At Snarkitecture, I was able to work on several different projects. The projects featured are Kith Tokyo, a residential project, and the Chidlom Department Store in Bangkok. Kith Tokyo’s design is inspired by traditional Japanese elements as well as futuristic and “out of this world” ideas. This Long Island residential property, originally designed by Norman Foster, was renovated to keep the integrity of its original design, while introducing a modern touch. The framework of the built-in couch was kept, but the upholstery was modernized with new curvature and texture. Architecture hatches were used as an inspiration for part of the design of the Chidlom Department Store in Bangkok.

Final Building
Crane, a mixed-use skyscraper, was designed to explore a new language of architecture where land meets water while maintaining a regional, industrial character. Crane’s program includes artist lofts, student housing, amenities, and public spaces such as a museum and a restaurant. The dramatic cantilever houses most of the building’s amenities, such as the gym, the event space, and the student lounge.

A place for makers to display and sell their work. A place for shoppers and tourists to buy new clothing.

A place for makers, thinkers, designers, and tourists to stroll, ponder, and gather.

A place for makers, thinkers, designers and tourists to gather, sit down, sketch, and enjoy the nature of the Everglades, all while enjoying the warmth of fire pits. Water

Fashion design has the potential to be a voice for change, becoming a discipline that will make an impact on society and change behavior for the better. Through studying the similarities between fashion and architecture, a fashion designer’s retreat will be designed to help designers create with an eye for doing good. The retreat will create a place out of nothing, and house an institute whose aim is to promote fashion that is sustainable and innovative.

The Nobe Incubator was designed as part of a larger development. The development was designed as a project that would be viable and vital into the year 2100, having adapted to possible sea level rise. The Nobe Incubator is the center lot in the master plan, therefore was designed as a community center for the new development. The goal was to create a public, supportive building where the community will interact through a market space that is linked to an urban hydroponic system which will provide enough food for the entire population of newly developed, neighboring lots, as well as locals. The building will provide community activity and engage the existing locals by providing affordable work share spaces, accessible incubator retail, and healthy food and activities.

The Highway Church drawing is an exploratory drawing of the textures used in the Highway Church of Italy. The drawing explores how the textures change in response to the design. The Synagogue was designed with a modern take on the idea of bathing in order to purify one self. It explores public vs. private bathing, as well as separation between man and woman. The plan was designed to emphasize these differences, with separate entrances, as well as a progression of pools from public to private.

The Urban playground was designed with a repetition of curved modules that create a series of sand boxes. The modules provide shade, and also have slits to allow plants to grow in them. The module was also designed to provide seating, providing prime sight lines for parents to watch their children.
