the city. These have become a big part of the city of Starkville, thus being the need for a park dedicated to expression. The Starkville Mural Park would be a place a space for membersof the community to paint their own form of expression on this blank canvas. There will be a place to sit and enjoy this artwork in the park as well as the water features and greenery that will also be implementedthroughout. This site is in a great location as it is located right of of Main Street, making it easily available for all of the Starkville residents.

The Culinary Arts School 2023 Fall Semester Biloxi, MS Through this project, I wanted to look into 3 main questions:How to create a safe outdoor space in a seemingly unsafe area? How to create an exterior circulation space in between multistory buildings? And how to create new buildings that celebrate the existing architecture? I found that a central path through the campus could be a way to provide a sense of security for the pedestrian. Creating outdoor space along this path to provide points of rest along the path and a way to connect to the interior space. And finally, relocating the existing homes to the center of the pathway to give them a greater sense of hierarchy, with the other existing buildings being at the beginning and the end of the pathway as a way to celebrate them.

East Biloxi is a city that used to see lots of activity, but has faced many hurricanes decreasing this activity. This culinary arts school could allow for more foot traffic in this area as well as more restaurants bringing in more tourists as well as more places for the locals in order to bring more life back into the city.

Crosswalk Design 2023 Fall Semester MS Safe crosswalks are important to urban and suburban spaces to ensure pedestrian safety. A colorful crosswalk contributes to increasing this safety factor. Studies have shown that people tend to pay more attention to bright colors while driving as they are more prominently visible. In spaces like downtown squares and schools this is even more important. Crosswalks can be great forms of artistic expression too. Colorful artwork can express local culture and can convey educational messages to the community. This project was to create a sidewalk design, as well as digital stencils that can be used to implement the design in a community. A book was also created as a tool for communities to implement their own vibrant, safe crosswalks through a step-bystep guide and provide templates to help build safer, more lively communities.

Design 1: This concept behind the “ flying insects“ is to show the relationship between plants and pollinators. This design is meant to be fun and interactive for the community to experience as they go throughout there day. Image shown represents a 20’ wide crosswalk section. Design may vary based on road size.

Design 2: This concept behind the “ jumping circles“ is to encourage healthy living in the community. The Stripes represent three different paths that can be taken and the circles are to act as a “ hop scotch’ path to encourage movement as well as a sense of playfulness. The bright colors were used to “ brighten up” the users’ day. Image shown represents a 20’ wide crosswalk section. Design may vary based on road size.

Starkville Town Plan In an effort to promote a city that is more pedestrain friendly, implementing a bold color crosswalk throughout the entire city would be a way to encourage this. Implementing these colored crosswalks would make walking in the city more enjoyable as well as provide a safer place for this to occur in the heavily trafficed streets of Starkville, Mississippi. This could also be a reason to expand the murals that have been installed all throughout the city. The red indicates a five mile walking radius from the center of the site.

Mound Bayou Renovation and Redesign 2022 Spring Semester Mound Bayou, MS

The Mound Bayou Renovation and Redesign project primarly focused on the historical significance of the town. When beginning the design, I wanted to make the addition different from the bank building so there would be a defined difference between the old and the new, while still keeping the existing building the focus of the project.

Brick Design and Construction 2021 Spring Semester Group Members: Kassie Beasley, Alana VIce and Ada Fulghman The design of “ The Ripple” was created with the incorporation of natural curvatures to facilitate the movement of water down the surface of a wall. The intention inspired the name and also the shape, similar to the movement of water itself, and has other features with highlight the curves and uniqueness of this design. One of these features is the surface of the block itself, whose undulating curves create the opportunity for dynamic shadowing, showcasing the natural texture of the concrete and inviting illumination. The blocks interaction with organic elements also extends to weathering: rainfall interacts with concrete facades by washing over them, which can leave deposits of dirt as well as staining from accumulated chemicals on the continous channels down the block wall prevent dirt from accumulating while simultaneously welcoming the weathering from rainfall that could provide darker staining along the concave curves on the surface, further highlighting the “ Ripple” .

The 3D printed hook component, when installed, would wrap around the front of a selected block, and create a connectionpoint along the wall for foliage. The attachment also adds a visual element of verticality , contrasting with the organic curves of the block. Climbing plants are encouraged to follow the curving channels of the surface, and the accessory attachments provide a place to connect to and guide the growth of the plants.
