Music Poster
50
/ Music Poster One of the graphic designer’s primary challenges is how to persuade an audience: how to create a message that causes someone to change her or his attitude, engage in self-reflection, or take action, using a combination of factual information, aesthetic and emotional appeal. Hence I designed a set of three posters for Kehlani for a physical environment printed at size of 18' x 24'.
The first poster is built on organic elements such as bubbles and curves, to somehow demonstrate the artist's tough childhood and the strong, loud and clear rhythm in her music.
51
52

The second poster combines one of her famous interview photos and linear shapes. It expresses a sense of comfort deep within her song and beautiful voice.
53
/ Music Poster
54 The third version, which is also seen to be the most succesful one, brings out her brave and rhythm with a bold expression of typography and color. The use of pink and blue demonstrates the sound of R&B, while the fragments indicate not only her life but also the power in her voice.

Designers need to learn how to listen carefully to their clients and collaborators. The purpose of this project is to listen, collect information and then translate that into a visual form. A good designer or researcher appreciates the distinctiveness of the spoken word. We need to think about oral traditions and life stories in different ways: as individual experiences, data, and information about our culture.
In this project I've conduct an interview with an SVA film student James Throssel, on topic of film. I sat down with James asking questions about his attitude as a film maker, walked him down to the street where he skates and builds up ideas from.

One of the fundamental roles of a graphic designer is to determine how texts should be represented on a page or over a series of pages. How do you give visual form to an author’s ideas through design and typography? How do you make the experience of flipping a series of pages exciting and engaging to read? How do you turn language into an object?
I was assigned to design a 16 pages session with only black-and-white or grayscale, regarding to the famous artist Sister Corita Kent and her rules for Immaculate Heart College Art Department. Size for the book is 6'x9'.
71
/ Graphic Design Reader
72
Regarding to Sister Kent's all-by-hand style on her works, I, too, use the same method when designing this session. There are totally 10 rules and 1 hint according to the document that she set for the department, inspiring her students and staffs to creat.
/ Graphic Design Reader
73
74 / Graphic Design Reader
The first 3 pages of this sessions are pure introductions of Sister Kent' s life and works. I treated such info as a formal article, which is why I use computer instead of handwritting to write those words. The rules, on the other hand, are showed in a more vivid and free-style way, by using handwritting and paper cutting.

Known for the warm and comfortable weather in sounthern China, Guangzhou, my hometown, is called the City of Flowers. Spring, summer, autumn, winter, no matter which season Guangzhou is in, the city will always be fulfilled with charming smell of different flowers among the streets. Hopefully it would be the one to held 2028 summer Olympic Games.
83
84
The smooth and elegant movements of the icons indicate the rhyme of southern China. The colorful lines are demenstrations of the theme of 2028 Guangzhou Olympic Game as the City of Flowers.

Icon Design
For so long the icons for most Olympic Games were designed with bold lines and sharp angles to indicate strength and power. It's time to change.

Logos
Learning from the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games, I realized that there could be multiple logos designed for one Olympic Games to indicate a city's culture and spirit. Flamboyant flowers represent Guangzhou. In light of this, the logo for Guangzhou 2028 Olympics Game will be the combination of 5 different flowers that grow mostly in south, to demonstrate the city.

Architecture Canton Tower, or Guangzhou Tower, formally Guangzhou TV Astronomical and Sightseeing Tower, is a 595.7m (1,954 ft) tall multi-purpose observation tower in the Haizhu District of Guangzhou (historically known as Canton or Kwangchow), Guangdong, China. The tower was topped out in 2009 and it became operational on
29 September 2010 for the 2010 Asian Games. The tower briefly held the title of tallest tower in the world, replacing the CN Tower, before being surpassed by the Tokyo Skytree. It was the tallest structure in China prior to the topping out of Shanghai Tower on 3 August 2013. It is now the second tallest tower and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world.

96 Architecture The theatre has become the biggest performing centre in southern China and is one of the three biggest theatres in the nation alongside Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts and Shanghai's Shanghai Grand Theatre. May 2010 saw American filmmaker Shahar Stroh direct the premiere production of the opera house: Puccini's opera Turandot which had in previous years been a controversial opera in China.
The structure was designed by Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid; its freestanding concrete auditorium set within an exposed granite and glass-clad steel frame took over five years to build, and was praised upon opening by architectural critic Jonathan Glancey in The Guardian, who called it "at once highly theatrical and insistently subtle.

Summit Academic Charter School Commercial
As students of Mark DiMassimo, Chief of DiMassimo Goldstein, we were assigned to a real client representing Summit Academit Charter School to help build a new system including branding and commercial story board for them to attract more students to apply before application season. Judging from Summit School's aim to equilize every student, see all of them as talented schoolars, we come up with the idea of "a Gift for Gifted students". The commercial is directed and produced by Shuttersound PicturesŠ

127 The story starts with a new student coming in the school, seeing gifts in everybody else's hand. With such confuse, she attends academic classes, sport events and art events. At the end she, as everyone else at the beginning, recieve a gift from the school, built with her own hand. She is thankful, happy, confident. Soon another new student walks in the school, just like her at the beginning, confused, curious, and gifted.
End.
But not over.
