a World of Pure Imagination
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory brought magic and mayhem as pupils from Hampton and Hampton High joined forces for a spectacular production.
Packed with memorable performances, colourful characters and ingenious staging, the Hammond Theatre was transformed into Willy Wonka’s fantastical chocolate empire complete with a chocolate river, the Great Glass Elevator and irrepressible Oompa Loompas. With its exuberant humour and technical flair, the production proved a sell-out triumph.
INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OFFERS
Sixth Formers are celebrating a range of international university offers.
Six Hamptonians will continue their studies across the Pond, including Max Carter at the US Naval Academy, Zaidan Amiji at Dartmouth, and Noel Yonas at Indiana University.
Junior World Rowing Champion
Harry Bernard OH (2025) and First VIII crew member Monty Hunt will continue their rowing careers at Ivy League universities, Cornell and Brown respectively.
Elsewhere, Mark Voros will attend the University of Chicago while, staying closer to home, Alex Nelson heads to Stockholm School of Economics.
GREENPOWER
Budding engineers took to the racetrack to test their electric kit car.
Lower Sixth Formers have spent the past year building and refining a kit car as part of the national Greenpower project, which encourages pupils across the UK to design and build with sustainability in mind. Racing against other schools and universities on the Goodwood and Castle Combe circuits was a highlight of the project.
SCHOOL CAPTAINS
INSPECTION REPORT
Hampton received an excellent report following its latest inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
Inspectors judged that Hampton meets every standard required and praised the School as an environment in which pupils thrive and flourish.
They also awarded the School a rare ‘Significant Strength’ accolade, commending the co-curricular programme for its highly positive and beneficial impact on all aspects of pupils’ wellbeing.
The School Captains Team for the 2026-27 academic year has been named.
Congratulations to Cyril, Joshua, Nathaniel, JR, Will and Arun. Along with the Prefects and Mentors, the School Captains act as ambassadors for the School and serve as role models, offering advice and support to younger Hamptonians.

TALK! PROJECT EXPLORE
Talk! guest, journalist Fraser Nelson, offered his insight into the rapidly changing dynamics currently shaping UK and international affairs.
Observing that history is being made week by week, The Times columnist warned that long-standing geopolitical norms are being fundamentally challenged both at home and abroad.
First Years produced an impressive range of creative entries inspired by art, history and local heritage.
A model of the Crystal Grotto at Painshill, a music composition inspired by a work of art, and a project on Richmond Hill were highly commended. The winning entry was a cardboard sculpture of HMS Sovereign, inspired by a visit to the Royal Museums Greenwich.
A FOND FAREWELL
We bid a fond farewell to four members of the Common Room who together have given 90 years of service to the School.
Biology teacher Mr Richard Davieson, begins his well-earned retirement after a remarkable 34 Hampton years. Mrs Dorothy Jones, Head of Admissions and Marketing, also retires after 19 years expertly guiding Hampton families through our admissions process.
Renowned mathematician Mr Daniel Griller departs after 14 years, and Head of French Mr Marc Boardman moves to Brighton College after a total of 12 years.
We wish them all the very best for the next chapter.
CLASS OF 2026
To celebrate the close of their Hampton years, Upper Sixth pupils enjoyed a range of Leavers’ events.
Paintballing, a celebration evening and a 5-a-side football tournament on the School fields, complete with hot dogs and ice creams, allowed Hamptonians to enjoy their final weeks, complete their Leavers’ books, and bid a fond farewell to classmates and teachers.

