Urban Collage

One of the fi rst exercises of the semester was to create a collage as a way of solving urban poche and spatial conditions. This approach is taken from Colin Rowe’s Collage City and from Urban Design Tactics by Steven Peterson.

The given fi gure grounds (directly below) are fi rst changed into a collage at a size of 17” x 22” with other fi gure grounds taken from multiple cities. The collage is changed again (top right) and then scaled to incorporate a garden (bottom right 8.5” x 11”).
