“THE LAKE VIEW” Official matchday programme of Bishop Sutton F.C.
Toolstation Western League Division One Cribbs Reserves Saturday 18th November 2023
3.00pm
Good afternoon everyone, Welcome back to Lakeview for this afternoon’s Toolstation Western League Division One fixture with Cribbs Reserves FC. We offer a warm welcome as usual to their supporters & officials along with the three match officials too, hoping they all have a safe journey home. Following their first team’s elevation into the Southern League, Cribbs saw their reserves also promoted into the Toolstation where they have settled in very nicely. At the time of writing, they lie in third place. We’ve reached that time of year again where fixtures are in a state of “Off/On/ Off” in the days leading up to the match. Please keep an eye on our socials for the very latest match information as autumn turns to winter. And please also check the club website for news on rearranged fixtures too as these will increase for sure over the next two or three months. Enjoy the game!
Bishop Sutton Club History
The club was re-formed in 1977 with just an U15 team playing in the Weston-superMare Sunday League and then progressing in successive seasons to the Bristol and Avon League U16s and the second and first divisions before being admitted into the Somerset Senior League for the 1981-82 season. The next ten years were spent climbing through the four divisions before being voted into the Western League for season 1991-92. The First Division was won in 1997-98 and then followed seventeen successive seasons in the Premier Division, the highlight being winning the Premier title in 2012-13. Unfortunately our ground grading did not permit progression to the Southern League and all the team management and players then left the club. Relegation from the Premier followed at the end of season 2014-15 and we have experienced mixed fortunes in the First Division since then. For the season 2020-21 Jon Toy came in as manager but unfortunately we were only able to play 10 games before the season was curtailed due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Having retained a lot of last season’s squad and added a couple of new players, we finished in mid table in season 2021/22 followed by seventh place last season. Jon left in the summer and was replaced by Catalin Andrei and Steve Taylor.

Focus on.... CRIBBS RESERVES FC
Cribbs Football Club was founded in London in 1958 as Sun Life Assurance. The Bristol team was established in 1976 when Sun Life first relocated to Bristol. Initially, two teams were run, participating in the Bristol and Avon League, playing at Dundridge Farm. However, when the Cribbs Causeway ground was opened in 1978, the first team were promoted straight to the Avon Premier Combination League (later renamed Bristol Premier Combination) where they stayed for 20 years until they eventually won promotion to the County League in 1999 –2000. In the summer of 2011, the club changed its name from AXA to Cribbs Friends Life FC ready for the 2011–12 season. The season was Cribbs' most successful season to date as the club claimed its first Gloucestershire County League title on the way to an unprecedented League and Cup double. The team later adding the Les James League Cup to the League Championship and in the process becoming the first and only side to achieve this feat. As a result of winning the league, the club earned promotion to the Western League Division One for the 2012–2013 subsequently changing their name to simply, Cribbs FC. Cribbs were promoted into the Western League Premier Division for the commencement of the 2015-2016 season and obtained numerous top half finishes until at the end of the 2020–21 season the club were transferred to the Premier Division of the Hellenic League. Under the stewardship of Richard Luffman, Cribbs in his first full season in charge, recorded a best ever Step Five position of Fourth in the Hellenic League. They also were winners of the League Cup defeating Hereford Pegasus 1-0 through a George Kellow goal. Cribbs gained Southern League status in 2023 after clinching promotion becoming champions of the Hellenic League after a 1-0 win over Wantage Town. Since its inception the club has run multiple sides across the Bristol Premier Combination and Bristol & District League. The Reserve Team won the Premier Combination in 2021/2022 season and did so in numerous seasons prior. After last season’s title win, they were finally granted entry to the Gloucestershire County League for 2022/2023. In their first season in the GCL they finished six points in front of Bromley Heath United to clinch the title and earn promotion to the Toolstation Western League Division One.
A big thank you to the sponsors of our reserve & under 18 teams...
