A Private Club Community in the Heart of the Lowcountry
HAMPTON HALL CLUB
PATRIOTIC
Dear Members,
Summer is officially here, bringing sunshine, longer days, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy everything our beautiful community has to offer. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool, taking a swing on the courts, enjoying a round on your Pete Dye golf course, or gathering with friends for a delicious meal at the Club, there’s a special energy in the air that reminds us why we love living here.
As you soak in the beauty of the Lowcountry summer, be sure to celebrate the recent enhancements while enjoying your amenities. Hampton Hall’s commitment to excellence through continuous improvement is evident in subtle yet impactful ways, such as the refreshed basketball court, new tennis foot washers, added shade structures around the outdoor pool and playground, TVs on the back patio of Pete’s Grill, a new golf professional teaching canopy, and more. Your professional management team and dedicated volunteers remain committed to elevating your member experience.
We’ve been busy preparing for a fun and safe summer for you, your family, and your guests. The team has scheduled a variety of exciting community events to bring us all together. Be sure to check the calendar and join in! A few highlights include Jamaican Passport Night, Ladies with Ladies Comedy Night, Couples Golf Invitational, New Member Cocktail Party, 4th of July Festivities, a Savannah Bananas Baseball Game, and Karaoke Night — just to name a few.
As always, thank you for helping make Hampton Hall such a welcoming, respectful and engaging place to live. Your support, positivity, and participation are what truly make it feel like home.
Wishing you and your family a safe and joyful summer!

Hampton Hall Club Earns Distinguished Club Designation with Exceptional Status
We are proud to announce that Hampton Hall Club has been awarded the prestigious Distinguished Club designation with EXCEPTIONAL status by BoardRoom Magazine, in partnership with Forbes Travel Guide. This esteemed recognition is a reflection of the elevated Member Experience we strive to deliver every day.
The Distinguished Clubs program is the only merit-based award program in the private club industry. Clubs are evaluated through an in-depth, in-person assessment focused on service, facilities, governance, and the overall member experience. Fewer than 4% of private clubs worldwide achieve EXCEPTIONAL status, placing Hampton Hall among the most elite clubs globally.
“We are proud to acknowledge Eric Bischofberger, General Manager, and his team for delivering an exceptional Member Experience for the members of Hampton
for your ongoing support and for being part of what makes Hampton
Club so special.
Celebrating Our Team
At our recent quarterly staff meeting, we proudly recognized team members celebrating milestone anniversaries — 5, 10, and even 20 years — of dedicated service to Hampton Hall. We also congratulated Doug Hill from our culinary team, who was honored as our Employee of the Quarter.
Thank you to all for your hard work, commitment, and the positive impact you make every day!
This honor is a testament to the dedication of our staff and management team and the vibrant community we’ve built together. Thank you

Real Estate Insider Meeting and New Listing Website
Our annual Real Estate Insider Meeting took place in March, welcoming nearly 150 local agents for an exclusive update on all things Hampton Hall. The event served as a dynamic platform to share the latest community benefits, market insights, and selling points that make Hampton Hall a standout choice for homebuyers.
A key highlight of this year’s meeting was the launch of our new Hampton Hall real estate listing website. Prospective members can now browse available properties and discover the Hampton Hall lifestyle—all in one convenient place.
If you’re planning to list your home, we encourage you to ensure your agent includes your property on the new site. It’s a valuable tool in our ongoing marketing efforts and a great way to connect with buyers who are actively seeking a home in the community.

Member Spotlight
A Global Perspective, a Local Connection
Ron and Lori Desing’s journey to Hampton Hall has taken them around the world and back again—with experiences as enriching as they are adventurous. Originally from Ohio, the Desings spent years moving throughout the U.S. for their careers before living abroad, ultimately finding their ideal lifestyle in the Lowcountry.
Lori is a licensed psychologist whose work included both educational settings and private practice. Ron began his professional life as a chemical engineer, but soon transitioned into sales and marketing roles, where he spent most of his career. One of the highlights of their professional lives came during a five-year stint in Singapore, an opportunity that provided
tremendous cultural growth for the entire family.
“Our time in Singapore gave us the chance to travel and explore places we may never have otherwise visited,” they shared. “Some of our favorite memories are scuba diving in Australia and Bali, riding the bullet train to see Mt. Fuji, and touring through Malaysia, Thailand, and China.”
The couple has three adult children: daughter Renée (38), who lives in Seattle; son Scott (36), currently in Austin; and their youngest, Patrick (32), who lives in Dallas with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter Sullivan—Ron and Lori’s first grandchild. A fun Hampton Hall connection: Renée met her significant other, Brandon
“We enjoy everything from the golf course to the many social events, where you meet neighbors and friends. It’s easy to stay connected and involved.”
Borm, right here in the community. Brandon is the son of residents Al and Cathy Borm.
A shared family passion is skiing and snowboarding, which the Desings have enjoyed together over the years. “We used to take annual ski trips,” they noted. “This past January we visited Whistler in British Columbia and had the chance to ski parts of the Olympic trails from the 2010 Winter Games.”
The Desings were first drawn to the area during a Hilton Head vacation.
“We loved the climate and community feel,” they said. Familiar with Toll Brothers from their time in the Philadelphia area, they first explored Hampton Hall in 2008, purchased a lot in 2012, and moved into their new home by the end of 2014.
Over the years, they’ve embraced all that Hampton Hall has to offer.
“The lifestyle here is active and
Ron and Lori Desing
welcoming,” they shared. “We enjoy everything from the golf course to the many social events, where you meet neighbors and friends. It’s easy to stay connected and involved.”
Outside the gates, they continue to indulge their love of travel—often with friends they’ve made here in the community.
Ron and Lori are also passionate about giving back. Ron has served on the Board of Directors and several committees, while Lori is currently a member of the Hampton Hall Charitable Fund Board. “It’s a privilege to contribute to the community we love,” they said.
When asked what they’d tell someone considering a move to Hampton Hall, the answer was simple: “Come for the amenities and social opportunities—and stay for the friendships you’ll make along the way.”
“It’s a privilege to contribute to the community we love,” they said.
RON AND LORI ARE ALSO PASSIONATE ABOUT GIVING BACK.

