safely.

Riding on sidewalks is permitted except where posted (primarily in downtown areas).

Cyclists always have the right to ride on the road, even when a bike path is available.
