The purpose of Assignment 1 is to focus on the development of a particular position towards a chosen interest in context of the site. Assignment 1 implores the student to select one central theme for their projects which are: Imaginings (unbuilt, speculative), Tectonics (semiotics, structuralism), Collage (deconstruction), Poetics (phenomenology, experiential) stru and Liminality (transitions, uidity, conscious/unconscious, the in between)

Introduction to the topic With the interest to the current pandemic or endemic, as we speak, some events and observations had led me to think of the possibilites in the nature of this new virus, Covid-19, to spark and mutate into an uncontrollable state. Based on true events that took place out of the country, I took into account two things: the state of the country and how human behaviour had affected them in desperate times. It really questions the benevolence. Therefore, I had an outlook of the future of these trying times in a exaggerated setting to ponder upon. A is

Architecture setting.
The divided social class system among the poor and wealthy, with a government that is only willing to protect those who could pay the cost. A discriminated alliance against the less fortunate and marginalized communities when resources such as oxygen tanks become scarce and limited. Could interior design/architecture be intergrated in this situation? How would it look like? Would It be able to help the less fortunate? Or could it help us all as a whole in future built environments so, a possiblity of a dystopian future be avoided and protect us for the better against the real silent enemy, such as a deadly virus.
A series of drawings A series of drawings were made in the first half of the assignment. These drawings describe the liminality between social classes and political systems. What is liminality according to Victor Turner? Liminalty, in terms of social structure and time, is an intermediate state of being “in between” in which individuals are striped from their usual identity and their constituting social differences while being on the verge of personal or social transformation. These abstract drawings depict the social systems within my narrative that describes the earlier scenario of a dystopian like setting.

The application of theory towards experiential journey is developed through exploratory drawings seen through the lens of cinematic compositions (Nosferatu, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Wes Anderson, etc). It is developed in several angles and possibilities to rigorously question its impact on occupants through a playful take on scale, intimacy, immensity, absurdity, politics, behavior, habits, futurism, speculation, divergences, peculiarities, and this will be reeected in the mannerism of materiality, scale and design expression played out in the development.

Assignment 3 is the nal alchemy of all that you have developed from Phase 1 & 2 and is the culmination of the project that seeks to converge spatial principles, embodying the theory through exploratory design drawings. The range of the project is dependent on you and could have a vast assortment of possibilities in relation to exploratory drawings. The drawings should reeect on the themes you have chosen in Phase 1. The designs can range from a multitude of design expressions, and these expressions can be inspired from but not limited to the whimsical, social, economical, speculative, political and poetic. All designed intentions should be intimately related to the context of the site.
pandora A description of Pandora Pandora, is the heart and core of the environmental system and is filled with nature. Hues of green of leaves and participating activities that invites patrons to do gardening. This is a pivotal aspect in O2 as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is proven to be the cause of physical fatigue after treatment as the pressurized chambers would put the human cells and organs to work during the process.
Theories applied in Pandora Paced Breathing With this theory, it is understood that cognitive behaviour is affected in a positive manner, when mental fatigue in the mind, comes across the sight of nature. Similar to the nature of the fictional story created of O2, is the existence of Pandora.
A study shows that climbing is subjected to a few factors that determine its level of difficulty. These factors would include inclination, pace of climber’s breathing, their body mass and shape and number of holds they could achieve in their climb. However, the highlight of this study asserts that inclination would be the main variable that dictates the physiological response it has on humans. (J. Baláš, M. Panáčková, B. Strejcová, A. J. Martin, D. J. Cochrane, M. Kaláb, et al., 2014)
Attention Restoration Theory We can call them Climbing Gardeners. As patrons can train in an activity that challenges their stamina and endurance, it would be met with gardening. as an option. It promotes a sport while being connected with nature. And as the theory suggests, improve our concentration and mental focus while working. Pandora is indoor, set with a minimum of 60 feet, of a rock climbing wall with soil “pots” located through the journey, as if being in the outdoors.
Sensory Experience Through Pandora Sight - The greeneries met as they climb vertically, or plant. Smell - Soil and flora would emit scents. Touch - Physical endurance and strength is needed to climb the wall.
REFLECTIONS: through phases PHASE 01: DESCRY
Throughout the rst assignment, a lot of questions arised. Never have we ever done before our own themes and narratives and it left me in confusion. No doubt I was looking forward into my nal year with the stories of my seniors telling me that “we get to design whatever we want”, but when the time nally came, I was out of breath. It was quite the challenge creating a brief that could either be bursting with opportunities or a imsy foundation that would crumble within weeks. As we were constantly reminded to choose a topic that would be in our interest for a year, I chose one that was felt by many and to myself, COVID-19, with a twist of my own imagination. With the encouragment of my lecturers and some research, I was conndent with this topic proposal and proceeded. I had enjoyed this stage of the subject as it has never been done before.
PHASE 02: ENACT It started to be a little clearer having a foundation to land on. As how we were taught to proceed with our design intention with a programming, thats how it went. This stage felt more familiar, like all the programmings I had done in diploma and degree but it did come with its challenges. For instance, creating ideas of a program but with the research that comes along with Design Proposition, it felt like I was failing at each new experience I tried to create. This is due to the nature of the research that goes back to solid facts. I was stuck between practicality and conceptuals at times but eventually, I got there. The workshops that the lecturers had prepared, together with their lectures made it easier at times to “decipher” this phase of the pr project. All in all, for the two phases that had passed, yet still many questions had arised, even with the sensitivity of my topic of a pandemic, I had feel like I had created more problems than before and it had slowed down my train of thoughts. With the duration that was limited, I had to pick up the pace and proceed with the ndings and design I had. It was satisfactory, although we nd ourselves ghting against the time as each semester is but thats the challenge every designer must face even in the working world, that I know of.
PHASE 03: ALCHEMY in phase 03, producing the 3Ds to bring our ideas to life will always be one of the most exciting stages, but it also depends on the skill that comes along building it. As I chose an activity I had came up with in Pandora the challenges I would say were manageable despite the obstacles faced. After each crit, as hard as it was at times not having sufficient work to have substantial feedback, I worked as much as I could to make sure I received what I needed. After each crit session, it made me improve my ways of my ideas and solved more and more of the problems that arised earlier. The constructive feedbacks by my lecturers and an external during

The constructive feedbacks by my lecturers and an external during presentation day proves that I indeed have much to improve on with the potentials of my pr narrative and site context. I wish to further enhance these design detail and elements in my upcoming semester to produce a work I would be proud to present in my nal year exhibition.