Put A Little EZ Color in Your Backyard This Summer
MATT SAPOCHAK
Director of Golf Maintenance & Agronomy
Each May, I remove the winter annuals and plant summer flowers around Pete’s Grill—and for the past ten years, my go-to has been lantana. It’s tough, colorful, and deer-resistant, making it a great choice for Lowcountry landscapes.
This year, I’ll be planting New Gold lantana, a variety that’s replaced the once-popular Golden Mound. What makes New Gold special? It doesn’t produce seeds, blooms consistently from late spring into November, and is more cold-tolerant than many other types. Even better, lantana is a perennial—cut it back in the fall, mark it with a stake, and it will likely return the following spring.
When planting, I recommend waiting until mid-May for best results. Here’s my go-to planting method:
• Add 1 tablespoon of 100% Osmocote fertilizer (with a 1-1-1 ratio) to the planting hole. Be sure it’s 100% Osmocote.
• Add 2 tablespoons of granular Thiophanate-methyl fungicide for added disease protection.
• Place your lantana in the hole with 10–15% of the root ball above ground level, firm the soil around the plant, and water well.
• Be sure to plant in a well-drained location—lantana does not like soggy soil.
Around late June, you may notice your lantana slowing down. Often, Whiteflies are the culprit. Look on the underside of the leaves to spot them. To manage Whiteflies, I’m trying a natural spray this summer:
• Mix 1 gallon of water with:
o 1 tsp cheap dish soap (not Dawn),
o 1 tsp summer/horticultural oil,
o 1 tsp baking soda.
Apply in the evening. Always test the mixture on one plant before treating all of them. Remember the old Sapochak saying, “You can always put more on — but you can’t take it off.” This blend is gentle and won’t harm butterflies.
With light applications of Miracle-Gro and a systemic fungicide throughout the summer, your lantana will reward you with bold, lasting color—and minimal fuss.

Vacation-Ready Workouts:
Stay Fit Anywhere, No Equipment Needed
BY MICHELE DICARLO, CPT/TPI CERTIFIED
Sports, Recreation & Fitness Director
Vacations are for relaxation—but that doesn’t mean you have to press pause on your fitness goals. With the right approach, you can stay active, boost your energy, and make room for that extra snack without needing a gym or fancy equipment. Whether you’re on a beach, in a hotel room, or exploring a new city, these simple, equipment-free workouts will keep you moving and feeling great.
Why Exercise on Vacation?
While it’s perfectly okay to rest, a bit of daily movement can:
• Help you recover from jet lag
• Improve your mood and energy levels
• Support digestion and better sleep
• Balance out indulgent meals and drinks
• Keep your body limber after long flights or car rides
Tips for Vacation-Friendly Workouts
• Keep it short – 10 to 20 minutes is enough.
• Use your surroundings – Park benches, stairs, or a patch of sand can be your gym.
• Pick a time – Morning workouts are a great way to beat the heat and free up your day.
• Mix it up – Combine strength, cardio, and flexibility moves.
On-the-Go Fitness Hacks
• Walk everywhere—skip the Uber when possible.
• Take the stairs instead of an elevator.
• Try activities like paddleboarding, hiking, or biking.
• Do 10-minute movement breaks throughout your day. STRETCH!
Final Thoughts
Vacation workouts should never feel like a chore. Think of them as quick energy boosts that help you feel your best while still enjoying your getaway. The key is flexibility: go with what your body needs that day, and don’t stress if you skip a day. After all, a fit lifestyle is about balance, not perfection.
