Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
(Adapted from Matthew 6:9-13, and Luke 11:1-4)
“Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
“I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images.” ~ Isaiah 42:8
“Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!” ~ 1 Chronicles 16:29
Having prayed for daily bread, and cleansing from sin, we have spent time seeking provision for our bodies, and purity in our spirits. And now, we return again to a heavenly focus, remembering that God is our life! He is the source of our peace and strength. And God doesn’t need us to second the motion, recognizing that His power is all-encompassing.
“Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You!”
~ Jeremiah 32:17

It is important for us to acknowledge his sovereignty, but not for His benefit, clearly. We add nothing to His glory … nothing to His power. But extolling Him as King, Lord, Sovereign, Victor, Creator, Sustainer, Champion, and God reminds us that we have an advocate with boundless authority. There is literally nothing He wishes to do that is impossible – nothing within His character that is unreachable for Him.
What better way could there be for us to conclude our prayer time? We know the “boss” and He knows us. We can trust that in every way He will work to see that situations which may worry us will work out for our good and His glory.
In a concluding chorus of repeated declarations, we daily remind ourselves that:
Our God is King – all authority in the universal kingdom is His.
Our God is Supreme – all power resides in Him and flows from Him. Our God is Victorious – all glory and honor belong to Him, and Him alone!
