THE SHAREHOLDER Raymond J. Harbert College of Business Dean’s Report 2013-2014

Engaged Scholarship. Thought Leadership. harbert.auburn.edu

FROM THE DESK OF DEAN BILL HARDGRAVE Recently, the university approved the search for an architect to create plans for a Graduate School of Business building that will hopefully come to fruition in the near future.

The past year has been equally unforgettable and pivotal for our college. The highlights were obvious – an Auburn University-record $40 million gift and a new name, the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business.

None of these changes would be possible without your support. We continue to take significant steps toward our vision of becoming one of the nation`s elite public colleges of business because of your willingness to invest your time, talent, and treasure. As the name of this report implies, you are all shareholders in our success.

As you will see from the pages of The Shareholder – formerly the identity of our alumni magazine and now the name of our new annual report – we have had a lot of wonderful news in a short time.

Thank you and War Eagle!

In the last year, we have created a new Business Analytics program as well as a Ph.D. program in Finance. We are in the process of searching for “franchise player” faculty members to fill new endowed chair positions. We have enhanced the student experience by upgrading classroom technology and expanding our portfolio of scholarship opportunities. Recently, we began interior renovations that will transform our small Lowder Lounge into a 3,000-square foot Starbucks. Soon, the ground floor and first floor common areas of Lowder Hall will receive new flooring, wall coverings, and seating that will create more inviting spaces for students and special guests.

Bill C. Hardgrave, Ph.D. Dean and Wells Fargo Professor Raymond J. Harbert College of Business
