semester 02/03/04/05/08 physical model making is an architectural communication throughout the design process from interior spatial organization to external siting to materials used, before construction begins. this allows client to fully understand and visualise the design concept and layout. physical models enable architects to study the relationship between the proposed design and its context, fostering a more holistic approach.

MODEL MAKING

physical model 1st row (from left to right) Design Exploration 02 - Terrestrial (1:200) Terrestrial is a design exploration of space & ergonomics that are to scale of 1:200.

The design is derived from the movement of a jellyfish and are sculptered carefully using coloured cardboard paper of 200gsm. Material and the language of design are the impretation of thorough research from the movement of jellyfish. light & organic.

Precedent Study 04 - Dressing Room, São Paulo, Brazil (1:200) The services pavilion, located in the rural area of the São Paulo state interior, seeks to be a shelter for the orange harvest workers. Its program accommodates the dressing room and kitchen, with a table for meals, besides to serve as a space where workers find a retreat to rest, relax and unwind. The physical model of the precedent study is made out of modelling board and wooden sticks.

2nd row (from left to right) Ornitologist Santuary 03 - Ikigai (1:25) The design is derived from the undulating flight of a Goldfinch Bird. The analysis is studied thorougly to design a santuary to cater for ornitologists. Hence, the model is portrayed with repetitive and linear design principles. The material used for the physical model is balsa wood and modelling board.

Sectional Perspective of Braille Cafe 05 Kafe Gelap (1:50) This braille cafe is designed specially for the impaired to commemorate behind the art of iron engraving through the senses of touch. The form is the extrusion of blocks and grid organization which are manipulated for an aerodynamic shape for the integration of function. The physical model is made out of modelling board and wooden sticks to show the sectional perspective of the cafe.

so-so pop culture hub So-so Pop Culture Hub is derived from the concept of ‘pleats’, heavily inspired by Issey Miyake’s fashion design, iconic for his ‘pleats, please’ collection.

The whole building concept is the combination of fashion and architecture where both principle works closely together. With its concept of clothes combine with functionality, the building design carries the organic, flowy and repetitive pleats design principles.

The culture hub is designed for its functinality as an event space for the community in Malaysia.

Physical Model (1:250) The physical model is made to scale of 1:250 using corrugated paper to create the pleated facade. The body of the building is made out of PVC using 3D model maker to create the organic shape of the building structure and integrit integrity.

NADA TSUMA is an alternative rock band based in Rawang, established during the pandemic in 2020. they have put out many tracks and performed for gigs locally whilst working on their album. available to listen on spotify or follow their instagram to catch their latest update. most artworks such as cover arts, illustrations, animation and merchandise are made by yours truly.

so-so is a sustainable fashion brand where it marries the idea of traditional japanese clothing style with nusantara elements; bringing forth a new sense of modern fashion. the name “so-so” itself carries the meaning of in between or mediocre, deriving from the malay word sederhana. We seek to find balance in everyday and traditional wear that is versatile to be worn anywhere at anytime. sustainable fashion promotes the use of environmentally friendly materials such as organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, and recycled fabrics. these materials reduce the ecological footprint of clothing production by minimizing the use of pesticides, chemicals, and water.

so-so is heavily influenced by iconic role models in architecture and fashion. the role models are Tadao Ando & Kengo Kuma who are well known in the architecture field as well as Vivienne Westwood & Yohji Yamamoto with their iconic fashion pieces. these role models have not only shaped the fields of architecture and fashion with their creativity and innovation but have also left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire current and future generations. sustainable fashion represents a shift towards more responsible and conscious practices within the fashion industry, recognizing the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic factors.
