PREFACE

Portfolio publication made possible in part of Master of Architecture, RIBA Part ll study in UiTM Puncak Alam, 2017-2019. Established in education process of longtime UiTM instructor, critic, and supervisor. This series periodically brings the outcome of architectural design work produced with thought to share with architects and thinkers of the day. No period in the series' history has been more fruitful in doing so than the tenure of Associate Prof. Ar. Faridah Adnan and Professor Dr. Sabarinah as studio leader of the final year of the study, who bought a succession of the studio onto producing one of the best alumnus with an outstanding overall performance luminating the studio source of satisfaction. Tutored by Mdm. Harlina Mohd Ali who bring the best out of the author with an extensive exploration through multiple session. Thus, producing a productive and thoughtful understanding of the current issue that could be encounter by simple design solution. Producing Digital Clinic under her supervision is one of the greatest journey that develop the author's senses to understood more of the environment, flows of digital information, digital rehabilitation, social ecology and its constructive behaviour. Together with Ar. Puteri Mayang Bahjah who guide the studio during high-rise semester, a visit to Shenzhen, China and Hong Kong to visit some of the most high-tech tower, visioned and built by great architect such as HSBC Bank by Foster + Partners. Under the vision and idea of Unlocking the Default, following the enthusiastic response in lecture, exploration workshops and technical understanding startled the very nature of the author's development toward simplicity, clarity of rhetoric innovation, richness of visual imagery and attention to details. This lead to the studio second documented publication, 'Unlocking The Default ll: Imagining The Future' that was further published in the National Public Library of Malaysia by UiTM. Instrumenting the urban studio, under the vision of Sir Fairuz Reza and Tuan Syed Sobri in lights shape the studio unto a discoursed urban thinker, designer and planner. Various theory and independant thoughts were brought out during the tutorial and critic session. This lead to the projection and publication of the studio first documented architectural works, process of thoughts and theories. Padu Magazine was successfully published earlier as the first experimental publication. A great amount of time and effort to realising this project has been dealt with, and this was totally obvious that this should become another stepping stone for the book series. Following from the first Architectural Portfolio published by the author, a compilation of work produced during Bachelor Science (Hons.) Architecture RIBA Part l in 2011-2014. Sincere gratitude and appreciation to Ir. Haji Md Zahar, Hjh. Nik Zaleha, Dalia Qistina, family members and friends for the endless support, patient and kindness. Thank you.

Project Brief Digital communication are used everywhere in this world with devices like smart phone and tablet. A symbolic gesture that illustrate technology advancement in achieving ways of communication, resolving economic and social constrain throughout the whole world. Gives an idea for people to live only for themselves. The new perspective effectuated into minds where people start living when lifestyles shared through social networking like Facebook and Instagram, an absent virtual community that serve to stimulate their self-satisfaction. These virtual community members are the one that decide the hierarchy of people’s importance. Cyber bullying and lost in social identity is the conflict that we are facing. The design proposal, Digital Clinic is a place for resolution that highlights the issue of the paradigmatic technology that absorbs human capability to appreciate their presence. Rehabilitation clinic that capable in enriching the sensual thoughts and understanding towards society particularly in cyberspace. Patients attending the clinic will have the opportunity to focus towards the best of their self-development. Struck between urban and rural area, Kwasa Damansara, Shah Alam selected as location of study. The township allocation is suitable for such development for what it offers in terms of the natural sources and neighbouring with sub-urban setting. Keeping close to nature to enhance attraction that is more physical rather than clutch it together with other technology company. The clinic separated into three zone of Administration, Art Therapeutic and Residency and Gallery. To ensure the healing process goes through appropriate timeframe and not being force, critical patients are allow to stay in residency. Each diagnosis phase developed to create a different collaborative process in refraining unproductivity and negative behavioural patterns. The dynamic of the diagnosis space will generate a healthier and productive youths while providing enhanced education and information towards a positive path. It will serve as digital induced mental clinic that scale up the senses and understanding of the user. Technology Hub zone were separated with the private part of the clinic to allow privacy for the patients and innovation between techpreneur within accumulative setting. Through understanding of digital healing architecture, both digital and physical healing method applied further developed into digital rehabilitation garden. Through the juxtaposition of architecture and programmes, inclusive are the digital in nature as to create the ambiance and harmony of the space. The design are seamless with the nature as curves and low number of sharp edges to treat the patient from within architecture camouflage with the nature. A consideration of patient’s mental problem, treated from positioning of trees for calming to tree house digital pod for interactive and joy. The healing pods as new typology with more interactive and seamless intervention that replacing traditional rehabilitation clinic. The tree house effect produce more playful and allow space for exploration. This is essential as disturbance of the mind can affect thinking, feeling and behaviour that may interfere with normal functioning, and thus make daily life difficult. Which, what have been missing along the line of mental illness is the digitally induced mental pains.

To study in-depth the possibiity of a multiflex spaces in integrated architecture and technology that could uplift the sensual thoughts of user. The design challenged is to implement the thoughts for users to bring out their best capabilities without being socially compared within innovative cyberspace. To explore new design approaches for the user in terms of flexible spaces, technology visualisation and etc.


Issue Scenario

Today, everyone have the access to the internet that could be used for many reason and personal assistance. Today youth especially, is developing a known syndrome of Internet Addiction Disorder as they continuosly use their mobile phone, tablet or a computer to access the internet without any supervision and controlled term. This is due to the development of the technology in order for them to live their daily life. It has came to a great nuances when the technology also created a virtual community, whom is the users that allowed to say anything in their mind. A borderless community. However, these absent virtual community is uncontrollably using the access granted as they start to be the one that decide the hierarchy’s of people’s importance. The users are provoked to abide their judgement, preference and suggestion of who they are without no consideration towards users wants and needs. The thoughts of others matters more than the needs and wants of the user, this progressive products creates more people tend to lost in depression, cyberbullying victim, time wasting and unproductivity. The thoughts somehow can be differently used in architectural and technology manner in creating a more dynamic thinking products that enabling their further society understanding in the cyberspace. Realising of its potential, the project was initiated to change the way of thoughts and usage of the internet in an innovative spaces. A dynamic multiflex space that is able to enrich the sensual thougths for them to have their own identiy and more productivity behaviour.

