As Indiana’s oldest private institution, established in 1827, Hanover College has higher education down to a (liberal arts and) science. For nearly 200 years, our graduates have discovered their passions through our wide variety of opportunities, from academics to athletics and social life to study abroad. That’s one of the best things about the liberal arts – you’ll choose from our 34 majors – but you’ll never be limited to just one thing! Experience and exploration are mandatory, and it sets our alumni apart. No wonder 99% of our students are working or continuing their education within 7 months of graduation.

Design Your Own Major
Fit your specific interests and passions into a major that suits you. Blend biochemistry and kinesiology or concentrate on consumer marketing. Select your core areas of study, choose your professors and put together the final proposal for declaring your major.
We mean business, literally. Major or minor, and choose a concentration in finance, marketing, management, analytics or international business, but that’s not all. Our Business Scholars Program supports students in any major with experiences including workshops, career counseling, consulting projects and a paid, project-based internship.
CADAVER LAB
If you’ve got a weak stomach, stop reading now. Let’s talk bodies. At Hanover, you don’t learn anatomy from a book and you don’t have to wait until you’re in grad school to get hands-on with a cadaver. We’re the only school in the region that offers undergraduate access to a cadaver and an artificial patient simulator. With the addition of our Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, our lab facilities are growing, too. Grab some gloves and a scalpel, class starts in 10.
DATA
Dig into the data. At Hanover, research means hours in the lab, international travel and presenting at professional conferences. Master this art, working one-on-one with our faculty, and you will add your name to the list of Hanoverians who have earned Boren, Fulbright and Goldwater scholarships to continue their research post-graduation. (And it looks great on a resume!)
ENVIRONMENT
No other campus has 650 acres of woodlands, waterfalls and streams just outside your door. It’s one of the reasons Hanover has been named among the top 20 of the nation’s most beautiful campuses over and over again. You can enjoy the natural beauty of campus by watching an early morning sunrise, hiking one of our trails or relaxing in a hammock outside on a sunny day.
FACULTY
Our students enjoy a close relationship with faculty in classes with an average of only 17 students and a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Plus, 94% of our faculty have achieved either their doctorate or terminal degree. Outside the classroom Hanover students can make even closer connections, with nearly a quarter of our faculty living right here on campus.
Need an editor for your biggest paper of the term? Having trouble in calculus class? Get to the Gladish Learning Center. Made up of Hanover students who excel in academics, this is our version of the Genius Bar. Open from 7-11 p.m., help is there when you need it most.
HEARTLAND CONFERENCE
In the past year alone, Panthers racked up four conference titles with women’s basketball and indoor track and men’s soccer and football, along with an All-American honoree and NCAA tournament appearances. In fact, we’ve won more than 37 conference championships and made 15 NCAA III national tournament appearances in the last five years. Plus, after securing top two finishes in the men’s and women’s all-sports standings for the second year in a row, the Hanover College Athletic Department won the 2019-20 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup. Whether through varsity, intramural or club sports, there are plenty of opportunities to stay active.

Our students come from 14 different countries around the globe. JOIN
Ready to get involved? Hanover has more than 70 active clubs and organizations, and the list is always growing. Want to dominate the ultimate frisbee game? Host an anime movie marathon? Connect with the community to make real change? Talk politics with your peers? We’ve got something for everyone.
Interacting with each other is a great way to advance positive changes. That’s the philosophy of this student club that creates multicultural programming to ensure that all students come together as a family in the wake of our ever-changing world. As their motto says, think outside the box and look inside the person.

BENJAMIN TEMPLETON SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Named after Hanover’s first African-American student, this program recognizes students who are dedicated to promoting social justice, human rights and diversity. These scholars are some of the most diverse, intelligent and compassionate individuals on campus. Templeton, who attended from 1832-1837, went on to lead the Free-Black Movement in Philadelphia. Find out more at hanover.edu/bts.
UNITY FEST
If you’ve ever had the desire to eat six servings of gelato, climb a rock wall and take hilarious pictures in a photo booth with your friends, you’ll love this original event. Held during May Term and sponsored by Hanover’s Student Senate, Unity Fest’s goal is to unite the diverse student body at Hanover through an afternoon of celebration. Check out highlights from our latest event at hanover.edu/unity.
VOLUNTEER
A true Hanoverian doesn’t focus simply on self-improvement, but the betterment of their community as a whole. Look no further than our active student body, whether it’s College Mentors for Kids, Best Buddies, Hanover College Dance Marathon or our Earthwide Outreach group.
Home runs and stolen bases are a small part of Hanover’s most exciting time of year! Grab your roommate, lab partner or best friend and make a team! Ask any student, the annual Lambda Chi Alpha Wiffleball Tournament is a blast, but it’s only one piece of Hanover’s unique May Term experience.
YOUR NEW HOME
Our college town, Madison, was recently named one of the best communities in the country and Indiana’s sixth cultural district. The scenic downtown is lined with shops and restaurants, including popular spots such as Red Pepperoni for pizza, Hong Kong Kitchen for Chinese and Thai cuisine and Hinkle’s for burgers and shakes. Madison is also host to year-round arts and music festivals and includes the largest contiguous National Historic Landmark District in the nation.
