Yachties Kasey Cohen All aboard who’s coming aboard!
By Maureen Patricia
Meet Kasey Cohen. One of the stars of Bravo TV’s HIT shows, Below Deck. Kasey was on season 3 of Below Deck Mediterranean with Captain Sandy Yawn at the helm. Originally from Oceanside, NY, Kasey has been on and around the water practically her entire life. While on land, Hamptons Storyboard spoke with Kasey to get the deets on all that she’s been up to.
Q: How did you get cast on Below Deck?
A: I saw a casting call for it and I applied.
Q: What was the experience like being on Below Deck?
A: It was a very tough job but a very rewarding experience; waking up to different, beautiful sceneries in exotic places.
Q: Walk us through a day in the life of a yachtie.
A: Depending on your position and your rank, your day can be pretty different! Being a third stew, my day would start by waking up between 5-6 AM, I’d get ready, eat a quick breakfast and then begin my duties. I’d start off by juicing oranges for freshly squeezed juice, I’d then make a table scape, set the outdoor table and prepare for breakfast while watching the sunrise. I’d then restock any items that were needed, vacuum, dust, and polish around the yacht until the guest(s) woke up. Afterwards, I’d make them coffee or morning cocktails until breakfast service was ready to begin. While breakfast service was going on, I’d be down in the cabins tidying up. Once that was done, I’d see if my assistance was needed with breakfast service, and if not, I’d start cleaning the pantry and the aftermath of breakfast service. Next, if there was no excursion to go on, I’d tend to the guests, restock anything that was needed, and head into the laundry to wash, dry, fold, hang or iron clothes. There is always something to do in yachting, always! At some point I’d have an hour or two break, and then I’d help set up for dinner service. Once dinner service began, I’d start turndown service in the cabins and then see if my help was needed for dinner service. If not, I’d go back to my normal cleaning, restocking or laundry duties. When all is said and done, I’d eat dinner, get ready for bed, quickly catch up with my friends and family and then go to sleep. similar, if not the same, caliber of that overseas. living on Long Island?
Q: What other Bravo show(s) would you like to be on?
A: I think it would be fun to be on either Vanderpump Rules, Summer House or The Real Housewives.
Q: What are you up to today?
A: These days I’m working, modeling, and being an influencer.
Q: What brands are you working with/sponsorship?
A: I really love the atmosphere, the lifestyle, and the people. I was fortunate to grow up on the water and have a lifestyle that was laid back, calming and close enough to fast-paced NYC to take advantage of the excitement and culture that this area has to offer.
Q: Favorite Long Island beach?
A: We are so lucky because Long Island has lots of beautiful beaches, but the beaches in the Hamptons are unmatched. They are well known for being at the top of the list of the best beaches in the world.
Q: One word that describes the Hamptons for you.
A: Picking one word is difficult but I’d have to say it’s a mix of luxury, upscale, and relaxing.
Q: What do you love about the east end?
A: I love all the restaurants and shops and how it gives you somewhat of a small town city vibe.
Q: Favorite restaurant on Long Island and NYC?
A: On Long Island it’s Nick & Tony’s in East Hampton, in NYC it’s Cipriani-Downtown.
Q: Favorite thing to do in the Hamptons?
A: Lounging on the beach and white parties.
Q: Favorite summer food?
A: Salted watermelon! If there is ever a watermelon shortage at the supermarket, I would be to blame.
Q: What advice did Captain Sandy give you that you took to heart?
Q: Why do you think so many yachties, on Below Deck, come from Long lsland?
A: I think so many of us yachties, from Below Deck, come from Long Island because Long Island is very big in the yachting industry, especially in the Hamptons. There’s a level of expectation when it comes to the sophistication and luxury aspects of yachting in the Hamptons, which is at a
A: I have the pleasure of working with Shein, Teami, Supermodels Unlimited Magazine, and Jus10H (Justin Haynes) consistently.
Q: Dream job?
A: My dream job, ever since I was a kid, is to be an actress. I’ve always loved the idea of creating art in performance and evoking emotion out of people to make them feel connected and alive.
Q: What do you love about
A: Captain Sandy’s experience saw value in my ability and made sure to give me the opportunity to excel in my job. One piece of advice that stuck with me was that “You have the capability even if you didn’t have the experience.”
Q: How can we find, follow, and keep up with all things Kasey Cohen?
A: You can follow and keep up with me on all socials as @KaseyLCohen