This unrest social is leading to another case that is highly anticipated to anyone that occured the social media account. One of the principal symptoms of dopamine deficiency is depression, cronic boredom, a loss of satisfaction, and low physical energy with no desire to exercise the body. Dopamine deficieny could rapidly swing from positive behaviour to negative behaviour.

Services are allowed underneath the floor as the pod uses imaginarium screen across the internal wall. This allows a space for mechanical projection and air conditioning system. AC system used is fancoil distributed from the main AHU. (same concept with hotel room)

The Daikin VRV system is a multi-split type air conditioner for commercial buildings that uses variable refrigerant flow control developed by Daikin to provide customers with the ability to maintain individual zone control in each room and floor of a building.

The telecommunication provider for this building is TM Berhad. The building telecommunication system 24 are tapped from underground cable telephone along Jalan Tasik Kenyir parallel to the side of the site. The telecommunication system are connected to the Server Room and PABX which is then distributed through out the building. The Server Room will have a direct line towards main area such as Tree House Pod or Administration Office. However, an internal line will be use to go through PABX room, which is used for operator control line at Control Room. Operator will control the telephone lines for other spaces.

Extra Low Voltage: Extra Low Voltage includes all the system in building which operate on low voltages like telephone, data transmission, LAN, CTV, public address (PA) and master dock system etc.

1 Description Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd is a national sewerage company which has been entrusted with the task of developing and maintaining a modern and efficient sewerage system across West Malaysia. The sewerage line is tap to main sewerage pipeline along Jalan Tasik Kenyir located at front and side of the site. The proposed sewerage system for this building is vacuum sewerage system. It is a method of transporting sewage from its source to a sewage treatment plant. It use difference atmospheric pressure and a partial vacuum maintained in the piping network and vacuum station collection vessel.

Project Brief Metabolism for dweller’s to sense their respective belonging in lifes expectation, experiences, sensory towards aesthetics and to be responsive towards their inner-self. Mutual affection from base theory of derive, backed by sensory and spielraum (psychology of spaces) help determined the understanding of the soul’s journey in capitalising its potential and the capabilities to achieve peace, serenity, motivations and strength. The 4 intervention created is to define a new pattern of development that is strictly emphasized on the whereabout of the city’s culture and heritage values. Concept // Hypothesis Self-Contentment [An act of neo-symbiotic within individualism] It is in the nature of human to live and took pride of their living. To live in an individualism in creating their own purpose of life. Fortunes, power, wealth, knowledge, wisdom, happiness and vengeance are some of the most common ideology that captivated in one mind. The affection of past experience and memories create the dillusion of those ideologies. For this they rely on bigger power or sources to define a future for themselves. Relying on outsourcing rather than creating their living base on their own purpose. Serenity The theme of the project is to help them reposses their pride through self-contentment within the journey of the soul. The intervention will allow them to enhance their own capability to be fond over themselves in creating confidence, a self-believer, visionary and socially prepared for the future. Playful

Hypothesis Self contentment is engaged from every aspect to regain their sense of belonging, purpose of life and reconcile past memories or creating new ones. Creating the first-class mentality and thoughts to regain their life-style, community and nurturing their culture in living. The need to reconfigure tourism base on the city of harmony or ‘Muafakat Johor’ brings a wider range of people in Johor Bahru. Urgency to rethink the casual idea of developing the city into a tourist centric city in regaining benefit commercially push the boundary of pre claiming the nature of its inhabitants. The people of Johor, in diversitified culture and nurture in progression resulted in a new typology that supports future growth of the population. Giving priority towards the local development to reduce the amount of crimes involved and developing civilization that tend to forget about finding the nature of him/her self. Intervention 01 - Cultural Education Hub A method of manipulation in permeability is used in order to avoid existing rigid urban development. To be responsive with the existing site context and urban densitification, height is develop up to two - three storey block. Re:Program Wisma Central Urban Cycling Cloud Competition 3rd Place In contrast to the scale of urban fabric in the city, 'Urban Cycling Cloud' integrates a series of social active programs that translated into the modular pixelated - including recreation, retail, offices, continuous ramps, suspended gallery and water reflective event platform that unite to form a cultural hyper platform with new typology - active user's experiences. The overall aim was to create a bicycle hub as cycling urban catalyst that will generate creativity surrounding. A series of 'continuous ramps', which mediate between indoor and outdoor space, provide porousness at different street level of ramp that will enhance the different experience of cyclist. Hyperlink Bridge New Urban Pathway Competition Participant Moynihan Train Hall takes up two entire New York City blocks on Manhattan's West Side, stretching from Eight to Ninth Avenues between 31st and 33rd streets. The eastern half of the building across from Madison Square Garden and the present Pennsylvania Station contains the transportation hub in question, while the western half contains unrelated commercial use. Hudson Yards is a large urban development occupying 28-acres that is transforming the West Side of Manhattan with construction of 18,000,000 sqft state of the art commercial and residential space, including a new center for artistic innovation called The Shed. Accessible from the city's widely popular High Line, competition entries must show The Shed as the termination point for the pedestrian walkway at Hudson Yards. Create a new pedestrian urban pathway originating at the transportation hub portion of Moynihan Train Hall and terminating in the vicinity of The Shed in Hudson Yards.