DORSET ADVENTURE
First Year Hamptonians swapped the classroom for adventure during an action-packed weekend in Dorset.
From a night hike around Corfe Castle to canoeing across to Brownsea Island, pupils embraced every opportunity, challenging themselves and working together. The weekend ended in suitably muddy fashion at Dorset Adventure Park.
SICILY
From Greek temples and Roman mosaics to volcanic landscapes, Sicily provided the perfect classroom for Hampton’s Classicists.
Pupils explored renowned sites including Syracuse, Taormina and the Valley of the Temples, deepening their understanding of the ancient world. A visit to Mount Etna, topped with snow, offered a striking contrast, while time in local historic towns brought the island’s rich heritage to life.
RONDA
Continuing a 35 year Hampton tradition, Fourth Year Hamptonians travelled to the beautiful Andalusian town of Ronda.
Attending conversational Spanish lessons with local pupils, they developed their confidence and fluency. Beyond the classroom, they explored historic landmarks, sampled regional cuisine and enjoyed visits to Malaga and the surrounding countryside.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award continues to thrive, with more than 300 pupils taking part each year.
This year, Hamptonians completed Silver and Gold expeditions across Snowdonia, the New Forest and Dorset, showing excellent resilience, teamwork and determination. Particular congratulations go to Monty, Aran and Tom, who recently received their Gold Awards at Buckingham Palace – a superb achievement.
NICE
The sunshine of the French Riviera provided the backdrop for an unforgettable trip to Nice for Sixth Form Francophiles.
Mornings were spent honing language skills at a local language school, while afternoons featured visits to Nice, Monaco and Cannes. Staying with host families gave pupils the opportunity to practise their language skills while experiencing the region’s culture, cuisine and traditions firsthand.
JUNIOR SCHOOLS’ MUSIC WORKSHOP
The Hammond Theatre was alive with music as Hampton welcomed more than 100 young musicians from 31 partner schools for a day of workshops.
Led by the Music department, pupils took part in masterclasses before a concert featuring music from Matilda, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and the Match of the Day theme.
LEAVERS’ CONCERT
Family, friends and staff gathered in the Hammond Theatre for a concert celebrating the Class of 2026.
Upper Sixth musicians showcased their talents in an eclectic programme spanning Green Day, Dvořák, Rachmaninov and The Mamas and The Papas. From vocal performances to original compositions, ensembles and instrumental solos, it was wonderful to celebrate our senior musicians.
BRASS CONCERT
With classical masterpieces and film favourites, the annual Brass Concert offered an evening of exceptional music-making in the Hammond Theatre.
Pupils impressed audiences with a varied programme featuring solo performances, chamber ensembles and the Brass Band.
SUMMER ROCK CONCERT
Hampton’s Summer Rock Concert struck all the right notes as young musicians delivered an evening of high-octane performances.
Music from The Killers, Stevie Wonder and Imagine Dragons had audiences jumping to their feet, while bands and soloists impressed with their confidence and musicianship.
BEST MALE SOLO ARTIST
Plaudits to Fifth Year Devan on winning ‘Best Male Musical Solo’ at the 2026 National School Theatre Awards.
Recognised for his powerful performance of Empty Chairs and Empty Tables as Marius in this year’s joint Hampton and LEH production of Les Misérables, this outstanding accolade is a fitting tribute to a production that captivated audiences and showcased the talent and dedication of all involved.

ATHLETICS
Three Hampton athletes have reached the English Schools’ Track and Field Championships.
Lower Sixth Marcus and Fifth Year Joe will compete in the 1500m sprint and 110m hurdles respectively. Fourth Year Luke will race in the Intermediate 100m hurdles. This is the culmination of an excellent athletics season with strong performances across the year groups.
CRICKET
Blue summer skies heralded the sound of leather on willow on the Hampton playing fields.
TENNIS
Our tennis players have been on fine form this term.
In the Independent Schools League Weekends, our U14–U16 team bounced back from third place on weekend one to claim victory on the second weekend. The U18s reached the final of the Surrey Festival and our U13s the Surrey League Finals. Well done to the U12 teams on their first season of Hampton tennis.
Our young players are in excellent form. The U12s reached the final of the Middlesex Cup, while the U13As are aiming to retain the national English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) title for a second consecutive year.
We wish them the very best in their final against Manchester Grammar School.
ROWING
Hours of dedication and hard work have resulted in a superb season for the Hampton Boat Club.
The National Schools’ Regatta culminated in a 36-medal haul, with our senior boat chalking up the quickest ever time for a Hampton Eight.
All eyes are now on Henley Royal Regatta where our First Eight will compete in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup.
ENGLAND CALL-UPS
Congratulations to alumni Josh King OH (2025) and Naavya Sharma OH (2024).
Fulham FC attacking midfielder Josh was one of three young players invited by England Head Coach Thomas Tuchel to join the senior squad’s World Cup preparations in the USA. Middlesex pace bowler Naavya was selected for the England Lions squad for two four-day matches against South Africa.
FOOTBALL GLORY
HISTORY MAKERS
For the first time in Hampton’s history, three teams made it through to their respective English Schools’ FA (ESFA) finals – the pinnacle of schools’ football.
A whole-School occasion saw a 600-strong black and yellow army of Hampton supporters travel to Stoke City FC to cheer on Hampton’s First and Second XI teams, and see the latter raise the U18B champions trophy. One week later, our U12B team also claimed their ESFA Cup.
Plaudits to our U18A squad who delivered an impressive performance after battling through nine rounds to reach the ESFA final and who also won the Hudl league - another first for Hampton football.
We are incredibly proud of our footballers. Thank you to everyone who helped make ESFA Finals Day such a memorable occasion. The encouragement from the stands was a reflection of our ‘one team mentality’ approach, and its impact was clear to see. Mr David Burke, Director of Football
