From Year 4 (age 8), Handcross Park offers a family-style boarding experience for either full, weekly or flexi-boarders (2 consecutive nights a week). a large sitting room with a television, DVDs, games cupboard and a library. All children in the Handcross Park Boarding House are encouraged to develop responsibility for themselves and others. Our boarders learn respect and consideration towards the immediate and wider community in which they live. We are so proud of the lifelong friendships that are established and treasured within the Boarding House at Handcross Park.
The boys and girls each have separate floors in the Boarding House. Bedrooms are individually and brightly decorated, allowing the children to personalise their space to make them feel more at home. There is also

Wonderful Weekends
Once our weekly and flexi-boarder friends leave for the weekend, our full boarders start their extensive programme of events and outings. Our boarders have the opportunity to visit places such as; The Tower of London, Greenwich, Stonehenge, the South Downs Planetarium, Thorpe Park, Windsor Castle and Oxford. More local outings may include trips to the cinema, the bowling alley, the beach or shopping in Brighton.
on leadership and presentation skills. This is carried out over a number of weekends and has proven to be successful in helping the children prepare for their senior school interviews. Boarders also have a chance to catch up with homework, practice their musical instruments as well as relax at home in the Boarding House and make full use of our fantastic facilities and beautiful school grounds.
We also have a bespoke boarders’ Leadership Programme. This is provided by a company called ‘Role Models’. The boarders receive one-to-one coaching

Care
around the clock
Our beautiful Boarding House is run by our Boarding House Parents. They are supported by a live-in Matron and a number of House Tutors, who are also subject and class teachers. The Boarding House has a real sense of community. Children are supported both emotionally and educationally by staff who are able to really get to know them. There is always someone on hand to ensure your child is cared for and nurtured.
time spent within the Boarding community. We offer activities for pupils which stretch and challenge their academic life and which enhance the extra-curricular. During the evenings, boarders are able to spend time together with their friends and take part in activities such as Pottery, Art, Drama, Swimming, Golf or Matron’s hugely popular Hot Chocolate Club.
Meal times, as with any home, are an important part of daily life. Breakfast starts the day with either a cooked or continental option. In the evenings, the boarders come together, family style, around large tables and are served a hot, home-cooked meal.
Boarders have frequent and easy contact with their parents and guardians. There are allocated times for this in the evenings, throughout the weekend and, for overseas boarders, during the school day to take into consideration different time zones. The Boarding House has a telephone and Skype pods for this purpose.
After supper and completing prep, there is a full programme of activities which balance relaxation and

Boarders’ Bus
We have a comprehensive bus service that picks up pupils from Sussex, Surrey and London. Our London service collects pupils from a number of points across the capital (based on demand). The bus picks up on a Monday morning and returns on a Friday evening, allowing our weekly boarders to spend quality time at home with their families.
For our international pupils, we do all we can to help with logistical arrangements. This includes: liaising with guardianship companies, arranging transfers to the airport and, of course, accompanying children to medical appointments or senior school assessments. It is a legal requirement that all overseas pupils use the service of a guardian in the UK.
Put your child on the bus on a Monday morning and get them back on Friday evening, homework done, no Saturday School, no sporting fixtures to worry about Tatler Schools Guide
