A Letter from the President - 2015/2016 in Review This year has been an incredibly productive year at the Chamber. As we begin the new fiscal year, we pause to reflect on our accomplishments over the past year. Economic Development We continue to expand our role in economic development through our workforce programs, supporting the development of the gigabit broadband initiative, and Main Street Hanover. Workforce Last October, we recognized our strong manufacturing base by celebrating Manufacturing Week with factory tours and a manufacturing roundtable. Over 50 high school students from Hanover and South Western school districts were able to gain insight into the manufacturing sector, its importance to the local economy, and manufacturing careers available in the Hanover area. In its first year, our Veteran Job Vault successfully matched local veterans with careers in the manufacturing industry. We look forward to the continued growth and success of the job vault. Leadership In May, we graduated 10 local business men and women from our 4th Leadership Hanover class. We look forward to seeing them take on leadership roles within our community. The 2016/17 Leadership Hanover class is expected to graduate 12+ participants. The Hanover Area Young Professionals continues to expand, with a membership of 60+. Downtown Our downtown continues to thrive through revitalization efforts by Main Street Hanover. As MSH enters its fourth year, volunteers, members of the steering committee, leaders in partnered organizations and invested parties within the community will work to decide the next steps for strategically growing the organization for fiscal sustainability and maximized potential for success. Membership In the past year we have welcomed 30 new members to the Chamber. Our staff and volunteers strive to deliver value to our members by hosting networking and community events, offering affordable marketing and advertising opportunities, and advancing the interests of the Hanover business community. In 2015/16, the Chamber hosted several successful events, including the Corporate Challenge, Christmas Luncheon, Hanover Sock Hop, Annual Golf Outing, and the Hanover Dutch Festival. We anticipate a new event to be announced in 2017, and look forward to growing our presence in the Hanover community. I thank you for your continued confidence in the work of your Chamber. Changes Regarding Eye-Opener Breakfasts In August, we sent a survey to regular attendees of our Eye-Opener Breakfast program to judge member satisfaction with the event, and to gauge any opportunity for change as we move into a new fiscal year. Based on our results, and growing inconsistency in breakfast attendance over the past few years, the Chamber staff and board of directors have decided to change the format of the Eye-Opener Breakfast program effective January 2017. The breakfasts will alternate between two set locations for 2017: Bay City and Dutch Country Restaurant. We feel that this will improve the satisfaction and attendance of our future breakfasts, in addition to creating consistency for our members. Breakfast costs to members and guests will remain the same; $12 per member and $15 per non-member.
We also look to revamp our programming by selecting g u e s t speakers and topics based on feedback received from the survey. Participants cited community and economic development as the top choice of topic for Chamber breakfasts. We will continue to include member salutes throughout the year as we have done in the past. We thank you for your continued confidence in the work of your Chamber. If you have any feedback or suggestions on how we can better serve your needs, please do not hesitate to contact the Chamber office.

DOCEO Office Solutions has hired Christian White as Vice President of Sales of Lancaster County. White will manage the DOCEO Office Solutions team of technology consultants in Lancaster County.
White received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from York College of Pennsylvania, and most recently worked for Toshiba Business Solutions (TBS) in New Jersey. White is very familiar with DOCEO Office Solutions, as he was one of the founding Equity Partners when DOCEO was established in 2004. He was formerly Vice President and Partner at DOCEO, and was heavily involved with the creation of the company that included the operations strategy, technology infrastructure and initial brand development. DOCEO Office Solutions has hired Andrew Murray as Installation & Training Specialist. Murray received his Associates Degree in Specialized Business from the York Technical Institute with a focus on Office Systems. His most recent job engagement was at Quality Digital Office Technology. Along with his extensive knowledge with copiers, printers and other office solutions, Murray also brings experience in other fields that include software and IT support. DOCEO Office Solutions has recently hired Julie Lavetan as Vice President of Technology Solutions. Lavetan is originally from New York, NY and attended Hofstra University, where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Psychology. Lavetan is a jack-of-all trades, and master of technology at DOCEO Office Solutions. Her prior accomplishments have prepared her to
more than just software solutions.
BEAVER JOINS SOUTH PENN EYE CARE Erica A. Beaver, O.D., recently joined the team at South Penn Eye Care.
Beaver attended Millersville University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology/Pre-Optometry. While at Millersville, she was enrolled in the 3+4 Pre-Optometry program which allowed her to complete her undergraduate studies within three years and graduate following completion of her first year at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016 and graduated with highest honors as well as clinical excellence in primary eye care. Beaver enjoys primary eye care with a special interest in corneal, conjunctival, and lenticular disease, having earned a certification for advanced studies in anterior segment in addition to her standard curriculum and clinical training.
WEIK JOINS CHILDREN’S AID SOCIETY AS ART THERAPIST
Courtney Weik, MA, has joined the clinical staff of Children’s Aid Society and will be working at the The Nicarry Center in New Oxford as an Art Therapist.
Weik received her Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Cedar Crest College in August 2016. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Psychology from Kutztown University. Weik has experience working with mental and physical illness in children, adolescents and adults, within a medical setting and open studio environment.

