“THE LAKE VIEW”
Official matchday programme of Bishop Sutton F.C.
Toolstation Western League Division One Keynsham Town
Saturday 2nd September 2023 3.00pm
Good afternoon everyone,
Welcome back to Lakeview for today’s Toolstation Western League Division one fixture with Keynsham Town FC. We offer a warm welcome as usual to their supporters & officials along with the three match officials too, hoping they have a safe journey home.
Well, the Wembley suits & dresses have gone back in the wardrobes for another year after our Vase exit against Wadebridge Town last Saturday. We were in the game right up until almost the final whistle when our visitors scored a decisive third goal. In midweek however, we were well beaten by Brislington who have started this season like they finished the last one, on fire!
Incredibly, this is our seventh home game already this season so after today, it’s a whole fortnight before the next one versus Portishead Town here at Lakeview. Thank you for your support and come on the Blues!!
Bishop Sutton Club History
The club was re-formed in 1977 with just an U15 team playing in the Weston-superMare Sunday League and then progressing in successive seasons to the Bristol and Avon League U16s and the second and first divisions before being admitted into the Somerset Senior League for the 1981-82 season.
The next ten years were spent climbing through the four divisions before being voted into the Western League for season 1991-92. The First Division was won in 1997-98 and then followed seventeen successive seasons in the Premier Division, the highlight being winning the Premier title in 2012-13.
Unfortunately our ground grading did not permit progression to the Southern League and all the team management and players then left the club. Relegation from the Premier followed at the end of season 2014-15 and we have experienced mixed fortunes in the First Division since then.
For the season 2020-21 Jon Toy came in as manager but unfortunately we were only able to play 10 games before the season was curtailed due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Having retained a lot of last season’s squad and added a couple of new players, we finished in mid table in season 2021/22 followed by seventh place last season. Jon left in the summer and was replaced by Catalin Andrei and Steve Taylor.
A big thank you....

KEYNSHAM TOWN FC
Keynsham Town Football Club is over 120 years old, having been formed in 1896. In the early days it played at the “Hams” and then moved to “Gaston” in 1910. 1n 1925 the club played in Park Road and then moved again in 1930 to a pitch on Charlton Road. Fortunes took a turn for the better when Chris King and Sean Day took over management duties in September 2014.
