Background

MJ Toolmakers wanted to reduce energy costs, as the family firm uses a host of electrical equipment at its factory, including sparkers, lathes, milling machines and drilling machines.

The business owns three of the units in the building, the others rented out, and SNRG’s solution was to cover all of them.

Solution

SNRG is funding, installing and operating 90.1kW of solar across 212 panels, with 23.2 kWh of battery storage and three inverters completing the SmartGrid system.

Over the course of the 25-year project, SNRG will work with MJ Toolmakers to increase the amount of renewable energy generated and utilised.

Results

The three business units owned have been covered in solar panels and connected to a battery, with excess electricity generated being returned to the grid.

This SmartGrid solution is estimated to save MJ Toolmakers up to 25% a year in energy costs, and avoid 18 tons of CO2 emissions per year through decarbonising the manufacturing process.
