A LETTER FROM YOUR Hey Monsters!

Since our first general meeting after club rush, we had over 100 people show up and that’s amazing! You can still invite all your friends to join Sheldon Key Club and this amazing ohana! I love seeing all the new faces at the service events, meetings, and all around school! Enjoy this months issue and I can’t wait to see you guys around!

Volunteers helped pass out food to the finishing runners and were assigned to be a course monitor.

Volunteers worked at the Packet Pickup station, as well as the medal and post-refreshment stations later on at this event.

Spotlight On Service Program:

What is PTP? The Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP), was established by the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation in 1994. The purpose is to build service projects to educate people of children's safety in order to decrease the number of children killed and injured due to traumatic injuries.

Facts about PTP 





They improve the outcomes for children who experience pediatric trauma by providing grants to out partner hospitals Unintentional injury kills more children every year than any other cause, including disease, homicide, and suicide 40% of deaths and 50% of nonfatal unintentional injuries can occur in and around the home among children 14 and under

How can I help?

You can help fundraise for PTP by contributing to service projects.

M California Capital Airshow Sat & Sun October 5-6

Location: Mather Airport (Located on Highway 50 and Mather Field Road)

Task: Volunteers may be cashiers or greeters providing guests with warm welcome while handling directional flags for parking control Time: 6:00AM - 5:00PM (might end early) *please print out the wavier *

Fall Rally North Location: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Saturday October 19th

What: Thousands of Key Clubbers gather each year at Six Flags on their selected day to show their pride and spirit. At Fall Rally North and South, LTGs and Executive officers are auctioned off to Divisions, and the winning Division is allowed to spend a certain amount of time with the purchased officer. All funds from the auctioning period goes towards the Pediatric Trauma Program.

Time: 7:00AM – 6:00PM

Run For A Safe Haven Location: William Land Park

Saturday October 26th

Task: Volunteers will set up, help with registration, manage food & drink stations , and cheer for runners!

Time: 6:30AM - 11:00AM

Be The Gift 5K Location: 985 Riverfront St, West Sacramento, CA 95691 Task: Volunteers will be handing out water and metals at the finish line.

Time: 6:30AM - 11:00AM

Travis has always been a hard working member. He not only attends many service events but is always there to help. Travis has always been there ready to aid officers in task and has even lend a hand in running our club rush booth.

Kaley Xiong– Junior Kaley has done a lot as an officer this year already! With her busy schedule she has managed to form her committee, continuously attend service events, and finding them for members. Kaley has always been a dedicated member and is now an excellent officer.

Annabelle Saechao– Sophomore Caring is one of the most important values of Key Club. It is even in our motto and Annabelle exemplifies it. She isn’t just positive or kind but she’s a genuinely compassionate person. She demonstrates caring in her words, actions, and service!

Run With The Cops 5K

Run with the Cops was an opportunity for ordinary citizens to run a 5k marathon alongside officers from our local law enforcement. As a Key Club volunteer, I was a designated worker at the water station and distributed water to runners passing by the midpoint section of the race. Personally, my highlight of the volunteer experience was receiving a sincere and warm “Thank You” from almost every runner. After witnessing the gratitude from runners at the race exclaiming “Thank you for coming out to volunteer!”, I am reminded of the importance of community service, as well as the realization that only with the support and dedication of each individual will things happen.

RTC at Paradise Falls

Although this was my last Region 16 Training Conference, it was a memorable one. In all of the years that I’ve gone to RTC we’ve never once won the spirit stick until this year. It was nice to see everyone enjoy the aspects of key club for what it is and seeing everyone cheer their hearts out as if it was their last event made me realize why I joined during my freshman year. Even though I’ve gone to RTC all 4 years, I still manage to learn something new at the workshops. I enjoyed how everyone was so spirited and kind to one another.