RLH CPAs & Business Advisors (RLH) is happy to announce the two recent hires in the Hanover office and two promotions Marcia Howe, CPA has over 15 years of experience in the accounting industry. Her most recent and significant experience was with a local real estate developer. Her responsibilities included general ledger preparation, working with multiple budgets, common area billings, and preparation of partnership tax returns. Howe lives in Abbottstown with her husband and 2 children. Patrick Markovic is a recent graduate of Lebanon Valley College, where he earned a BS in Accounting and Business Administration. At Lebanon Valley, Markovic was a member of the lacrosse team, the Sigma Alpha Pi Honors fraternity, and he was an Accounting Tutor and the Investment Club Treasurer. Among all his activities and school work, he also found time to volunteer as a youth coach in the Lebanon
Business Briefs Valley Lacrosse Club. He is a native of the Westminster area, graduating from Winters Mill High School. Megan Kennis, CFE has been a member of the RLH team since 2008, and was recently promoted to Accounting Supervisor. During that time, she has gained experience in many areas of client service within the firm. Her focus is on audits of nonprofit organizations and their related tax compliance requirements. As a nonprofit specialist, she performs single audits and programspecific audits for these organizations. Additionally, as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Kennis helps clients prevent, detect, and deter fraud within their organizations. She is also a member of the employee benefit plan audit team. Albana Sayeedy was recently promoted to Accounting Supervisor. She has been a member of the RLH team since 2014 and has over seven years of experience in public accounting. Her focus is on financial statement and single audits of governmental units, nonprofit organizations, and private for-profit companies. She is also responsible for the review and oversight of audit, review and compilation financial statement engagements.
SGASD APPOINTS NEW SUPERINTENDANT, ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDANT
Dr. David Renaut was appointed by the Board of School Directors as Superintendent of the Spring Grove Area School District (SGASD), effective July 1, 2016. Renaut had previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of the District since November 2007. Initially, his role as assistant superintendent was focused on kindergarten through sixth grade and was expanded to cover all grades, K-12, in 2011.
He first joined the district in 2001 as the principal of New Salem Elementary School. Following Renaut’s graduation from Shippensburg University in 1980, he began his career as a social studies teacher at Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Renaut earned his principal’s certification (K-6 and 7-12) from Shippensburg University. He received his doctoral degree from Immaculata University in March 2013. Dr. Mary Beth Grove has been named Assistant Superintendant of SGASD. Grove received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Frostburg State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Western Maryland College, and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. Grove has been in public education for over 27 years, with experience as an elementary classroom teacher, an Instructional Support Teacher, an Assistant Principal, and a Principal, most recently at East York Elementary School in the York Suburban School District. Grove received the prestigious honor of being selected as the 2015 PAESSP National Distinguished Principal.

In addition to his expertise in general pulmonary (lung) and critical care medicine, Habib’s areas of special interest include performing endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and navigational bronchoscopy procedures. Andrea King, CRNP, RN, MS, a Nurse Practitioner, is the newest provider at Hanover Medical Group Cardiology. She will see patients prior to and returning from the cath lab, and will be following patients in the hospital after their PCI (interventional cardiac) and vascular procedures. King completed her post graduate family nurse practitioner education at Millersville University, where she had previously earned her Masters of Nursing Education degree. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree prior, at East Stroudsburg University, and has School Nurse Certification. Most recently, King has worked at Hanover Hospital as a nursing supervisor, and a Critical Care nurse before that time. She was also employed as a Certified School Nurse at South Western High School in Hanover, served as a travel nurse with American Mobile Healthcare, San Diego and as a burn ICU nurse at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA.

He served Internal Medicine residencies at Staten Island University Hospital, in Staten Island, NY and at the Intensive Care Unit, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Cleveland, OH, and recently completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island.

Oktoberfest - Fall’s Sip Christmas in Downtown & Stroll Hanover Join downtown Hanover merchants and local vendors for this strolling and sampling event celebrating the fall season and Hanover’s German heritage! On October 8, Main Street Hanover will present the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest. This style event is a follow-up partner to the very popular Sip & Stroll events held in June inviting adults to enjoy the shops and nightlife in Downtown Hanover. Downtown businesses and local vendors are pairing up to offer samples of local food, wine, and beer in various locations around downtown Hanover! Tickets holders will stroll around the downtown visiting different businesses and tasting a wide variety of unique offerings from local establishments. Participants will also enjoy live music and special deals on a variety of in-store items.
There is no better way to get acquainted, or re-acquainted, with the Downtown than spending the evening walking around the square, running into old friends, eating some of the best local food and imbibing in drinks served at a local business you may have never visited before.
