Maggie’s Counseling Center
Temporary Means and Methods Temporary architectural means and methods imply the theory that not everything built is meant to look permanent. My concept for this project was to provide a counseling center that was designed to look temporary while still having a strong pull for
community and inclusion. By utilizing metal scaffolding, the building radiates a temporary feeling for those who approach. My goal was to have the visitors realize that their current situation is only a temporary moment that will pass.
Floorplans Surrounded by the scaffolding, a positive negative void structure (inspired by the historic row house architecture of New Amsterdam) made up of solid materials to balance the thin delegate look of the outside skeleton. Shipping container siding directly calls out the historic shipyard past of the Borneo Sporenburg district. From ground level to park level, a bike/walking ramp invites pedestrians from the busy street to the calm park. Connecting the lively active new Amsterdam culture with the Maggie center.

iio Inviting Inside Out Design Lab
Inviting Inside Out Design Lab Tulsa Oklahoma 2021 awarded second place overall. A studio three final project that focused on designing a space meant for creativity and collaboration. Titled “Inviting Inside Out”, I was
inspired by the Mummers Theater, a well-known local building now demolished. A truly “inside out” building, its concept is the basis from the “Idea Creation” theme for which my design is centered.
Concept The thought process of one’s mind begins with an idea extending an invitation to explore. Upon entry patrons feel free from direction and order, though the outstretched arms of the building
provide guidance throughout their visit. Universal spaces allow users to determine their own path. These spaces are pure forms from which their function can be derived separately and individually.
Exploded Axonometric Unknowingly and unavoidably, the creative atmosphere of the given framework initiates a design process within one’s mind, allowing it to roam freely. Freed by the porous upper space frame, and connected through a midlevel mezzanine, collaboration becomes unavoidable within the open studios, critique spaces, classrooms, and galleries. The program of the building reflects the design process: connection, collaboration, and free will.
Temporary and Portable Worship Space
Temporary and Portable First Baptist Assembly of God Outdoor Worship Center With the onslaught of the pandemic our studio three project was to solve a newfound need for temporary outdoor spaces. My research began with a study
of “the oldest forms of architecture” and geometry. By relating these concepts through use of tensile structures, a space capable of holding large volumes of people, individually separated but without feelings of isolation, is achieved.
Swing On a triangular grid, stations are spaced out for people to occupy a safe distance apart. A tent-like canopy structure provides shade for assembly below. Swings may be moved or altered to fit various group
sizes or functions. Tensile fabric unrolls from the top of the swing as a backdrop for the chair and provides privacy from the parking area. This flexible solution allows for assorted group settings and sizes.
Swing Assembly Designed to be easily assembled, the swing’s parts all come from catalogs of local stores.

The Study of Profane Remarks on School Desks Based on Location An emphasis of Studio four is observation and detail. I chose to study the desecration of University Library school desks and observe how the level of damage fluctuates based on privacy and location. The types of graffiti on a specific desk in the basement of the
Edmon Low Library were collected and logged for analysis. Results found that the quantity of inscriptions increased and with more profane messages, the more remote the desk was located. To document and present my findings in a professional manner, the most profane remarks were hidden beneath pull tabs for discrete viewer interaction
(an option the desk does not present). A full booklet compiled all graffiti of various materials, media, and carvings from desk 17 giving empowerment to these remarks. An OSU watermark applied to the project deliverables gives an official seal of validity that these anonymous voices were heard.

Guthrie Oklahoma Visitor Center
Different Scales of Interaction Walls of interaction are what relate the building, the patron, and the community of Guthrie, Oklahoma in this design. A digital wall allows a visitor to experience the town’s history, current events, and future with focused content. Styling the prop walls of the facade walls
to harmonize with the Dutch vernacular of the downtown provides a physical connection to the past. Finally, relating directly to the town’s proud cinematic history, a zoetrope wall provides visitor interaction with both art and imagination through the community’s heritage.
Walls of Synergy Full scale walls of digital information supplying informative and interactive content provides education to visitors about the evolution of Guthrie. Prop walls designed to emulate the heritage of the
city’s founding fathers provide a physical glimpse to the past. Motion is simulated through the zoetrope wall giving visitors a ballistic experience through the activity of their own actions.
Community Expression A center stage, circled by a viewing audience, is the heart of interaction within the space. The digital and prop walls surround this area of focus as the community center.

Parking Day 2021 Parking day is a global, public, participatory art project. People around the world temporarily re purpose individual parking spots into mini parks. My idea replaces the 9’ x 19’ asphalt ground with a campsite and tipi for fellowship to honor and respect our earth.
Commissioned Model for the Margaret Harwell Art Museum As an architecture intern I constructed this 4’x4’ model at a scale of quarter inch per foot. An art museum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri is currently using the display to help raise funds for its expansion. The Ozark Foothills region where it is located provided design inspiration.
Section Model for Studio Two Award Winning Chapel Project Designed to highlight the site and different levels of the chapel, this section model highlights the main programmatic elements of the project.
Apparel Design As Apparel Chairman for my fraternity, I created all graphic design artwork and organized the printing, sale, and delivery of all apparel for several dozen events over a three year period.
Oklahoma State University Homecoming 2021
Deck Design 2021 Oklahoma State University Homecoming was the 100th in its history. As the Creative Director for my fraternity, I organized and led a team of 120 students over a three month span in the creation
of our “Deck”, a large 18’x70’ display wall competition entry viewed by over 100,000 visitors. With a budget of $25,000, we welded a steel frame and attached three dimensional wall panels with motorized moving parts and clad
with tissue “pomp” paper inserted into wire mesh.
Competition Designs Other homecoming competitions included Sign Design and a Harvest Carnival event. My original sign sketches are to the right which were the precursor to our second place (of over 50) finish. The Harvest Carnival is an annual event involving local elementary schools. I created an educational game for kids to look through small telescopes and see constellations which were displayed on the interior ceiling of a tent observatory we constructed. The entry took second place overall.
End Late nights in studio, grueling critique sessions, and friendships from fellow students have all helped mold my ever changing view of the built environment. Whether the focus is on progressive design, inclusion, or historic preservation, I value each project as a new opportunity to find creative solutions.
