DONALDSON GROUP

The UK’s leading specialists in sustainable construction timber systems, The Donaldson Group, has partnered with SNRG to decarbonise operations at four of its factories. The first site to have rooftop solar panels installed was at Cramlington, in Northumberland.

Background

Donaldson has over 40 operational sites based in the UK and has set ambitious public targets to reduce the carbon footprint of its real estate holdings, including manufacturing facilities, distribution centres, and administrative offices.

SNRG has partnered with Donaldson to provide solar at three factories in Scotland and one in England; at Donaldson Timber Engineering in Buckhaven and Cramlington, Donaldson Door Systems at Plains, and James Donaldson Timber in Leven.

As the timber industry is carbon-intensive, The Donaldson Group partnered with SNRG in order to meet its own Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals.

Solution

SNRG has installed 116kWp of solar to the roof of the Cramlington factory.

The fully-funded project includes four EV chargers here and at each of the Scottish sites.

Results

In year one alone, it is estimated that energy savings at Cramlington could be more than £7,000.

Over the course of the lifetime of the SNRG PPA, which funds the solar, it is estimated that 257 tonnes of CO2 could be avoided.
