A suite of optional experiences and opportunities, enabling global perspectives and supporting service of others.
The Exceptional Student Futures pillar of our 2024 – 2028 Strategic Plan emphasises the importance of expanding extension and enrichment opportunities for our students by developing global perspectives, and supporting international service work in disadvantaged communities.
At College, we are committed to providing opportunities for international and local cultural engagement, so that our graduates arrive into a world they are comfortable in and knowledgeable about.
Inside this booklet are the optional co-curricular programs we will offer over 2027 and 2028. While the details such as specific dates are to be confirmed for the later programs, we provide them all together now so that families can plan and make decisions about if one of these opportunities might be the right one for each student to set them up to lead in the world.

Singapore
YALE MODEL UN TRIP
March
Yale Model United Nations Singapore is an opportunity for students interested in global issues to engage in debate and collaboration with some of the brightest student minds from around the world.
Delegates will be called upon to step into the perspectives of world leaders and apply their best research, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills.
YMUNS features speaker engagements, panel discussions and workshops featuring diplomats, politicians and NGOs, to cultivate delegates’ awareness of pertinent issues facing the Southeast Asian region.
The trip will be for approximately six days and will include some sightseeing and exploration of Singapore, as well as the conference.

2027
Argentina
CORRIENTES HORSE-RIDING TOUR
March-April
A horse-riding trek through the beautiful Corrientes region of Argentina.
This ride plunges students into the heart of gaucho country – splashing through lagoons on sure-footed Criollos, lassoing cattle, sharing maté beneath eucalypt forests and feasting on Argentine cuisine as your horses graze nearby.
Trip Highlights include: learning to swing a lasso and work cattle like a gaucho; wading through waters and swimming your horse across lily pad spotted lagoons, and spotting colourful wildlife in the wild landscapes of Corrientes.
The two-week trip will develop independence, cultural awareness and horse handling skills. Interested students must have a sound basic riding ability.

France and Italy
LANGUAGE AND ARTS TOUR
(Re-offer) March-April
Re-offer of cancelled 2026 trip: The Language and Arts Tour is an immersion into Italian and French culture through the arts in a range of mediums, language, history and cuisine.
Students will be given the opportunity to immerse in rich Italian and French experiences through a number of hands on activities like a cooking class allowing understanding of the flavourful cuisine, art workshops, and introductory French lessons which allows for better communication with locals while enjoying a family homestay.
Spectacular artworks and sculptures in some of the most famous galleries and museums in the world will be visited and examined in this irresistible tour.

Central Australia
CULTURAL IMMERSION AND SERVICE TRIP July
This eight-day program will broaden students’ appreciation of the Australian natural environment and indigenous connection to country and community. The program will also foster opportunity for personal challenge and growth, as we sleep in swags under the stars.
Students will arrive in Alice Springs, visiting the Bird Park and Earth Sanctuary, before heading into Watarrka country around King’s Canyon. We will spend three or four days working in and for the Lilla community, before travelling on to Yulara to experience Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

New Zealand HOCKEY AND NETBALL TOUR
July
A ten-day sporting tour to New Zealand, featuring four netball and hockey matches against local teams. Students will see New Zealand’s highlights, including geographical, cultural and sporting locations.
Students will visit highlights of New Zealand’s north island including a guided tour of Eden Park stadium, climbing the Sky Tower, visiting the Hobbiton Movie Set, riding the Skyline Gondola, and an authentic Mitai Maori Cultural Experience and Hangi dinner.

China
LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL TOUR
April
A two-week language and cultural tour in the Term One holiday break, visiting the highlights of ancient and modern China. In-school experiences at Gaoyou Middle School, Shanshui Foreign Languages School BFSU and Liangxiang No.2 Middle School.
Visit the City God Temple of Shanghai, Jade Buddha Temple and Zhujiajiao Water Town. In the evening, walk around the Bund to get the best view of Shanghai by night. Go up to the top of Shanghai Tower. Students experience the two sides of Shanghai, traditional and modern.
Visit Chengdu. Founded by the Kingdom of Shu in 4th century BC. It’s called the most liveable city in China.
Visit Wenshu Temple, and the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Jinli. Explore KuanZhai Alley, which is a newly renovated Qing dynasty district, made up of three parallel lanes lined with traditional Chinese architecture.

New Zealand
SOUTH ISLAND OUTDOOR AND AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRIES TOUR
April
We cycle, hike and kayak our way from the adventure capital of Queenstown to the stunning location of Christchurch.
We’ve included a fun and action-packed line up that will leave you feeling challenged and inspired from start to finish, all while putting your outdoor education skills to the test in a real-life setting.
This 10-day tour has been designed to be human powered, so you travel as much as possible by foot and bike to discover the wonders of the Southern Alps
The group will intersperse their outdoor activities with a series of farm visits and agricultural activities.

Sri Lanka
SERVICE AND TREKKING TOUR
December
This program involves an active look at the fascinating country of Sri Lanka with cultural connections and a three day community school service project.
Sri Lanka is a rich cultural destination where you can discover ancient ruins, a fascinating and friendly culture, great food, wildlife and stunning beaches.
There are many challenges to overcome along the way as we canoe, cycle, trek and climb Sri Lanka’s sacred Adam’s Peak on this adventure of a lifetime.
This fantastic 10-day School Adventure gives you the opportunity to first hand make a positive difference to a remote community in need.

College Community Bursary Support
The Hamilton and Alexandra College demonstrates a commitment to enhancing students’ educational experiences through co-curricular travel opportunities.
Recognising the value of these experiences, the College Foundation and the Old Collegians’ Association have generously established a bursary program to support both international and domestic study experiences.
This financial assistance aims to increase accessibility, ensuring that a broader range of students can participate in these enriching programs.
The bursaries are need and merit based, and will be awarded through a competitive application process.
This initiative underpins the College’s dedication to nurturing a well-rounded education and promoting equal access to valuable learning opportunities for student.
