The College Tour

From our founding in 1827 through today, Hanover College has always embraced the core of what it truly means to be a liberal arts institution. Continued innovation, evolution and creativity are essential to our success and that of our students. In nearly 200 years we’ve seen the birth of new academic programs, renovated facilities to meet modern needs and more. Still, our biggest strength has always been the same: our people. Learn about a few of our recent graduates and try to put yourself in their shoes — their stories are typical of Hanover graduates. They’re pursuing their passions, working in fields including healthcare, business and finance with companies such as Ernst & Young, Fidelity View the Investments and Walt College Tour Disney. Some continued their education, pursuing advanced degrees at institutions including Penn State, Indiana University and Hanover College’s own doctoral programs.

Majors: Biology and Chemistry Next Step: Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences – Indiana University School of Medicine

Major: Business Next Step: Post-Grad Internship Priority Sports and Entertainment

Major: Engineering Next Step: Field Engineer – Turner Construction Co.

During my time at Hanover, I built a strong academic foundation through coursework in research methods, statistical analysis, and anatomy, which has prepared me for the challenges of advanced study. I’m especially excited about the opportunity to contribute to innovation in the biomedical field while helping patients better understand their health and improve their quality of life. My long-term goal of working behind the scenes in healthcare aligns closely with a research-focused career.

During my internship with Priority Sports and Entertainment, I served as a Sports Marketing Intern, where I handled daily social media news alerts across the NBA, NFL, and international basketball, created player bios and Canva profiles, managed NIL and client lists, conducted brand research and outreach, and supported both the WBB Launch and NBA Training Camp preparations.

I credit my time at Hanover, including my classes, labs, and mentorship experiences, for shaping me into a capable and confident scientist. I encourage other students to connect with professors and explore research opportunities, such as summer programs like the SUREBS program at IU School of Medicine, which helped solidify my own path. I’m grateful to the Biology and Chemistry departments and to Dr. Mynhardt, whose mentorship played a pivotal role in my journey.

The experience not only confirmed much of what my professors taught about the realities of the sports industry, but also expanded my network in ways that will open doors for future roles, including an invitation to return after graduation to support pre-draft events for WNBA and NBA athletes. My Hanover professors played a key role in equipping me for this opportunity, offering insight and advice drawn from their own industry experience that I was able to apply directly to my work.

Following graduation, I began working as a Field Engineer for Turner Construction Co., the same company I interned for the previous summer. In this position, I will manage technical operations outside of a centralized office... directing and coordinating on-site teams, providing technical support and training and being a liaison between owners and trade partners. What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to solve real-world problems every day and contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact on surrounding communities. During my time at Hanover College, I developed strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills that prepared me to succeed in rigorous environments. Balancing multiple jobs alongside my engineering coursework strengthened my time management, adaptability, and organizational abilities. I would like to thank Professor Brooks for encouraging me to stay in engineering when it got rough. That support played an important role in helping me reach this point.

Majors: Business and Psychology

Major: Communication Next Step: Deaconess Health Foundation (Orr Fellowship) – Marketing and Business Development

Next Step: JD at Indiana University Bloomington Maurer School of Law I will be pursuing my Juris Doctorate (JD) at Indiana University Bloomington Maurer School of Law on a full-tuition scholarship. After earning my degree, I plan to enter criminal or corporate law and ultimately open my own firm focused on pro bono work and giving back to my community. I discovered this opportunity through a Hanover alumni referral and my own research, with invaluable support from the Levett Career Center, its resources, and my professors, who helped me strengthen my application materials and interviewing skills. Hanover College prepared me well through its liberal arts education, helping me develop strong skills in writing, critical thinking, and communication. My experiences in Sigma Chi had the greatest impact on my growth, providing leadership and personal development opportunities. As a firstgeneration student, this journey hasn’t been easy, but Hanover’s support system made all the difference.

Through this fellowship, I hope to gain valuable experience in leadership and community building while working with the charitable arm of Deaconess to help raise funds that support the hospital and the people it serves. I have always wanted to pursue a career focused on helping others, and this opportunity aligns perfectly with that goal. Throughout the application process, I received support from career peer mentors, family, friends, and professors. I learned about this opportunity through a professor recommendation, and I would especially like to thank Dr. Rachel Davidson for encouraging me to apply—without her support, I may not have found or pursued the fellowship. Because the Orr Fellowship is highly competitive, I am extremely thankful for everyone who helped me pursue this opportunity, and I am excited to see what the next few years with the fellowship and Deaconess will bring.
