HETAS and Woodsure CEO responds to ‘Emissions of air pollutants statistics’ by Defra for 2023

The report highlighted an increase in burning wood for fuel by 124 per cent between 2011 and 2021, and a decrease in use of coal for domestic heating.

Bruce Allen, the CEO, said: “At the crux of this is educating the consumer on the best way to burn to cause as little damage to the environment as possible.” The organisation he leads offers various resources, including advice on the cleanest solid fuel, wood or biomass appliances. They also run the Ready to Burn scheme, marking fuel that is compliant with emissions regulations.
