The Final Word: Summer House’s OG, Carl Radke
By Joseph Palmisano
No one is more Hamptons than Carl Radke, the OG of Bravo TV’s HIT reality show Summer House. Carl has been there from the jump, seven years as an original cast member. Carl sat down with us to talk about Summer House, life, his road to recovery, and the love of his life and fellow castmate, Lindsay Hubbard.
Q: How is Carl doing?
A: At 38, I’m getting older, wiser, calmer, healthier, as well as growing and learning from how I see myself on TV.
Q: Take us down your road to recovery.
A: Being able to watch myself and actions on TV has given me a window into myself and life. I got to see first-hand who I really was. 2020 was a turning point for me. Because of the pandemic, like everyone else, I had time on my hands. I just finished a Tony Robbins seminar in Florida, and I was attempting to get on the right track. When in August of 2020 my older brother Curtis passed away. I was devastated, but I knew I had to do something for my betterment.
In January of 2021
I sought out help for my addictions.
The help I received is immeasurable. I take it one day at a time and count being sober as one of the greatest gifts I ever gave myself.
Q: What are some strategies you used in developing Carl 2.0?
A: I’m Carl 7.0 Promax now. I’ve come to embrace each day as a new day. I’ve developed a daily routine of making my bed, working out-be it walking, running, or going to the gym, getting outside for a breath of fresh air, meditate, do things that I enjoy, and surround myself with people who want the best for me.
Q: What was the moment that you went from BFF to fiancé with Lindsay?
A: We met in 2016 and became friends. As they say, timing is everything. It took time for that right moment to happen. That time was the Summer House prom party where Lindsay slipped a note under my bedroom door asking me restaurants, and making friends in the Hamptons who live in NYC. to go to prom with her.
Q: What is your Hamptons style?
A: White pants/jeans, loafers, and a short sleeve button down or polo shirt. Also, the Carl Radke uniform which consists of a navy blue polo shirt with white jeans. I don’t subscribe to not wearing white after Labor Day. White is a Hamptons staple. Now, if I’m not going out and I’m lounging around, I like to wear a tank top, swim trunks, and sandals. Of course, a good tan is a must.

Q: What does Carl Radke keep in his bedroom?

A: There’s a cornucopia of items. I have a sound machine, TV, some watches, sunglasses, books, art, a work setup, ring light, plants, and pictures of Lindsay.
Q: What’s your sleep attire?
A: Just underwear.
Q: What’s on your dresser?
Q: How have you grown from when Summer House first came on the air?
A: I’ve been more open as the years went on and I’ve matured.
Q: What are your most memorable and cringe worthy moments on Summer House?
A: Cringeworthy was when the pool was filled with tea, à la Boston Tea Party, for one of Kyle’s amazing birthday parties. The tea stained the pool and damaged the equipment. The most memorable was Lindsay’s fantasy birthday party. Cool theme and awesome costumes.
Q: What’s the most fun thing about the Hamptons?
A: I love the beaches,
A: Trucker hats, cologne, candles, and a cardboard cutout of Lindsay that was given to me by Andy Cohen when I was on his show, Watch What Happens Live-WWHL.
Q: Your mom Sharon is awesome! What would she be surprised to find in your bedroom?
A: Snack food. I love to snack!
Q: Tagline?
A: Less stress, more life.
As we wrapped up the interview, Carl wanted to take this time to thank the people of NYC, Long Island, and the Hamptons for welcoming the show and himself into their communities. “We appreciate everyone supporting us and watching the show.”
“Thank you for this amazing opportunity.”
