How many took the survey? Assumption U. Students: 175 Everyone else: 1961 Australians: 38 Canadians: 44 Chinese: 22 Romanian: 38 United Kingdom: 86 United States: 1063 Rest from nations with 3 or less Or no nation chosen

Worse than others

Better than others

Overall Assumption Students are 9.3 points out of 100 better off than everybody else who took that Happiness Index between March 1 and April 15.

While scores are lower in government they are higher in psychological well-being and satisfaction with life – which is really good.

Except that‌

Since Covid-19 scores are going down for everybody else in satisfaction with life and psychological well-being by about 2 points.

This is important because “happiness is the meaning and purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence” - Aristotle

And happy people are healthier and more resilient.* *Frey, B. (2011). Happy People Live Longer. Science, 311, 1017; Pettite, J. et al. (2001). Are Happy People Healthier? Journal of Research in Personality, 35, 4: 521-536; Cohn, M. et al. (2009). Happiness unpacked: Positive emotions increase life satisfaction by building resilience. Emotion, 9(3), 361–368

What can you do?

Imagine the world you want to live in.

Be kind to others.

Be kind to yourself.

About the data: The Happiness Index is a scientifically valid measure of happiness and well-being. The data in this report is from a convenience sampling. It represents the happiness and well-being of the people who took the Happiness Index but not necessarily that of the entire population of Assumption University. More data needs to be gathered for that!
