You all play an important role in the 155-year history of this great institution and there is no more appropriate way to celebrate the traditions instilled, the memories held, and the connections made during your time at Hampton University. I offer a special greetings to the members of the Emeritus Class that return to celebrate with us annually and a cheerful congratulations to the members of the Golden Class of 1973 on commemorating your 50th Anniversary milestone with us.

This Reunion, you will celebrate with all of the familiar faces you have missed over the years, renew friendships, reminisce about days gone by, and share in life experiences, both past and present. More importantly, however, Reunion will allow us to reflect on Hampton’s impact on our lives and reinforce our awesome responsibility as members of the Hampton Alumni Family- to give back. So, this Reunion, please join me in renewing your commitment and support for Hampton by not only being present, but by giving a stretch gift above your annual contribution during this important campaign year. If you have made your Reunion contribution, thank you for your immeasurable support, and continue to challenge your classmates towards reaching your class goal. It is this sense of school spirit and pride that has elevated Hampton to its current place among the best colleges and universities in the nation, and it is our continual drive towards excellence that will carry our legacy far into the future.

WEEKEND at a Glance
FRIDAY, MAY 12, 2023
Museum Tour 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Opening the Vault: A Look into the Hampton University Museum Collections
When an institution has the opportunity to open their art storage or the Vault, what a wonderful chance to select art that has not been viewed by the public in a while or never. To open the vault provides an opportunity for the Curators and the Director to select a piece of art that may be their favorite or better yet tells the story of Hampton and its collection.
View the companion exhibition, Woosah featuring abstract works by artists in Hampton’s collection as well as Jacob Lawrence, The Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman Series, 1938-1940 in the new addition gallery. The two historical sequences present the dramatic biographies of these two American abolitionists who lived around the time of the Civil War. Taken together, the paintings have an extraordinary conceptual unity and visual eloquence, and although completed very early in Lawrence’s career, these two series embody some of the artist’s strongest work.
Also view our latest acquisition, Full Circle, by Preston Sampson. This piece is on display in the new wing was commissioned for the Inauguration of our 13th President and First Lady, Darrell K. and Myra R. Williams.

Giving to HAMPTON
The Alumni Campaign for Hampton:
Hampton continues to Elevate Hampton’s Excellence by launching its Strategic Plan and exciting outlook on Hampton’s key priorities as we move into the next iteration of the Hampton University we all know and love. As a part of this bold move, Hampton alumni have been asked to provide critical support for student scholarships. This campaign gives alumni the opportunity to help secure the legacy, one student at a time.
Your Reunion Class Gift:
As you celebrate your reunion year, giving a gift to your alma mater signifies your commitment to the sustainability of Hampton and strengthens your class legacy. The following information may help you decide how to support the University during this special anniversary year.
• All gifts, pledges, planned gifts and corporate matching gifts will count towards the Alumni Campaign for Hampton.
• Each class has an established giving goal for its reunion gift, both percent participation and total dollars raised, and often sets out to achieve new University records.
• Unrestricted gifts are especially important because they provide immediate support for University priorities.
• Restricted gifts to interests, such as the Divine Nine Greek Plaza, will count toward your Reunion Class Gift.
• All gifts, pledges, planned gifts, and corporate matching gifts received between July 1, 2022 and May 12, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. will be reported during the Class Gift presentation at the Reunion Celebration Gala.
• All gifts, pledges, planned gifts, and corporate matching gifts received between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 will be reported in your annual class giving totals for the full Reunion Year giving to Hampton.
